One of my Mace Windu plants was deformed and died :( As they were freebies, I didn't have any more to replace the one that died, but I did have a couple of Double Grape from the Mephisto Reserva line. I replaced it with not one, not 2 but 3 more plants :) Only way to go to be honest. So 2 of the 3 new plants are Double Grape, and the other is a Mimosa Evo from Barney's Farm which will have a separate diary.
Seeds were soaked in water for ~12 hours before going into paper towels. 24 hours later and tails were good on all seeds, so they went into starter pots with 70/30 coco/perlite mix and being fed just a small trace of MC in ph'd water. Germination went nice and smooth and seeds broke ground about 36 hours after planting.
Not much to say, first week is always fairly trivial. Feeding them ph'd water with just a small amount of MegaCrop (around 0.5g/gal).
So far so good, will transplant them into final containers later this week.
Heard a lot of good stuff about this strain, excited to see how these turn out!
Transplanted them into their final containers at the beginning of the week which are 15 liter autopots. Both are fine, although one seemed to take the transplant a little harder than it's sister and took a couple of days to pick back up.
Feeding has been gradually increasing through the week, up to 2.5 grams of MC per gal by the end of the week. they are looking a little light in color, so I think they could stand a little more.
So, 3 weeks into the grow and the girls have taken off this week. Had to move them into another tent as the bigger plant needed some space.
I have been gradually increasing the MC, and currently up to 3.75 grams per gallon, and they seem to be loving it. No signs of any nute burn, so will continue to keep upping the dose.
Feeding schedule is 4 waterings a day, 500ml a time. Runoff EC still below input, so all good there.
Will be fimming these girls and starting LST any day now.
Peace out til next week.
Right, after a few easy weeks, it's time to make things happen. This week was all about the training. Both plants underwent defoliation, then fimming, then some quite brutal LST, and then some more defoliation later in the week. The pics tell the story.
Due to space issues, I've had to split the 2 Double Grape girls up. One was growing over the others in the small tent, so she had to go in with the flowering Mace Windu. This does mean that one is getting better light than the other - Will have to see what difference that makes in the end!
Feeding schedule has been increasing through the week and they are now at 5g a gallon of MC and sucking it up. This is definitely going to be the nute range I'm sticking with, so much easier than messing around with 5 different bottles and the plants love it.
I have tied these girls down hard with LST and they have opened up nicely. First few pistils were popping out this morning, they gonna hit the pre-flower stretch this week I think. Will push the nutes a little higher as they are showing no signs of burn.
Very happy with the training this week, they are all set to S-T-R-E-T-C-H their little arms to the sky :)
Until next week!
The girls are well and truly into flowering now, and I am looking to start adding Bud Explosion to the nutes this week. The big Mace Windu that one of the DG's is sharing a tent with is getting the chop soon, then both DG's will be in the same tent at least, and on autopots, so feeding will be less of a chore.
EC is at max level for MegaCrop, around 1.7. Adding Bud explosion will raise that higher, but MegaCrop amount will reduce. No signs of any nute burn, could have pushed these a lot harder I think, but still getting the feel of MC.
They both had a hard last defoliation ready for flowering and are going well. Faint smell starting to kick in.
The one that has been under the better light has had notably better growth, as expected. The KingBrite 480w is proving to be worth the import tax :) My grows are a bit out of sync with each other due to space, but once all my current plants are done I will aim for a bit more consistency. It's good to see the difference though, final yields will be telling.
Let's see what this week brings :)
Another good week for these 2 ladies :) They have progressed well into flowering now, although the one under the cheaper light seems to be a bit further behind and may take longer to finish as a result, but we shall see.
They have taken well to the Bud Explosion being added to the mix. Currently holding at 4g / gallon for MC (dropped back from 5), and gradually added BE up to 1g / gallon so far.
Both plants looking very healthy and thriving. First sign of frost creeping in, and they are starting to get fragrant. Continued with LST and defoliation, they have both trained very well and should flower well.
Will continue to raise the BE this week and see how they go.
Until next week, friends!
Both the DG girls are now together in the larger tent under the better lights, and they have had a crazy week of growth. The one on the left has had the better light for longer, and it shows. The other one is a bit behind, but definitely starting to put on weight. I think it will prob be a longer finisher, we will see.
Feeding schedule:
2g / gallon Mega Crop
0.5ml / liter calmag
1.5g / gallon Bud Explosion
1ml / liter PK 13/14
Will feed the PK 13/14 for one week only, then up BE to 2g / gallon.
Smell has come alive this week :) Deliciously spicy, like mulled wine almost. Frost is piling on nicely. Prob about 3-4 weeks left, maybe longer for the one on the right.
Happy growing all!
Another week down, and these girls are now definitely sprinting towards the finish line. Couple of weeks to go.
Buds are stacking on weight and swelling up nicely. Sticky as hell and starting to stink the place up good and proper.
Will very gentle ease the EC down to around 1.3 over the coming weeks while they finish up, but the hard work has been done here, I can just sit back and watch them ripen up :)
Until next week!
Wahoo!! Last weekly update here, we're heading for the chopping block sometime this week.
They have ripened a lot over the past week, smell has become quite strong indeed. It's lost some of it's sweetness and become more earthy and whole.... like a light and fruity red wine slowly maturing into a rich, full bodied Merlot.
Trichomes took a while to go cloudy, but once they had, they started popping amber very quickly. We're at 10-20% already, so hopefully can find the time to harvest in the next few days.
Will be back with the harvest details, pics, final weights etc once all this has been hung & dried for a week or 2.
Happy days!
I had heard a lot of good things about DG, and it definitely lives up to the hype! The frostiest plants I've grown yet! Trichome production on this reserva strain is just off the scale. Early flowering had a very light, sweet fruity smell, which became a lot earthier and richer over time ending up with a thick dank stench with undertones of mulled wine.
Smoke is flavorful and aromatic. The buzz is definitely more of a relaxing one. Great to chill out with a movie. And lots of snacks. The munchies are strong with this one. Although I did end up harvesting a good 5 days later than intended and the amber trichs were a bit more advanced than I'd have liked (prob around 30-40% amber) so it does feel quite heavy.
The smaller plant gave 3.5 ounces of dried bud, and the bigger plant yielded just shy of 4.5oz, clearly having benefited from the extra light in veg. All together the harvest was just under 8 ounces of bud, 60 grams trim / larf for edibles and 11.5 grams of some really good hash.
This strain has an awesome reputation, and it's easy to see why. If you ever see it come up on the strain list, be sure to grab a few seeds :)
This has been such an awesome grow. I grew these right alongside my first photo period plant, and my attention was often focused on that plant, and these girls pretty much just grew by themselves. No funny marks, no worrying colors, no nute issues, no problems at all and no need for much attention at all really. Responded beautifully to fimming and LST and just grew like little troopers!
The plant that had the extra light was understandably the bigger of the 2 plants, by nearly a full ounce. A smidge under 8 ounces was the final tally in terms of dry bud jarred and cured for smoking. A further 60 grams from some airy buds and sugar leaf trim which will be used for edibles. And also, yielded 11.5g of some very nice hash using the dry sift from the harvest trim bin (The amount of trichomes on this strain was unbelievable).
Very pleased with the results all round! Big thanks to Mephisto Genetics, this is the second Reserva strain I've grown, and it's another winner :)
