Put up a new baby tent: 30"x18"x36" mainly because it fits so nicely under a shelf in this closet. I'll use it for clones, seedlings & vegging.
Planted 2 feminized seeds of each strain: Bubba Kush S1 and Girl Scout Cookies S1 from CSI Humboldt
Three out of four seeds germinated. One bubba did not. GSC seedlings stretching more than I expected as they were under lights for 16 hours at around 250 PPFD.
I also transplanted into 5" pots, and moved in some clones that had been rooting in the aeroponic Clone King 25.
Seedlings are doing great. May be due to adding a humidifier to the tent, which is turned on as needed to keep the humidity in the mid 60's. Also started them on nutrients this week. Almost time to repot -- perhaps into 3 gal fabric pots.
Also removed the clones from my other grow out of this tent. Those are repotted and put under low light (150 PPFD) in the bathtub grow room. This is not really a part of this grow, but I will keep track of them here so that I can chart their progress.
Day 35.
LST for the GSC, since it is growing much taller than Bubba. Did top Bubba, but it's hard to tell since it grows so low anyway. This is the first I've grown with such low growth pattern.
My other grow in the flower tent still has roughly 3 weeks to go, including drying there, so these gals can't be flipped to flower until week 9.
Flipped both of these to veg today. So Flowering date flip is 5-15-21.
Bubba Kush in 30x18x36 tent. According to what I've read, Bubba doesn't stretch much at all, so I thought it'd do ok in a 3 ft tall tent flowering under the SF-1000s. We'll see. Bubba severely LSTed this week and last.
GSC alone in the 27x27 tent. Scroged this week. Already filled in the scrog, so flipped it. Lots of problems with the GSC, as it wasn't watered and fed well due to lots of family in the house and very little time to give them due to harvest of last crop.
Day 67 overall, and day 7 of flower.
Since the two plants are in different tents now, the stats above apply to the GSC in the 27x27 tent.
Switched nutes to Canna Coco A&B at the suggestion of my local hydro store owner. After using once on the GSC, saw immediate overnight improvement on a plant that was showing a lot of stress issues. Second use, though, showing some nutrient overload in the GSC (ends of leaves discolored). Bubba just sucks everything up and continues to look good.
Defoliated both plants as you can see in the pics.
Day 74 Total, Flowering Day - 14
Watering now with PH meter, so watering at 5.8 accurately.
Stats apply to GSC since these are grown in 2 different tents.
Bubba is so easy to grow and shows no stress. Beautiful dark green leaves. Hope it keeps growing so easily and shows itself to be potent. I'll grow it again from the clones I have taken. Defoliated today. Bubba has light only 5 in from top 14" cola. Hoping it is done stretching. has stretched maybe 4 in total.
GSC looking wonderful and filling up SCROG. When I first put it in the tent it looked pretty weak, but with new Canna Coco nutes it is beautifully recovered and filling in. Defoliated today.
Day 84 total and Day 28 of flower.
Wow, these plants are coming along nicely. I'm looking forward to harvesting some GSC & Bubba S1's.
Defoliated pretty heavily to reduce crowding, lower RH, and focus growth on buds. I'm not sure about the science on defoliation, but everybody seems to be doing it, so I am too. Bro science? Either way, it does help with RH and reduce chances of bud rot.
The last picture shows the 3 clones I replanted (and threw away 3) that will take the flower tents in a few weeks (maybe). These were cloned a few weeks back, and I have had them on the back burner waiting -- only 25 PPFD light for 20 hours, no nutrients and on the self-watering tray (About 5% of light's dimmer setting). This tray is from Burpee and is wonderful. I didn't need to self water those clones, only keep the tray filled about 1-2 times per week. This method allows you to keep clones for a perpetual harvest every 2 months, but not have the hassle of keeping mother plants. It's all explained here:
https://www.rollitup.org/t/vegncobs-how-much-light-do-we-need.892124/#post-12129880.
Genius!
Now the clones are ready for some faster, but still paced vegetation growth at 250 PPFD at 20 hours/day. That is only 25% of the cheap LED's dimmer setting. (NB - You don't need expensive lights for vegetation.)
Day 91 Total and Day 35 of Flower.
Today added Blumat automatic watering cones, since I will be on vacation next weekend. Need to test to see if they work well enough for me to be gone 5-6 days. I put 4 cones on the GSC (7 Gal pot), and 2 on the Bubba (3 gal pot), since I normally give the GSC twice the water that I give to Bubba.
GSC buds look amazing. Filling in a lot. Should be some dense buds.
Bubba looking great too.
Nothing looks stressed.
Day 106, Flower Day 50.
Looked at Trichomes this morning. GSC still showing some glassy/milky look. Bubba is pretty milky colored. Still needs at least a week.
Went on vacation last week. Had somebody else water. They closed the door, so not as good air circulation. Bubba showed powdery mildew. Not yet severe, so I took the plant outside, trimmed off some fan leaves that showed mildew. Then I sprayed the entire plant with a 25% milk solution (whole milk) and let it dry. Back in the tent. Cranked up the inline fans and added a small fan to the Bubba tent. Just need a couple more weeks.
Day 113, Flower Day 57.
Harvested Bubba Kush today as I felt nervous with it from last week's powdery mildew. It is hanging on hangers in the small tent drying now.
GSC is going to get 1-2 more weeks.
Bubba Kush was harvested after completing 8 weeks in flower. I harvested early due to fears of powdery mildew coming back after milk treatment. However, the trichomes were pretty cloudy.
Yield was pretty good for 3.75 sq ft, and only 3 ft of height in the tent.
Effects bring on happiness, relaxation & sleepiness on first trial before weed is cured. My wife says I was saying goofy shit just after a couple of hits on the Volcano vape bag.
Day 120, Flower Day 63 (end of week 9 of flower)
Checked trichomes today on the GSC. Some pictures they look too glassy, and some show some amber trichomes. I decided to harvest today, although I could have waited a week.
Filled 6 hangers with GSC cuttings, and have converted bathroom into a dry room. I have a humidifier and a fan in there, plus there's a central air vent, and the room stays pretty cool in the summer. Seems like ideal drying temperature and RH avg of around 60 F.
This GSC plant will be my biggest yielding plant to date. I'm thinking 5+ oz once dried.
Yield in the 27"x27" tent was 7.36 oz, which is much better than the 4 oz of the first grow.
On initial test, the GSC is a wonderful vape. Relaxing, yet awake and enjoying life.
