These Bruce banners have been the most consistent and well growing plants I’ve got from ILGM. I have not taken one to full harvest though so I’m hoping it’s a decent smoke. Right now I have one three weeks in the flower. I’ve been amazed with the growth of the one I have done so far. These for amazingly popped shell, popped they started plugs, and opened showing first leaf - all at the same time. I’ve never had seeds do that, they always seem to be off a few days or have late germination on some. I’m hoping that is an encouraging sign.

So I decided to transfer these into DWC and go hydro with these bad boys.. I’ll run them in this tote for about 7-14 days and then transfer to 5 gal containers.. I ended up using Rockwool cubes on the bottom half to help soak up nutrient solution for the first couple days.. MAR 16 mid week update So I transferred these from a few days in coco to DWC and it took a few days to adjust but they took right off today in growth. Everything is looking stellar

Straight forward week, aside from light leak issues.. new spider farmer above the plants, and not having big net pots with plenty of clay pebbles, something’s letting light thru. So I’ve changed nutes twice already this week just cuz of algae type growth on the sides of the tote. Was obvious there was an issue when I was getting spikes in pH within 24 hrs.. changed it out again last night and added cardboard for now to cover the net pots from most the light that could leak thru and cause issues. It’s always something.. but keeps me on my feet and busy! **Mid week update** Algae / light leak issue seems to be resolved for the most part. Could be several things -light leaking -old air stones with bacteria still in them -tote has been thru several grows now and could be harboring bacteria even tho it’s cleaned You’ll notice a bit of concerning color on roots - hoping that’s from the color from the micro nutes or residual from last change out. Next couple days I’m changing them to individual 13 gallon “EZ store” container

New homes for the girls Happy looking but there’s something still contaminating my fucking reservoirs and it’s driving me up a wall.. I got new stones, black totes, foil tape on air lines, I’m at a loss.. pH is going up from 6.0 to about 7.0 in 48 hrs

I’ve done DWC several times, not a newbie. Getting pH spikes from 6.0 to just under 7.0 in 48 hrs, and an algae like dark brown/reddish substance within 48hrs as well. New stones, black buckets, 950 GPH pump feeding 1 stone per bucket. Net pots covered with cardboard. What gives?

I think everyone contributed equally to this, and it’s still unknown exactly what was causing this.. but I’m thinking it may be part of the mechanism of hydro guard, cuz it’s disappears after a few days, like it says it turns bacteria into food for the plant so maybe that’s what’s happening. Thanks for input everyone

Damn these took off the past week.. I have worries about the roots but the dark brown that seems to be on them around the water level easily comes off when you jostle them for a few seconds.. root rot would certainly not do that in my experience So I’m starting to think maybe this is the hydroguard breaking down the organic bacterias.. I dunno man but the plants look excellent so I’m not stressing it. I’m also not seeing the pH spikes like before. Keeping a steady pH now, I noticed the back of the tent was moved closer to a heat register a few weeks ago, and I’m thinking they were getting some of that heat transferred into the water/nute reservoir.. after reconfiguring the tent, and giving them plenty of space off that back wall, they have seemed to be in much better shape and the pH spikes stopped. Topped all 4 plants on April 1. Clipped first node days before, then I topped above the 6th node, leaving 5 nodes total - or 10 branches Thinking I’ll take two clones from each and end up with 8 total main branches - 10 is kinda seeming like a lot now that I think about it. April 6 update- moved to new grow room instead of tents I’ve been using.. pumped to have more space for these plants going forward. More atmospheric variables to account for but we’ll see how that plays out. Took one node of fan leaves off each one. Pulling clones tonight from each one, will take one node (2 cuttings/branches) from each one 3 of these are looking like strong phenos, one of those 3 is almost certain to have some good color judging by her now.. April 8 mid week update Had some wilting from transition and nute change I believe as well as taking clones - 2 from each plant.. just added the LST clip 90 degree angle things which are pretty cool .. just got them today I think they’ll work well Thanks for stopping by an reading

PH maintaining steady level Finally Probably helps that these buckets are on the basement floor and that is much colder than any other floor on the first level. All fan leaves taken from main branch of each. 2 clones taken from each, now there’s 8 branches/4 nodes left after topping. #4 is def the runt, may not take her to flower.. not sure yet.. if I got space I will tho. 1,2,&3 all seem like great growers.. with #3 probably on top with #1 a close second Preflower pistils/stigmas showing even tho I haven’t switched to 12/12 yet.

Really going further than i usually do on veg but I’m really tryin to hone in on getting good yields now.. I’ve basically been strain hunting for my own needs the past year.. so I’ve done short veg periods or 12/12 from seed on occasion to speed up harvest, just to see if I enjoy the strain and how it grows, etc.. Anyways I’m gonna flip here soon. Do some defoliation and then flip within the week. Check out the new spider farmer diode configuration on the first pic of light as opposed to the second one. They’ve made it so that they concentrate diodes more on the edges so that the PPFD/PAR distribution is more even and stretches further outside the edges of the light..

Flipped to 12/12 like just under a week ago.. let them veg a bit longer than I wanted to but logistically had to.. so I defoliate a bit every day as they adjust and start stretching.. and implemented normal tie down LST because the red angle things I got just don’t quite get stems horizontal. They’re great for certain applications and I still ordered more and will use them often.. but to really gain some space between branches you gotta do some tying down I realized. Each 2 have a SF-2000 above them. So I have two length wise to cover the 4 BBs So much more nutrient and water being used with these buckets (they are 13 gallon) but my hope is the tall height of them will allow for better root growth and expansion. I’m let the same nutes run for 2 weeks and will change out to flower nutes within the next days. Doing weekly changes is just not economical with 10-11 gallons each. The micro alone is like 1/4 of a quart bottle. That’s the downside of larger scale DWC set ups I suppose..

Burnt tips a bit this week but going well Stretched like a mofo this week. Temps are getting crazy and humidity was bad enough I invested in a new dehumidifier.. I got trigger happy after seeing the excellent growth and structure of this plant last grow that I chose it as my main strain this grow - growing 4 in DWC .. but I’m not in love with the effects of it at this point so that sucks but nbd.. it’s still a decent smoke

So I killed off the two smaller ones, these are absolutely dominating this flowering room I’ve built. I’m even thinking about killing off these two just because they take up so much more space than others. Part of the reasoning there is that I just wasn’t that happy with the soil grow of Bruce Banner I did. Had lots of bananas show up (as well in both Durban’s I did from ILGM) now I understand that could’ve been my fault but I also have a close friend who grew Durban and Bruce as well and had a full on hermie Bruce and caught nanners on Durban As well.. of the 8 or so we grew from the pack of seeds, more than half showed bananas. That’s unacceptable in my book. I have lost a lot of faith in ILGM recently. I think they have some solid strains that they invested time in, and I think there’s some that they skimped on developing properly. I’m not willing to take the risk on new strains with them because of this. Hopefully I won’t have to buy any more from them honestly, I did a whole bunch of clones from the pure Indica of theirs. I would buy their blue dream again. That’s about it. Anyhow I don’t wanna deal with any of those issues so I’m gonna let this go another two weeks probably and see how developed the buds are, and if there’s any sign of bananas. I know this will yield a ton from the structure and size of this thing, but if it’s subpar flower there’s no point. Especially when I could fill that space with plants I’m confident in! We’ll see how it plays out. These stretched like no ones business. I’m having to prune way more than I’d like to and probably went over board.

Oh my gosh this is turning into a shit show. Sorry I haven’t updated in forever and this is gonna have to be quick because I have to update other diaries. So I haven’t been able to pay as much attention as I would’ve liked to these plants, and they threw me a curve ball as they’re drinking literally a gallon plus a day. I did not expect that and it threw me for a loop when I check the reservoir after two or three days and it was almost empty. And with that came a super high EC and super low pH because I had a concentrated solution in there at that point. Surely caused issues in the plant but I’ve strained it out since then And of course one of the Bruce banners is showing a few bananas. It’s getting really frustrating with these ILGM seeds... I’m on the verge of just chopping these and using the space for other flowering plants but I’m gonna try and let them go as long as I can - as long as I find no more bananas!!

Disclaimer- these two I have just let them do their thing ever since they out grew my expected parameters of height and size. I’ve not paid as much attention and care to these because they have been really hard to keep under control as far as pH and EC - unlike any DWC I’ve run before these are literally drinking 1-2 gallons a day consistently! What in the hell.. That wouldn’t be a huge deal if the pH and EC were staying on point relative to the amount of water lost - but they are not. So for example the are 13 gal containers and 10 or so fills them to the bottom of their net cup. They are filled up, 3-4 days later They’ve drank half that and the EC is double and the pH is down near low 5s. I don’t have the time to check and adjust these every 12 hours to keep them perfect. Because of that, there are obvious signs of ph and nute excess in the leaves With all that said I’m very happy with where they stand. 2 weeks back I found a few bananas on #1 BB and was pretty bummed the hell out but since then I’ve seen nothing to indicate that wasn’t just a one off banana. So that’s good. Buds are taking their time to develop compared to the other strains I have flowering from the same date (flipped most of them to 12/12 on 4/20😁) Hopefully they will still swell up and it’s not an issue.. but I’ve basically chalked this up as a loss so that I won’t be disappointed. It was mainly an experiment to test these buckets and the new room out. If these DO fill out tho to normal size on all the bud sites, it will EASILY be my biggest yield from a single plant. Id guess they’ll each be around 6-8 oz IF, again a very big IF, they continue to grow and the buds increase in size as normal. They look more like they would be more around like week 4 judging by bud development and size, but these are actually 39 days into flower, so like 5.5 weeks in. We will see! Thanks for stopping by and checking out the diary folks!

They’re still drinking a gallon a day.. totally throwing off my ability to maintain a decent pH and EC.. I think it’s the dehumidifier in here I upgraded that’s pulling it outta the buckets, just the water, not the nutes so it causes them to become concentrated and pH to drop Like I’ve said previously tho, I’ve just stopped trying to hard and letting these things go..

Probably gonna chop within 5-7 days.. I’ve been weaning the nutes down and there’s signs of stress. Likely from heat cuz it’s in the 80-85 range in the air so I’m sure the reservoir is well into the danger zone for temps but these girls are resilient!!

What up grow bros I’m chopping these tonight and tomorrow.. The BB #2 which most of the close up Pics are of - is getting some gorgeous red/purp colors. Leaning towards the strawberry diesel parent I believe, I can smell it. A distinct berry terpene as well as some gas/diesel going on as well. Love it Wish I would have given more attention to these two girls but unfortunately I thought they would turn out like my previous Bruce banner soil grow. More proof that seed to seed can be a total toss up on genetics. I’ve mentioned that before with ILGM.. not the most stable genes from seed to seed. That makes it frustrating at times, yet fun to hunt down diff phenos. The BB #2 is on the right side of most the flowering pics I’ve taken over the last several weeks. She did have the advantage of having more light from another SF2000 that was next to it during the whole flowering period. Because of this, she’ll certainly have more weight. BB#1 was great bud as well, but didn’t have the additional light from the other plants next to it like BB#2 had. It looks like BB#1 leaned more OG Kush, and BB#2 leaned more strawberry diesel. Thanks for stopping by and checking out the diary! Final harvest specs and weights in weeks to come!

Started with 4 plants.. cut down 2 which I kinda regret. Anyhow chose two nice phenos and I’ll keep the #2 likely because of nice color and density. As well as over all yield. These stretches so freaking much man.. I vegged longer than I should have for the size I wanted them. I just didn’t expect them to grow so vertically, so I was like clipping lower growth off in an effort to lollipop it probably twice a week. I’m still trying to decide on what growing medium to use going forward and I’ve got it down to DWC and coco/perlite.. I’ll probably shift to DWC so I can walk away from the grow for several days/week and be fine.. If I go with coco I’ll have to dump some $ and time into setting up a drip feed system and likely some drainage system as well.. BUT if I go with DWC I’ll likely have to set up some type of water cooling for the buckets for summer time..
