📆28th January Day 1
I would like to start by saying that the information I share here is mostly gathered from the internet and regurgitated in my own way.
I have used my research to improve my grows.
I am more than happy to share my information and if you find it helps that’s great!
But as it goes, what works for me may not work for you.
And id like to add to that, it’s usually down to environmental factors. So getting your environment right is also very important to get best result.
My germination method in theory is very simple > plant the seed straight into the soil...
However anyone that knows me knows how I like to complicate everything... XD
So my step by step complicated guide to germination!
• Step 1: Get 4x 500ml pots Label them with a permanent marker pen do it clearly you don’t mix them up.
• Step 2: Get some soil of your choosing, (preferably a light mix) I went with BioBiz Light mix... Take 2L of your chosen soil throw in a bucket... **Optional step: Add in 2tbsp of BatGuano, 2tbsp of Mykos, 1tbsp Living Organics.
• Step 3: Use 1L dechlorinated tap water or Ro water (I use bio thrive neutralize) @20-24c with CalMag product bring it up to 400EC... add any root boosters, Humic acid and enzyme products at half strength.
• Step 4: Using a shot glass or sprayer to wet the surface of the soil/pots with 200ml each of your seed starting mix.
• Step 5: After wetting the soil surface gently pat it down some it’s even and not “lumpy” you need it to be a smoothish surface for the next step.
• Step 6: Get a biro pen or pencil, Mark out 0.5cm on the pen/pencil... push that into the centre of the pot/soil only up to the marker.
• Step 7: Choose your 4 seeds. Now this is your choice but I put the seed 1 at a time in my mouth for 1 minute using a timer (This works for me every time) after 1 minute has passed spit the seed into the hole you made. Job done lol.... NOT...If you DON’T want to use your spit you can use luke warm water for a few mins/hours up to you.
• Step 8: After the seed is wet by either your mouth or water. Position it into the hole you made earlier. The pointy part of the seed goes down and the flat part facing up. (If you look at a picture of a cannabis seed up close you will see what I mean)
Covering the hole carefully with a loose sprinkle of soil just to cover it DO NOT pat down soil above seed.
• Step 9: Place your pots in your tent or suitable grow area to keep the temperature regulated.
Turn your lights to 24/0 just until all the seeds are up and growing nicely then we can change to 18/6 if preferred.
Step 10: Covering the pots with some cling film/plastic wrap/sandwich wrap/annoying plastic stuff that’s in your draw. This keeps the moisture and heat in. Remove it once the seeds growing straight up.
**Optional step, using a heat mat place the pots onto a Plastic tray then the tray on top of a heat mat this improves germination results.

The plan this time is to keep the watering to the root ball where I transplanted. I want the microbiology to build up this week and work it’s way around the pot before I start using a lager amount of water next week. I’ve noticed that after using more water early on I’ve had to use more nutrients later In the growing cycle which can result in PH off balance and toxicity in the soil.

Anyone have experience with big plants and dense buds using LED for the entire grow...?
I’m sorry to say I haven’t managed to yield as much as with HPS.
I think that is mostly down to me not understanding light intensity and distance from canopy.

**Update Grow Tent Talk**
Since the last update I’ve trimmed inward facing fan leaves if that explains my defoliation method.
And the entire veg I’ve been manipulating branches with only a pinch and twist with my fingers. No ties/stakes used to get the canopy flat this time.
Since learning “basics of how to grow” now I’m trying to perfect the little things which ultimately are much bigger than we thought. First is VPD, I’ve been growing for just over 10 years and I had never heard that term until last year.
“VPD why is it important?”
My understanding so far is that it literally controls the rate plants can grow. There are positive and negative pressure created from the balance between mainly heat & humidity.
If you satisfy the plants with a neutral VPD of around 1.0 growth will be consistent through the whole period. If you manipulate the VPD to get your environment “dialled in” you will be able to see healthy growth and a more balance watering program to say the least (reduce risk of pathogens as well)
To control your grow room may take tools like humidifier and dehumidifiers but it’s worth it for the sake of your hard work. After all dialling in VPD can prevent many problems within the Grow room.
New growers (Me included) often disregarded correcting the temperature and humidity, often thinking of it as a secondary requirement.
Times are changing and I hope more experienced growers can push the importance of Temp&RH in the future.
How did you come to VPD?
Last grow I suffered from extreme low humidity sometimes as low as 16% and I finally saw the effect of such a low humidity.
Plants had huge base stem but the growth up top got smaller and smaller. The soil was drying out in a matter of 3 days when the plants were only small.
The water I was feeding to the plant was being sucked out of the soil by the air (Im using Fabric Pots)
Because the water was going into the air faster than the plant could use it. This created problems with nutrients etc, I managed to increase humidity with a Humidifier and the health of the plants immediately bounced back.
So I just wanted to add this in here as it can to mind. Hope it could maybe help someone else take the time to control temp&Rh.

📆 9th April Day 73
I haven’t added Calmag to every water as I deemed it unnecessary with such a successful grow so far using a very little amount of nutrients and water combined...
Until today when I noticed the tips going a little brown, now I haven’t been over feeding because I have added hardly any nutrients and I’m using only orgaincs.
Here’s a link to a study regarding tip burn, some others might find it useful to know.
https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/abs/pii/S0304423898001538
Since I haven’t been adding Calmag
But I have been adding high amounts of Kelp (Ascophyllum nodosum) which contains these plant hormones like gibberellins etc this has caused a lil stress to the plant.
So I suspect that after the last defoliation i should have kept adding cal&mag to feeds.
Another observation is the pistils on some of the girls are already starting to wither. That’s another sign to me. I have no scientific proof of this relating to the stress from no calcium availability.
***Everything should get back to normal now I’m adding calcium & magnesium product again.

📆10th April Day 74
It’s been 24 hours since noticing the deficiency and adding the cal mag to the last watering.
When things are looking so good!! There can always be a lil hiccup in the road.
So I’m being proactive...
I had some Guanokalong powder bat shit. I gave 4 heaped tablespoons per plant, then watered it in with a sprayer
Added 1ml/L Magnecal+ and 3ml/L Humic acid plus.
Adding this will improve the available Ca & Mg plus add some micro life back to the soil.
I’ve been careful not to water too much so as not to over water nor wash the good stuff out the soil.
You can see in the pics the tips started going brown but shortly after brown spots on lower leaves some light patches between margins etc... classic Calcium & magnesium deficiency.
Also typical around week 5 of flower very common time to have these deficiency’s.

PURPLE PUNCH from Barney’s was overall a fabulous plant to grow! It’s a pretty hyped up strain so let’s dry her out and see what the hype is all about...
👁️***APPEARANCE***👁️
She turned out to be picture perfect IMO Big Fat Indica Leaves followed by Big Fat buds. The fruits still retain the pinkish colour in the 2 day dry period and I expect them to darken up only a little bit more. This was a great pheno after topping once she grew up nicely and the bud sites hugged their respective branches.
👃🏽***AROMA***👃🏽
Pungent grape aroma, earthy Indica that’s for sure. Not the type of terps to stink up your room mind... until you start smoking some, the smoke is strong and gassy that quickly fills up the room with that USA grape ape aroma.
👅***FLAVOR***👅
Carrying the grapey tones well into the flavour profile which is what we wanted. Extremely pungent tickles the nose on the intake with a subtle but strong earthy note following on the exhale.
🧠***EFFECT***🧠
Strong body soothing also your brain, bliss...
I need this effect to calm my brain down. It’s something you can only find in strong Indica leaning strains.
The narcotic effect has me saving this for night time or before bed. And it’s really perfect for that, knockout effect 10/10
@Mrs_Larimar, so important!!
Mine is high rate too, this time the only seed not to germinate was an “11 roses” by delicious seeds...
it was a 5 year old seed at least :(
I much prefer to skip paper towel method now :)
@Mrs_Larimar, thank you dear, I’m just amazed that I got them to 7 weeks with only Growzyme, Humic acid plus and More roots!! I didn’t feed organic grow once XD
lets talk per Pm about lightdistance
and light intensity
i see it for alonger time now, but dont wanted to say anything,,, but now that you are asking i would have afew thoughts
@Mrs_Larimar, Go ahead I would appreciate all of you’re advice always thank you!
I’m 12/12 400w max with distance of 32” that’s reading between 500-600ppfd across the canopy.
Do you think I leave my light where it is and let them stretch to it? Can they handle 900ppf with no co2? I’ve never measured my PPfd until I got this app, but things are looking good. I will update again tomorrow :)
@Mrs_Larimar, Awesome! I will go and check them out now. I’m seriously considering cloning these. Strains just so if I get a winner pheno I don’t lose it.
Regretting not cloning my recent FFT10 :)
@PharmaZ, Thank You so much and I will take you up on that offer 🙏 I can fully understand the mastering your craft...I am currently working on an organic companion growing concept...My first grow with all inputs will be on my Gorilla Glue grow I got her companions sprouting with her now and will add a living mulch sometime next week...Thank you for taking the time to chat..if you could take a look at my Purple Punch and let me know what you think so far I would greatly appreciate your thought👊
@@Trumptight420, thank you for the kind words friend! I believe everyday is another day to learn something new and grow... so keep on hunting for those gems and keep reading everyday something new.
Crystal candy was really sweet tasting a caramel sort. Not fruity as such. I could have done her better if I’d started flushing week 6 of flower but I kept pumping them that run and they all went a lil green. But it was a lesson learned im trying best to master my inputs to really truely understand what plants want as much as they let me 😂
But yea feel free to hit me up anytime if you want a 2nd opinion.🙏👍
@PharmaZ, Grow strong friend...If you EVER have and input as how to make my grows better please feel free to give your advice! Stay tuned my friend there's an update tomorrow! Thanks for stopping by and showing some love🙏 Also, how did you like your crystal candy F1? I saw it on your page but haven't had the time to check out raw grow, believe it or not I read everything on the diaries, there's a lot of hidden gems in them😎
Very well balanced grow dude. Like, seriously.
A lot of people be like "But it's not as purple as I wanted it to be". And then I'm like, if it's green and gold, it's even better.
Have you checked out lactic acid bacterias? Maybe citric acid effects?
@PharmaZ,
Yeah look, I work with STUPID heavy clay (check this).

So what I used was calcitic lime, kelp and molasses (cheapest "bulk" shit I figured would improve the soil, AND IT DID!)
I use lots of calcium, like, I find people tend to use too much magnesium often, tbh. And yes, I know it relates to the phosphorus uptake, as well as "sweetness" or flavour, oil production in general, BRICS for the plants. But, additionally, citric acid makes phosphorus more available. Plants can exude acids, direct or indirect, like perhaps associated symbiotic microbes, (for shit like citric acid) to help mobilize phosphorus. So just something to keep in mind in case you seemingly have phosphorus in the soil but it's not being taken up properly.
Btw, 200kg of feed grade calcitic lime, 25kg of blackstrap molasses and 5l of kelp is what I used (though I haven't used half of it, except the molasses, which I've been eating and making "beer" with but it's lasted like more than a year). Cost for that? A bit less than 30usd...
@sir_isO, ahhh, I see where you’re coming from now. I will tell you my thoughts...
I had more than enough P my soil it was bat guano based and I top dressed with High P guano.
My problem was not enough Calcium. My water from the tap is 0.1EC
for the first month to 6 weeks I only needed to water 1 time per 7-10 days... so when I did have to water I had to think what do they need for such a long period of time. (High humidity in veg is the way to go for soil)
Unfortunately I wasn’t adding enough calcium I honestly believe this was my problem. Come harvest my plants stems where hollow...
There is a relation between phosphorus and calcium.
I generally add enough cal/mag but this time didn’t because of how well the soil was preforming without any real use of NPKs for the first 7 weeks.
When I look back on this grow, if only I had lowered the light and added more Calcium... that’s my thoughts.
Thank you for your insight we tend to go round in circles in mu brain in this hobby... but learn new things every day. Please feel free to share anytime 👍🙏👊
@PharmaZ,
Citric acid kinda for mobilizing organic phosphorus in soil. Though, apparently, it can be used as a foliar spray as well (other purpose though, more against pathogens). But since it's so ubiquitous to plants, I dunno exactly what the effects foliar would be (but it's clearly not gonna be for phosphorus, as such).
Just wondering about it, especially the LAB, because it's apparently rather good but I don't see people often using it. I'll probably try it on some new plants growing in winter, I usually try some experimental things. Foliar feeding imo is something I do a couple of times before flowering, very little effort, material used, potentially good gains. I've tried a bunch of strange foliar mixes, mostly with good results. Almost never burns and shit like that (and I've tried some completely out of whack sprays).
@Malina, wow, thank you my friend! that’s nice to know as I have 2 more seeds to pop another day!
I can see how frosty all the phenos look so far from your diaries.
I like My medicine to be as strong as possible for my head as it numbs my thoughts :)
Gardening is therapeutic in itself.
