To germinate the seeds, i first placed the four seeds in 250ml of filtered water and left them in dark spot for 18h. I then took the seeds and water and put them into a folded paper towel which was put on a plate and put back in a dark spot. After about 2 days all four had sprouted taproots of about an inch and were placed into the fabric pots.
Day 1: Watered with plain pH water (6.05, 105ppm) x2
All 4 plants have come through the medium and sprouted well and are about 0.5-1cm tall. The lights are on Veg and are about 26inches above the plants, will lower this over the next two weeks. Flash flood rain has risen to about 10cm above the bottom of the tent.
Day 2: Watered with plain pH water (6.05, 105ppm) x2
Plant leaves are starting to spread out. Same conditions as yesterday.
Day 3: Watered with nutrient water (6.00, 350ppm) x2
Looking good. The leaves are spreading out and the seedlings are growing upwards, about 2cm now. Lowered the light 1 inch today. Watered 2x today about 250ml
Day 4: Watered with nutrient water (6.10, 350ppm) x2
Good growth on the right two with the left two being slightly slower. Left back hasn't pushed in leaves out fully will have to watch that one.
Day 4: Watered with nutrient water (6.00, 300 ppm) x2
The plants are growing but no rapid growth yet not sure if this is up to genetics, environment, watering or normal.
Day 5: Watered with nutrient water (6.00, 300 ppm) x2
Lowered the amount of water to about 200ml per plant per 24h. Left back is growing slowest and the leaves haven't folded out
Day 6: Watered with nutrient water (6.10, 300 ppm) x2
Watering around the plant and not the whole pot. Will start to water with runoff in Week 2. PPM runoff seems to be a bit high around 600 out compared to 300 in. The environment in the tent is quite stable and the water in the bottom of the tent has mostly gone and humidity is lowering from 99 down to low 90s. In week 2 I will start to water more and will start the dehumidifier. I have placed sticky traps in the pots as there are a few bugs flying around, nothing bad yet. Will not up the nutrients until the plants develop their second set of leaves.
Day 7: Watered with nutrient water (6.10, 300 ppm) x1
Only watered once today as I forgot, seemed to harm the plants a bit, I also forgot to take a photo. I will be changing some of the conditions next week like increasing the temperature, feeding and humidity as the plants grow.
Day 8: Forgot to take photo of today and yesterday. The plants have seemed to stall a bit with only a bit of growth from the plants. I have therefore increased the amount I water from 250ml/24h to 500ml/24h per plant. As it is now week 2 I have also bumped up the nutrients to 1mL/L or around 600ppm.
Day 9: Water with nutrients (6.15 pH, 630ppm) x2
The front right plant is looking good, the front left and back right are looking mutated with the leaves curling sideways. The back right is not looking good and was the smallest from the start. Started the dehumidifier today and closed the tent, this should hopefully push the temperature up to 24-25C and push the humidity down from 99% to 70%.
Day 10: Water with nutrients (6.15 pH, 630ppm) x2
From watering today i have noticed that the plants growth has slowed right as it should be takin off. Will double check ph and ppm, light height and other parameters.
Day 11: Water with nutrients (6.15 pH, 630ppm) x2
Day 12: Water with nutrients (6.15 pH, 630ppm) x2
The plant growth seemed to stall for some reason, possibly ph issue, but seems to be starting up again
Day 13: Water with nutrients (6.15 pH, 630ppm) x2
Plants seem to be growing slowly but don't show any signs of deficiency. The one in the back left is not doing well (mutation from the start)
Day 14: Water with nutrients (6.15 pH, 630ppm) x2
Will be upping the nutrients to 1.5ml today as they start to go into week 3 and lowering the ph down to 5.8-5.9
Day 15: Watered with nutrients (6.00, 900ppm)
Used 1.5ml of the ph perfect range per L, up from 1. Also lowered the light to 18 inches the plants seem to have started growing after stalling for a few days.
From now on I will be feeding 4ml/L of each of the 4 grow nutrients until the flush at the end of the plant life. The nutrients should automatically balance the ph to around 6.0 meaning I shouldn't have to use any ph down. Struggling with the high humidity and slow growth.
A few problems this week, especially with the humidity being too high and stalling the plant growth. I have left the tent open for now but the ambient humidity is way too high for the small dehumidifier to handle. Will be purchasing and setting up a new one in the next few weeks so I can close the tent and run the exhaust fan and carbon filter as the plants go further into flower.
Having calcium deficiencies so I have decided to flush each of the plants with ph'd water. Seems to have worked well as the plants are growing well now. at 0.5inch a day. Im keeping the light at about 12-13 inches above the canopy. I have both veg and bloom lights on for 200w of light. The low stress training over the last 2 weeks has worked very well, as each plants has 5+ different shoots and the canopy is spread out. The initial growth problems and lack of stretching mean the plants are quite short and compact. By the end of this I should be done with low stress training and focusing on stretching the plants.
As I am watering twice a day and I have had nutrient lockout issues I have decided to halve the nutrients used for now. The plants are streching about an inch a day and have had good growth over the last week. As they are now well into week 7, the plants seem to be lagging behind slightly which should hopefully not be an issue and allow the plants to grow a bit more and produce more bud sites. I have received the dehumidifier and will be setting this up and this should hopefully be able to drop the humidity from 70-80% toward 50%. Temperature in the tent is ok at around 20c and I may be purchasing a co2 meter as I am to close up the tent as the plants begin to smell more
The plants have had excellent growth this past week and I've had to drop the plants to the ground and max out the height of the light. By the end of this week the plants are around 30 inches tall and are inches away from the plants. I have run out of pH perfect nutrients and switched to Hygen Coco. They seem to be working well and I have still not spotted any deficiencies. I have started defoliation, removing a few leaves every watering to open up light to the bud sights. The FL and BR have lots of high up colas compared to the other two plants which have colas lower down, not getting much light. The modified setup with the extra dehumidifier and the diy CO2 seems to be doing it's job with the humidity around 60% constantly.
