Went in to the system last night, it’s been 6 years since my last hydro grow but looking forward to this run and some pheno hunting.
I have grown the runtz muffin in organics and in coco so thought I may as well try them in hydro too.
Seem to look a little over watered, probably should have let them root out the blocks a little more before transplant. Also humidity is on the low side but still growing at a fantastic rate.
The plant in the middle is getting removed, seems to be the runt of the litter no pun intended
Left the tank a little too long to be changed and ph starting to dip and plants showed a deficiency but a fresh tank in and swapped the 400w for a 600w hps for its last week before flower.
Also fimmed 3 out of the 4 plants which is something I have not done for at least ten years
Two plants performing better than the rest but going to try and keep them all the same height before flipping to 12/12
Height has almost doubled in one week, 2 of them are a bit bigger than their siblings but all looking very good although the front right plant seems to be the runt of the family although it’s improving.
Low humidity seems to be causing what looks like heat stress, apart from that they are growing at a phenomenal rate. Going to try and raise the light another inch but it’s already mounted pretty much to the top of the tent.
I forgot how insane hydro growth is lol, next time I will be sure to flip them to 12/12 when they are a little smaller lol
Digital ballast broke while I was checking them, luckily I had a old magnetic ballast to replace it with.
Did a little defoliation and tied a few branches in better positions, one plant in particular is huge compared to the others but did a good job of making sure it doesn’t overshadow the others.
All going pretty well
Light is at its maximum height and could do with being raised another inch or so, going to try and tie the reflector directly to the top of the tent. Stretched more than anticipated lol.
Slight tip burn so backed off the nitrogen and added the pk, I think they are a touch too dark green but will rectify during this week. Surprising considering the EC is only 1.4
Leaves seem to showing a slight Nitrogen toxicity so lowered EC to 1.3 while maiming a decent PK spike. Surprised by this as my max EC has been 1.5.
One plant started showing balls on a low branch so that was removed, hopefully I didn’t miss anything but hairs are still white and calyx have no signs of seed in.
Seem to be slower finishing this time around, maybe due to the excess N or the fact I tried to push them a little close to the edge with the gap between the light and the canopy.
Coming along nicely, luckily it seems I spotted the hemi in time and removed it without pollinating the other 3 remaining girls.
Two out of the three have a amazing candy/sweets type of smell, think I may have hit the terpene jackpot with them. The other one smells ok but nothing compared to the other two.
Cuttings have been taken so next run I will be using only my favourite phenos.
Looks like they could be done in 8 weeks but I am going to run them the full 9. Thc production is just crazy which is what I expect after growing this many times in various mediums.
I have 8 cuts from these plants in 6 inch rockwool blocks which are absolutely huge ready to go in for the next round. But this time using a very good 630w LED.
Finishing up beautifully and really happy with all 3 plants. Yield is looking a little less than I expected but it was only a hunt for the right pheno so I am still very happy.
Hung them to dry today, very happy to say I have found 3 very very good keeper phenos which doesn’t surprise me as I have grown many seeds of this before. The pictures and video tell more than words can say.
I have named my favourite pheno ‘john wayne’ as I have a convoy swagger about my walk every time I look at her😂 I lost this pheno a few months ago and so relieved to have her back plus two other great phenos.
Barneys absolutely provides some real fire genetics and I have been a fan since blue cheese and pineapple chunk were released many years ago.
Insane THC production, probably the most thc packed strain I have seen.
Three phenos, one more gelato leaning and probably the most thc content, one fruity more purple pheno and one that was a mix of the two but real strong zkittlez terpene.
Really happy with the quality, only had three plants so yield was down on usual.
The THC content was absolutely insane, two of the phenos had a zkittlez terpene and the other was more gelato leaning.
This is my favourite strain of barneys to date👍
Sweeeet! I have already been a following all of your previous Runtz Muffin grows. I am starting my batch in about 2 weeks (tent in drying mode now) and cannot wait. Will be using your tomes of knowledge to assist. You are like my Runtz Muffin Yoda, I will not disappoint. 😂👍👽

I do like this strain but find it can be not quite as easy as others to keep looking perfect. But some of the phenos are absolutely top class cannabis.
@XoticGROW666, the strain likes strong lighting and pretty low strength feeding levels.
Cons are it’s a fine line between enough light and too much. Also it’s very sensitive to nutrients and is quite hemi prone from too much light.
That’s why I mention it’s a fine line as it needs a lot of light to get the ‘Cali’ type look and tight bud structure but then a little too much and it can hemi.
Even with all that is is still my favourite plant to grow ever lol.
Yield is on the middle end and to get a good results it needs to be manipulated via scrog or other techniques. Hopefully my latest hydro run where I focussed on multiple heads should get a better result than my previous attempts brother👍
@XoticGROW666, thank you brother. If you look at my previous runtz muffin organic grow I think it was on the same level as this.
I am doing a new grow but with a 600w LED which is going real well too.

I used to do DWC before and kinda miss checking roots from time to time 😊 And any plans on training these ladies?
@bobtheblob, forgot to mention I am not going to create a full canopy this run as it’s a pheno hunt so may top once or twice and let them go. Next run I will be going for maximum yield👍
@bobtheblob, katana roots is my favourite root stimulator. I used to love the house & garden roots accelerator but they changed the formula and the price is insanely high.
And yes I missed hydro so so so much, it definitely is my favourite style of growing👍 I have done nft, dwc, recirculating dwc, Wilma drip systems and flood and drain. Only thing I have not done is aeroponics as one pump failure for a few hours and it’s game over lol
This has been the main one I’ve been looking forward to the most man, can’t wait to see how it turns out.. if it goes as well as I think it will I’ll just have to research true hydro myself.
@Jayvo, I am a hydro guy at heart. It’s what I started on many years ago and find easiest/in my comfort zone.
Already zero transplant shock and only problem is my mh bulb decided to stop working so making do with a old 600w hps dimmed to 400 until the new one arrives

@DoDrugs420, agreed brother. Quite low yielding but quality is 10/10 in all aspects. I have grown it in organics using soil, coco and hydro in two different systems and can’t stop growing it. In fact all my diaries but one are runtz muffin lol
Wow, this is amazing, very top shelf. I did not expect hydro to make such a massive difference in terms of looks, looks straight out of a Cali tin haha I hope grow something of this quality some day

It’s been a while since I have done hydro and there was a few teething problems but very happy with the results. Bro I am sure you will produce similar quality, genetics play such a big part.
