Hey fellas!
Never tried growing so this is the first time, watched a lot of videos and read a lot of articles for this!
I got a 40cm X 40 cm grow tent and a cheap TOPNET 75w light, I think it's going to be enough for one plant but feel free to chime in.
Using Biobizz light soil and nothing but PHed water @ 6.3 for the first week, will try out Biobizz Grow, topmax and Bloom starting from the second week (also some Cal mag as my water is fairly soft @ 200 PPM)
at the second/third week I'll add fan for circulation in the tent, at week four I think I'll get a Carbon filter with a blow off fan need to be stealthy on this one!
05/03: dropped the seed in a glass of water for 16h
06/03: moved it in a moist paper towel, temp stable at 25 C
08/03: thought it would take 3 days for it to germinate appropriately but the tail is looking great! I'm moving it into soil in the morning, lights on 24h, it's an auto so it's ok (using a 15L fabric pot, it's better than the plastic ones it seems) (also, I prewatered the soil until it was saturated so that I didn't have to water the seedling for a couple of days)
10/03: IT'S ALIIVEEEE! she's beautiful, btw her name is Marie (with a french accent and r) switching light schedule to 18h/6h now, not for the plan I think it can handle it, but the light manufacturer asks to not keep it on for 24h so...
12/03: the seedling is looking great as you can see from the latest pic, at this point the prewatering of the soil that I did is gone, I only give it PHed water @6.3 (500ml every time that it dries) until Monday, then I'll start with the nutrients
As you can see from my diary the seedling just sprouted, but if you look closely the leafes have some super small white tips. Any suggestions? Thanks ^^
To answer your question. The plant looks like one of the healthiest seedlings ever. Humidity domes are not necessary. Used to use one just slowed the grow for no reason. And 3-5 ml is nowhere near enough. I agree fill that pot with water. Man up and grow that sh!t brah!
Let's go for another week! The plant is looking great and I'm really happy about it!
15/03 Starting with the nutes today! Mainly Cal mag because my water is really soft and half the recommended dose of Bio Grow, still giving 500ml of water @6.3 ph for at least another week!
16/03 looking good! I gave it Bio bloom instead of Bio grow but it shouldn't be an issue, still, 500ml/24h @6.3 PH, added some cal-mag. I'm starting to think about what kind of training should I do, cutting off the tip is not suggested for autos but this Magnum usually goes for 13/14/15 weeks, plenty of time to recover from that before the flowering starts, but I think, since it's my first grow, that I'll go for LST, just to learn how to do it and overall I don't want to mess up the HST because of my inexperience
17/03 no news, still 500ml/24h @6.3 PH, no cal mag this time as I think I overdid this yesterday, plus, I want to set up a feeding schedule that features nutes/clean water/nutes/clean water, let's see how it goes!
21/03 it's starting to accelerate! Almost can't keep up :))) Nothing changed in the feeding, everything is going great. Starting from this week I'll add Bio Bloom to the Grow and Cal mag, from next week fish-mix and bio-heaven
24/03: It's kinda scary how fast this one is growing! after the first week it just started accelerating like a beast! might partially be because I started with the nutes... Anyway, no changes in schedules, feedings etc so far! I'm gonna wait another week or two before starting with the Low-Stress Training
29/3 it keeps growing faster! I'm almost afraid of the outcome here :)) from today I'm giving Marie more water, we're now at 1 liter PHed @6.3 every time that the soil is dry, like, every 3 days. same nutrients for now. I'm starting to think about Low stress training, maybe I'll start next Monday as for now there are only 4 nodes...
30/3 So, my 20 days old Magnum plant doesn't fit anymore in a 17 liters (5gall) pot?????? For some reason, it's not really growing in height as much as in-depth, this worries me a bit as I'm starting to think about how will I be able to LST the plant with so little space between nodes!
2/4 No water for a week now, only cal mag through foliar as a fellow grower suggested, the new leaves stopped showing the serrated edges so I guess he was right! so happy that he spotted it so early on!! As some thought, I did overwater the plant last week, on Sunday I gave it 1lt and it's still somewhat humid after 7 days without feeding, tomorrow or the day later I'll have to water it for sure. I also started LST, and it looks atrocious for now.
3/4 already bounced back from the LST!! if you look at the photo of today it looks wonderful!
4/4 2nd round of LST, moved it 30 degrees to one side, I'll do this every couple of days, hopefully, it'll be super-bushy!
My plant is not really increasing in height, in 20 days since sprouting it covered the 25cm diameter of the pot and now it's going out. It looks super healthy so I'm not too much worried but should I perhaps move the light higher so that the plant stretches a bit?
Hi there Matriosky, sorry but i have to disagree with my esteemed colleagues here, you have calmag deficiency as you can see from the yellowing on the serrated edges of the leafs starting with the newest growth first (immobile nutrient) and in between the veins starting at the base of the leaf. It's specifically magnesium deficiency. That's probably because of your intense light schedule : plants just need more Mg with strong lights or long schedules. So what you can do is to increase the calmag you're already feeding as well as to make a spray with calmag 1-2 ml / L and spray twice a week to compensate for the lights. If the problem persists you might need to reduce the light schedule to fix the root cause. If you do this the problem should stop spreading quite quickly and the plant should recover in around 10 days or less. Hope this helps ! 🚀
4/11 what a week it has been! The cal mag deficiency seems to be gone and the LST has done wonders! now under the main top there's a bushy plant and the overall impact looks amazing! it went for 9 days without water because my dum dum brain gave her too much, so I waited for the soil to dry off. On Friday I gave her 500ml with all the usual nutes, only swapped bio grow with fish mix, as it seems to be better in this stage. I'm still waiting for it to go into flowering stage, it's been a whole 30 days since sprouting but no sign of flowers (the smell is getting stronger though!!)
The only thing that worries me now is that in the past 5 days strange spots have appeared on older leaves, I'll open a question and see if anyone can help.
historic stuff:
-Cal mag deficiency, treated it with calmag foliar and extra in the water, it's gone now
-Overwatered it 2-ish weeks ago; waited 10 days for the ground to dry before giving more
- My humidity level is too high for my liking (50-75% depending on watering time)
19/4: This has been a wonderful week for Marie, since I put the lights a bit higher it has started to stretch a bit in length, I also did the last round of LST to make it a bit bushy on a spotty side. Best part of the week? FLOWERS BABY!!! FINALLY!! I am so excited that we're finally at the flowering stage, it took 6 weeks!!!
Since we're in flowering I'm about to switch to other nutes this week. Speaking of which: I'm watering every 2-3 days with 1 lt, it's drinking more and more water.
See ya next week!
25/4 happy Sunday everyone! It has been another great week for Marie, I switched the nutrients to the flowering Biobizz products, same PH @6.3/6.5; it's drinking a bit more water now so I'm giving it 1L every 2-3 days. Now, I was thinking if maybe I was giving it too much nutes and lo-and-behold: nute burn! or at least a very very early form on some leaves, so now I'm going to switch to a water/feed/water/feed schedule, just to be safe(and not sorry later :) ).
So since It's in the second week of flowering I stopped with the LST, and today I lollipopped for the first time! It was scary as hell but I think I did a decent job, hopefully, Marie won't be too stressed, although to be honest there were too many leaves :(.
First time ever and I don't know if I've done well: too many leaves? too little?
I also took some big fan leaves that were covering some sweet bud spots.
3/5: forgot to write the diary yesterday, sorry! anyway another great week for Marie, after the lollipopping I had some concerns but in 2/3 days it started growing faster than before! Actually, remember when I was worried that it was not growing in height? now it's growing too much and IDK for how long it will fit in my box, it won't if it keeps going :(( I've seen it gain 5cm in 3days!!! it is now at 45cm which means a +12/13 cm in a week and I don't know how to feel about it :-)
Anyway, as you can see from the nutes chart I switched to a flowering mix (maybe this is why it's growing so much?) one liter when the soil is dry (every 2-3 days) PHd @ 6.3/6.5, I heard that giving it a range of PH is better than to keep it still at 6.3.
Starting from this week I'll increase the nutes by almost 1ml/LT each, I'm still giving it lots of Cal mag and no troubles so far.
As you can see from the photos I've LST'd some lower branches so that they wouldn't be covered by the big fan leaves, maybe I should have just taken them away when lollipopping? Maybe I'll defoliate again during this week since it's now covering the whole 40x40cm area some outer leaves are getting damaged by the walls anyways.
09/05 Good Sunday everyone, this was quite a week for Marie, first off she keeps growing like a beast and all the bud sites are clearly visible now. At a point I noticed how since the leaves sprung back the environment in the box was just too hot and humid, so I gave it a really nice round of defoliation, also removed the LST and now the box is always at the correct levels.
Boosted the nutes intake, no need to put in PH- anymore since all the nutes are lowering the PH organically, Maybe when I put more I may need a PH+??
5/17 Hello everyone! Not many pics this time around, it's been a busy week! Marie has grown so much in the past week that it touched the lamp, no burns only because it's a low power light and I have a feeling that the reflective box does much of the work when it comes to lighting.
Anyway, today I spent some time attaching the lamp to the top of the box as you can see from the video, I think it works great!
Watered as usual, 1lt PHd @6.3 +-0.2 when the soil dries (2-3 days) and added some extra Bio-Grow; I also took the occasion to defoliate again, I want more light to reach lower nugs and I've also noticed how when I defoliate the air in the box is much fresher and clean.
Week 10 will mark the full switch to flowering nutes, I'll have 3 weeks to nuke the s**t out of this plant with nutrients before flushing, fingers crossed!
Let's make some calculations over the growth in height:
Week 8: +13cm
Week 9: +15cm
Assuming +15cm as the max growth rate (I sure hope so), and considering that this plant will take a maximum of 14 weeks from germination (14th being the harvesting week), we're looking at:
Week 10: 83cm
Week 11: 98cm
Week 12: 113cm
Week 13: 128cm
Week 14: 143cm
Which is a whole 25 cm more than my box! XD, hopefully, once we reach week 11 (so next week) it will slow down, after all, 120cm is the maximum height for these genetics (but I hope it's a bit lower like 100 cm would be perfect)
25/5 hello! Just found the time to update my journal :)
Another good week for Marie, noticed some bite marks but I've thoroughly searched the plant and there are no signs of insects, probably was a rogue one that ended up dying without reproducing.
Thankfully my concerns over the height are gone: +5cm in a week, way less than expected, but what worries me now is flower development which seems to be quite slow, we're now at week 11 basically and I still wouldn't call them proper buds :(
Starting from this week I'm giving it an extra 500ml with every watering, so 1.5L every 2/3 days, (same nutes) I'm also going to buy a de-humidifier, it basically 80/90% right after I water XD
see you next week!
This week was a doozey, I was so worried because the plant growth slowed down a lot and the flowers were in a stasis, basically stunned.
Humidity was too high at 80%, so the plant was not drinking its water appropriately, put the fan at the bottom between the outside and the inside and the fresh air did its magic! Now humidity is at a constant range of 43/50% which is PERFECT for this stage of flowering.
It took only a few days for the plant to jump back into health and starting growing again :))
The growth level at this stage is still unsatisfactory, week 12 and basically no nugs :((
The fan position change did help but it wasn't enough, so I had to resort to drastic decisions: NEW LIGHT BABY!
You can see from the pics how I changed the setup, I'm still using the old-low powered light to illuminate the bottom flowers :)
13/6: the light change worked incredibly well!! Switching from 75W(drawn 35W) to 1000W(drawn 120W) helped the flowers develop incredibly well in the past 7 days, now I can call them proper BUDS!!!
Now, technically next week (Wednesday) is supposed to be harvest day from my original plan, but I worry that the 2-ish weeks that the plant stayed stunned may increase this period, I'll keep a close eye on the colour of the thrychomes, if they don't start turning amber this week I might push it another two.
Now that humidity is correct and the flowers are growing, the plant started drinking WAY more, and now the usual 1L every two/three days just isn't enough, so I switched to 2L of PHd water at a 6.3/6.5 range every 48 hours, and I have a feeling that in the next week I may have to start water it every day as it keeps increasing its flowers.
VERY excited for the next 14 days, can't believe its been almost a 4 months journey, I really want to see those buds fatten up :)
23/06 all is well, the buds are growing A LOT!! Technically the plant should have been ready for harvest last week but the trichomes don't seem to be ready, most of them being crystal clear the hairs themselves are getting reddish/brownish while some of the top leaves are getting faded, all the signs are here!!! <3<3
Watering is still the same, 2 LT every couple of days @6.3/6.5 PH full of nutes, I'm wondering if I should start flushing...
See you next week, hopefully with harvest!
29/06: What a journey!
I'm glad to say that this will be Marie's last week on this Earth, the signs are all there and now I'm only waiting for the trichomes to be on point, probably a couple of days at most. 112 DAYS! for an Autoflower!!! can you believe it? I'm quite sure that if I had bought the new lights a couple of weeks earlier it would have already be done by now...
I've started flushing on Saturday, all in all it's gonna be a week of flush before harvest (more or less), and I've also changed the light schedule to 12/12 (previously 18/6), I just want to give her more night and see if the trichomes develop more and faster.
I'm guessing this is it peeps.
Good morning, and in case I don't see ya, good afternoon, good evening, and good night!
Hello again!
Still unsure whether or not I should harvest my Magnum, please find a few photos attached from the calixes and hairs, don't know if the trichomes are ready enough. Also plant was supposed to be ready on week 12, we're at week 16...
Any help is appreciated!
