This time I wanted to grow a sativa-dominant strain, Strawberry Cream from SumoSeeds fits perfectly:
"Straight from the Er-Rif region of Morocco, an exclusive hybrid of Goji Haze and Strawberry Haze, the famous fruity sativa from Arjen at GHS. When smoking this beauty, you'll notice a pleasant sweet strawberry aroma." Sounds intriguing. 😏
Now a few words about germination: usually after soaking in a glass of water (RO water), I germinate the seeds in damp cotton pads and a zip bag (this way I can control the necessary humidity more easily). But with this method, you need to keep an eye on the root, as there's a risk of it growing into the cotton pad, which happened with one of the seeds. In this case, you need to extract the seed very carefully (see video). Apparently, next time I'll try a less risky germination method. Oh, and before the glass of water, I slightly filed the seeds on the sharp edge with a nail file.

bioaccessory The flight is going smoothly, by the end of the second week I transplanted the plants into 12.5L pots (could have done it a couple of days later, but this works too).
In the process, I used Jellyfish Plant Success, which came to me almost by accident, and here it didn’t go without surprises, you could say live - after watering with the not-so-pleasant-looking mixture (I also sprinkled it generously inside the coconut and on the roots), jelly-like clumps started forming on the surface of the coconut, about the size of peas (see the video). At first, I didn’t even know how to react, it was so unexpected. 😵💫 Common sense and the very name (!) of the product suggested that this is how it should be. 😐 Seriously, it was like someone threw a big jellyfish into a blender and then dumped it on my substrate. I suspect the same thing was happening inside the substrate.
A day has passed, the jelly clumps have decreased, but not all of them have dissolved. Now I can see that the plants are doing fine, so it was all part of the plan. 😇
If everything continues to go according to plan - we’ll be cutting at the end of the week, come check it out.

bioaccessory It's already obvious to me that the girls are a bit temperamental and require extra gentle care - both plants didn't handle the transplant well and slowed down for a couple of days. I didn't like the experiment with the transplanting solution; the substrate just got clogged with jelly-like clumps (I still don't get what the benefit was), and for better air circulation in the root zone, I had to make careful tunnels with a wooden stick. Plus, I started adding the basic nutrients too late, and the little ones showed signs of underfeeding. But I fixed everything just in time, and by the end of the week, I'm seeing positive trends for further development.
Of course, after all the upheaval, the plants weren't ready for any scissor manipulation, so I had to postpone the topping (I think my mistakes stretched the veg phase by about a week, thank Jah I have cameras!), and for now, we have what we have.

bioaccessory My favorite part of the cycle has arrived - the bush structure formation period. By this time, I usually have a strategy for my next actions: I decide on training techniques, the approximate timing for switching the light cycle to flowering, etc.
On day 23, I did topping on the 4th floor, and three days later, I removed everything below the 3rd floor. I spread the upper branches to the sides with elastic wires, and I'm not touching the lower floor for now - let it catch up. 👆😊 And I need to start considering the height for mounting the net.

bioaccessory This week I finally replaced the carbon in the filter, washed the pre-filter, and connected everything through a brand new duct - now, I hope the smell won't bother me until the end of the cycle.
Everything else is going according to plan: I'm continuing the training, trimming all the excess, and bending the main branches. After a slight setback at the start, both plants have gained excellent shape and continue to please me. Next week I'll be setting up the ScrOG, which is a new experience for me, making it doubly interesting - come check it out!👍👊

bioaccessory This week has been eventful: first of all, when I was bending, I broke the main stem of the "red" plant. I thought I was being careful as usual, hadn’t watered for two days before, and still managed to break it, and in a problematic spot at that, even to the point of cracking; the branch was barely hanging on by a thin skin. I still lean towards the idea that the flexibility and brittleness of the plant also depend on the strain, as this isn't the first time it's happened in this cycle. What do you think? I smeared the break with honey and fixed it in the right position (see the series of photos for how the recovery went). The saddest part is that I broke it again when I was putting the plant under the ScrOG, and here we move on to another event at the end of this week (see the series of photos for the ScrOG setup).
After all the manipulations, I set the light schedule to 12/12🔆 (on the 42nd day from the seedling).
An interesting period is beginning - the plants are entering the flowering stage, come check it out.

bioaccessory Creating the green screen turned out to be quite interesting and not at all troublesome - just bending the branches in promising directions under the trellis once a day, or even less often, is enough. The broken branch has taken root, but I won't disturb it for a couple more days. Everything else is fine, I expect the flowering to start soon, so I'm making adjustments to the feeding, and the indicators are normal.
In this cycle, I decided to include the Delta9 supplement in the feeding; I already have positive experience using this stim. I'm applying it according to the following scheme:
- at least 4 times, depending on the duration of the flowering period
- the first treatment ≈ 10 days before the start of flowering (a couple of days after switching to 12/12) I spray 6ml. per liter on the leaves
- the second time as soon as it starts to flower, I apply 5ml. per liter at the root (without basic fertilizers)
- the third time in 10 days I spray again 6ml. per liter on the leaves
- and finally, another 10 days later, I pour 5ml. per liter at the root
In a week, I will add a lamp with red diodes at 660nm.

Some branches bent under the Scrog are twisting in a spiral, and the future structure of the bushes is starting to take shape; everything is fine so far.
I reapplied Delta9, this time at the root.
At the end of the week (day 55), I did some defoliation; no signs of flowering have been detected yet, but I'm not in a hurry.

bioaccessory The screen is almost full, but I still notice a slight desynchronization - the "red" plant started flowering a bit earlier. It was the first to come to life, but the "yellow" seed was noticeably larger, so I’ll keep observing.
At the beginning of the week, I did a flush with FloraKleen, drainage levels are normal, and the appearance is okay.
I can already smell a normal scent, I hope my filter can handle it.
Also, as you can see in the photo, I hung up some red supplemental lighting, now I have full spectrum 👆😆

bioaccessory Now I'm starting to understand another advantage of growing with the ScrOG method - basically, there's nothing else to do, all the branches are in their places. I haven't even adjusted the height of the lamp as long as I'm satisfied. Growth has noticeably slowed down, and my minor mistakes in setting up the trellis are already obvious to me, which I will definitely list in the final conclusions.
At the beginning of next week, I'm planning to remove the extra fan leaves and tidy up the bottoms, then we'll see the final structure of the bushes.
The characteristic sativa leaves are meeting my expectations so far, the most interesting part is just beginning.😉

bioaccessory Finally trimmed all the excess fan leaves, spent at least an hour on it. As a result, I can already see that part of the future harvest ended up under the net, and the plants themselves were planned to be about 5-10cm taller. (I could have switched to flowering a week or two later, and stopped tucking branches under the net earlier for future grows). Accordingly, the side lighting ended up being a bit high for such compact plants. It can be easily raised, but I didn't even plan to lower it under the net - I'd have to take apart the whole setup, so I'll leave it as is this time.
The "red" plant started flowering a couple of days earlier, which is why it slowed down before the "yellow" one, and as a result, it's noticeably shorter now.
However, what I see now is quite encouraging, I'm continuing to work my magic. 😎

This week, there was a little mishap; a pipe burst in the house, the water pressure dropped sharply, and while the "water company" was fixing the problem, my reverse osmosis tank wasn't filling up. I had to water with whatever I could find for three days (stale tap water, store-bought). And immediately, the PPM levels started to rise, so I had to flush at the end of the week with FloraKleen. What water do you use to water your plants?
Next week, I will be cutting out the basic nutrients - we're heading into the home stretch.

bioaccessory I don't know about you, but I really love this day - harvest day. And that's even despite having to manicure the cut plants on this day (I prefer to do it before drying). This time trimming was especially difficult, a lot of small sativa leaves were growing right out of the buds. And how are the buds? They're great, as hard as a rock, just how I wanted them! 🌿
On harvest day (on time, thanks Jah!) my equipment couldn't handle it - half of the lamp turned off (in the video at 19s.), it seems the time really has come.

О, эти красотки заставили меня попотеть на вегетативной стадии - малейшие манипуляции LST часто заканчивались надломами магистралей, в первый месяц развития возникали микрострессы по любому поводу. Но оно того стоило, на предцвете оба растения набрали отличный ход, и на цветении уже не было никаких проблем.
Различные напасти меня миновали, поэтому сопротивляемость болезням будем оценивать в ауте.
Также хочу отметить, что несмотря на сативную доминанту в гибриде, мои растения получились довольно компактными - не бойтесь подержать этот сорт подольше на веге.
Теперь самое интересное - высушенные шишки действительно едва заметно пахнут клубникой. Особенно ярко это ощущается, если растереть шишку между пальцев, но при курении совсем не чувствуется, к сожалению. Надеюсь клубничный аромат ещё проявится после пролечки в холодильнике.
upd. К сожалению, после 1.5 месяца пролечивания в холодильнике, клубничный аромат совсем исчез.
О эффекте - достаточно мощный(6 из 10) high, располагающий к общению и веселью, любители сативы непременно оценят. Это именно то, что я хотел курить этим летом, очень интересный сорт.

This cycle seemed especially troublesome to me. As you can see from the report title, this time I was mastering the SCROG method, and right from the moment of setup, there were some difficulties. First of all, you need to think about the watering system under the net (maybe automate it), this time I had to water in small portions for even distribution of liquid in the pots, which is called "feeding with a spoon." The net should be set up a bit earlier, and lower by 5-7 cm. And finally, I was a bit scared of the strong growth during flowering (after all, it’s a sativa hybrid), I could have switched to flowering a week or two later. While working with SCROG, I couldn’t shake the funny feeling that I was coming to my garden bed: 😜 The main thing is that I figured out how it works, and in the future, I will take my mistakes into account, especially since they didn’t affect the quality of the harvest at all.

@bioaccessory, no.. I can definitely handle two plants... but man, dealing with one is such a hassle with PPM/PH, and with two it’s a total nightmare... If I was just focused on growing - it wouldn’t be a problem at all, I could handle 50 bushes. But I have my main job, business, obligations, so growing is just a hobby for me.. to take my mind off things.
I chose sativa purely because I like it more... I can’t stand sinking into the couch and drowning in thoughts... I need movement, imagination, art... Everyone gets pale from sativa, but my wife and I get it from indica.
My first grown strain was sativa, with Thai dominance. Since then, we’ve really gotten used to it... Indica doesn’t do anything for me at all....

@bioaccessory, yeah, I’m more about aesthetics than volume )))) Except maybe comparing the speed of vegetation. But I’ve noticed that photo strains grow slower in veg, investing more in the roots than in the greenery.
