Getting pretty bushy...they're closing in on 16" tall and I don't have a ton of height after the canopy distance to the lamp so it's time to flip the lights to 12/12.
Black DOG #1 looks to be much further along than the others. At day 37 of bloom, the pistils are turning orange, leaves turning purple and all trichs are cloudy so this will be the last feeding for her. The others will get another week of feeding and a week flush. Gave them all a light defoliation in the middles to increase the airflow under the canopy.
This is only my second grow so I'm still learning a lot. Fertilizers and watering are probably what I struggle with the most...how much to give, how often etc. I've been erring on the lighter side of things (half strength fertilizer, perhaps underwatering) so I don't ruin anything. Feel pretty good about this one. Buds are getting thick and the smell is strong. These strains are supposed to finish between 48-55 days so it's not far off!
To the next! 🍻
Removed a plant from the main room because I saw signs of mite damage on a few leaves. It's been treated with diatomaceous earth and in quarantine. Thankfully after close inspection, there was no sign of damage on the rest. With 2 weeks left, my fingers are crossed the buggers stay gone. Last week of fertilizer and I'll start flushing with AN's Flawless Finish.
To the next! 🍻
Getting close to the end!! There's a strong smell of mango in the air. Myrcene perhaps? Rubbing the leaves produces a pleasant scent of pine. Trichomes are mostly cloudy with no signs of amber. There's one plant that's ready at day 49. I'm flushing using Advanced Nutrients Flawless Finish. The water is heated to 24c to help break down any salt build up.
It's going to be nice to clean this room out to get the next ones going!
Giving these last two another week at most given the burst of new growth. Cut two down on day 61, Black DOG #2 (quarantined, not pictured) was also cut down at day 55. Will add the rest of the pictures and yields to the harvest week update.
To the next! 🍻
I harvested when all trichomes were cloudy, with only a few amber. The result was a nice uplifting high that lasted for a few hours. Found smoking a lot can bring on a headache, which is apparently common with the Emerald Headband genetics. One of three plants went purple and had, by far, the most dense buds of the three and a heavy coating of trichomes. Trimming wasn't too bad with her high bud to leaf ratio. They grew short and stout as advertised and definitely benefited from LST. Great smell of berries and skunk and taste that hints at pine and wood. Maybe not the most potent, but overall a solid strain.
Fast finisher, the Black DOG was done between 49-61 days. LST is a must to get a decent yield. She stays short and stocky and produces THICK colas of dense buds. I stepped on the nutrients around week 5 (1100 ppm) and she responded well with only minor leaf tip yellowing. A quality offering from Humboldt that anyone can grow and be happy with.
Uplifting with a nice body effect, Bubba '76 is nice daytime smoke. Tastes and smells of lemon and pine and is very resinous. Gloves, two pairs of scissors and isopropyl alcohol were key for trimming.
This is my first experience with ETS seeds and I'm very pleased with results. They stayed short and stout throughout the grow and really packed on the weight late in the bloom phase. Each plant yielded over 100g (dry) of resinous flower, with the top producer weighing 125g. LST was heavily deployed throughout the grow until week 5 of bloom. Most of the mains grew like a 3-pronged spear with a larger, denser cola in the middle and two side branches that grew into the main. Given the density of the colas, I decided on trimming them apart to avoid the chance of mold. I'm definitely keeping this strain going in veg to run again. A great producer that can be grown in small spaces, Bubba '76 is a great all-around strain
@MrJones this was my 2nd attempt and I think I'm making some decent progress. A lot to learn and read...It definitely helps to have this community for pointers along the way. Thanks for checking out the grow homie
@Rock_n_Roll_Randy, Supposed to be a super potent strain but I've never seen it around. She's a 9-10 week Indica and doesn't have a high yield so maybe that's why. I'll take quality over quantity any day though 🌬️
@Rock_n_Roll_Randy, Absolutely. After this fall I'm starting all new strains. Trying to choose 4:
Granddaddy Black
Cement Shoes
The True OG
DarkStar Kush
French Macaron
Cafe Racer
Zkittles Glue
