**Update Grow Tent Talk**
Since the last update I’ve trimmed inward facing fan leaves if that explains my defoliation method.
And the entire veg I’ve been manipulating branches with only a pinch and twist with my fingers. No ties/stakes used to get the canopy flat this time.
Since learning “basics of how to grow” now I’m trying to perfect the little things which ultimately are much bigger than we thought. First is VPD, I’ve been growing for just over 10 years and I had never heard that term until last year.
“VPD why is it important?”
My understanding so far is that it literally controls the rate plants can grow. There are positive and negative pressure created from the balance between mainly heat & humidity.
If you satisfy the plants with a neutral VPD of around 1.0 growth will be consistent through the whole period. If you manipulate the VPD to get your environment “dialled in” you will be able to see healthy growth and a more balance watering program to say the least (reduce risk of pathogens as well)
To control your grow room may take tools like humidifier and dehumidifiers but it’s worth it for the sake of your hard work. After all dialling in VPD can prevent many problems within the Grow room.
New growers (Me included) often disregarded correcting the temperature and humidity, often thinking of it as a secondary requirement.
Times are changing and I hope more experienced growers can push the importance of Temp&RH in the future.
How did you come to VPD?
Last grow I suffered from extreme low humidity sometimes as low as 16% and I finally saw the effect of such a low humidity.
Plants had huge base stem but the growth up top got smaller and smaller. The soil was drying out in a matter of 3 days when the plants were only small.
The water I was feeding to the plant was being sucked out of the soil by the air (Im using Fabric Pots)
Because the water was going into the air faster than the plant could use it. This created problems with nutrients etc, I managed to increase humidity with a Humidifier and the health of the plants immediately bounced back.
So I just wanted to add this in here as it can to mind. Hope it could maybe help someone else take the time to control temp&Rh.

@Mrs_Larimar, so important!!
Mine is high rate too, this time the only seed not to germinate was an “11 roses” by delicious seeds...
it was a 5 year old seed at least :(
I much prefer to skip paper towel method now :)
@Mrs_Larimar, thank you dear, I’m just amazed that I got them to 7 weeks with only Growzyme, Humic acid plus and More roots!! I didn’t feed organic grow once XD
lets talk per Pm about lightdistance
and light intensity
i see it for alonger time now, but dont wanted to say anything,,, but now that you are asking i would have afew thoughts
@Mrs_Larimar, Go ahead I would appreciate all of you’re advice always thank you!
I’m 12/12 400w max with distance of 32” that’s reading between 500-600ppfd across the canopy.
Do you think I leave my light where it is and let them stretch to it? Can they handle 900ppf with no co2? I’ve never measured my PPfd until I got this app, but things are looking good. I will update again tomorrow :)
@Mrs_Larimar, Awesome! I will go and check them out now. I’m seriously considering cloning these. Strains just so if I get a winner pheno I don’t lose it.
Regretting not cloning my recent FFT10 :)
@PharmaZ, Thank You so much and I will take you up on that offer 🙏 I can fully understand the mastering your craft...I am currently working on an organic companion growing concept...My first grow with all inputs will be on my Gorilla Glue grow I got her companions sprouting with her now and will add a living mulch sometime next week...Thank you for taking the time to chat..if you could take a look at my Purple Punch and let me know what you think so far I would greatly appreciate your thought👊
@@Trumptight420, thank you for the kind words friend! I believe everyday is another day to learn something new and grow... so keep on hunting for those gems and keep reading everyday something new.
Crystal candy was really sweet tasting a caramel sort. Not fruity as such. I could have done her better if I’d started flushing week 6 of flower but I kept pumping them that run and they all went a lil green. But it was a lesson learned im trying best to master my inputs to really truely understand what plants want as much as they let me 😂
But yea feel free to hit me up anytime if you want a 2nd opinion.🙏👍
@PharmaZ, Grow strong friend...If you EVER have and input as how to make my grows better please feel free to give your advice! Stay tuned my friend there's an update tomorrow! Thanks for stopping by and showing some love🙏 Also, how did you like your crystal candy F1? I saw it on your page but haven't had the time to check out raw grow, believe it or not I read everything on the diaries, there's a lot of hidden gems in them😎
Very well balanced grow dude. Like, seriously.
A lot of people be like "But it's not as purple as I wanted it to be". And then I'm like, if it's green and gold, it's even better.
Have you checked out lactic acid bacterias? Maybe citric acid effects?
@PharmaZ,
Yeah look, I work with STUPID heavy clay (check this).

So what I used was calcitic lime, kelp and molasses (cheapest "bulk" shit I figured would improve the soil, AND IT DID!)
I use lots of calcium, like, I find people tend to use too much magnesium often, tbh. And yes, I know it relates to the phosphorus uptake, as well as "sweetness" or flavour, oil production in general, BRICS for the plants. But, additionally, citric acid makes phosphorus more available. Plants can exude acids, direct or indirect, like perhaps associated symbiotic microbes, (for shit like citric acid) to help mobilize phosphorus. So just something to keep in mind in case you seemingly have phosphorus in the soil but it's not being taken up properly.
Btw, 200kg of feed grade calcitic lime, 25kg of blackstrap molasses and 5l of kelp is what I used (though I haven't used half of it, except the molasses, which I've been eating and making "beer" with but it's lasted like more than a year). Cost for that? A bit less than 30usd...
@sir_isO, ahhh, I see where you’re coming from now. I will tell you my thoughts...
I had more than enough P my soil it was bat guano based and I top dressed with High P guano.
My problem was not enough Calcium. My water from the tap is 0.1EC
for the first month to 6 weeks I only needed to water 1 time per 7-10 days... so when I did have to water I had to think what do they need for such a long period of time. (High humidity in veg is the way to go for soil)
Unfortunately I wasn’t adding enough calcium I honestly believe this was my problem. Come harvest my plants stems where hollow...
There is a relation between phosphorus and calcium.
I generally add enough cal/mag but this time didn’t because of how well the soil was preforming without any real use of NPKs for the first 7 weeks.
When I look back on this grow, if only I had lowered the light and added more Calcium... that’s my thoughts.
Thank you for your insight we tend to go round in circles in mu brain in this hobby... but learn new things every day. Please feel free to share anytime 👍🙏👊
@PharmaZ,
Citric acid kinda for mobilizing organic phosphorus in soil. Though, apparently, it can be used as a foliar spray as well (other purpose though, more against pathogens). But since it's so ubiquitous to plants, I dunno exactly what the effects foliar would be (but it's clearly not gonna be for phosphorus, as such).
Just wondering about it, especially the LAB, because it's apparently rather good but I don't see people often using it. I'll probably try it on some new plants growing in winter, I usually try some experimental things. Foliar feeding imo is something I do a couple of times before flowering, very little effort, material used, potentially good gains. I've tried a bunch of strange foliar mixes, mostly with good results. Almost never burns and shit like that (and I've tried some completely out of whack sprays).
@Malina, wow, thank you my friend! that’s nice to know as I have 2 more seeds to pop another day!
I can see how frosty all the phenos look so far from your diaries.
I like My medicine to be as strong as possible for my head as it numbs my thoughts :)
Gardening is therapeutic in itself.
хорошего дня
@PharmaZ, Привет, Мой Соратник ))) Доброго Утра)
