@AsNoriu, already opted out when I finished above comment so no merch incentive for me and if I'm on some grow for everyone with my incomparable experience hype then I would of give a definitive answer as you did but I didn't I said what I would do even worded it as such and barring the odd cultivar which didn't respond well to defoliation 98% bounce back with substantial new growth within 2 days and yet I still give them a week to recover. My current diary has girls that have had over 50 cuts and most leaves removed in 2 stages and no issues as a result so as I said, I meaning me I would not worry about 1 leaf 🤭 Answer is based on experience and if you look at my current diary these girls have been butchered

@Fire_Farmer, it doesn't matter how much and how many times you escaped wrongdoing. Fact. I would rather type it in his question, but .. In our reality the only perspective of take down that leaf would be if he toped his plant at that nod and he don't want him to recover first, other branches to caught up target aka. All other cases - that leaf for 3-7 days is untouchable !!! He and his paralel partner is the biggest workers at the moment, any shock for top , will stop plants grows, so what for if you can avoid it ??? Tucking, lst , twisting main stemp, so many other options, especially what for to promote technique which is for mass grow to youngsters ?????? tell them straight - grow your first shit and then learn when you have basics at least..... And yes, i am old grumpy man ;)))

@AsNoriu, your right you should have typed it up in his question because as we back and forth he would be learning more and getting both sides of the coin, especially since you just answered why taking that top leaf away is a good choice if not the definitive correct answer for which there isn't one without more context as to what he is trying to achieve. As you said the top branches will slow growth allowing the lowers to catch up creating a nice more even canopy. That being said and being my preference I fully understand what your saying and I agree with you too, I guess it again depends on desired results and therefore I am happy to concede to you while maintaining that I'm not wrong 😂 Also you are right about letting them crawl before they run but thats on them, if they think they can sprint who are we to pull forward a wheelchair. @AsNoriu,taking off the top set of fan leaves WILL NOT completely stop a plants growth. Taking that set of fan leaves off does NOT stop development of new branches. Though I dont agree it's a smart idea to remove them... your information and statements are not correct! Just so u know.

@Fire_Farmer,There is alot of nonsense answers on here. That being said it's on the asker to than take the provided information and research its merits. You cannot expect to be spoon fed the correct answer by every person that responds. You then need to sift through the shit... and make a decision that only effects u and your plants. I was hyperactive when stated to grow, but in my country its still illegal, so i stopped, when people to whom i chated, called, write where busted only because of posting on youtube, but ... If any uk grower can supply my habit, i will be growing and busting myth or false believes. We can plant 20 girls, veg them to same size and shape, rip same leaf from 10 of them and observe ... I can make now official bet against that action. Can you ? There was more resent story ... People for a year was put into unknown experiment to them where they been informed and "studied" that, lets say carrots are the healthiest thing for them. After a year real studies and facts was shown to them, that its not. Now guess, how many accepted science fact ? 90% defended wrong believes only because they couldn't accept that they where fooled for a year. You choose what you do. And i came here because of answers like yours and then i found even your statement, so my 2 pence are here aswell ;))

@AsNoriu, I have to second what @ttrichome said. You are wrong. His "grounds" to be able to share info is his growing experience. It only takes a minute to look at a growers diaries and you can see who knows their shit. For instance, I saw that you were asking questions about defoliation like 3 months ago. How many grows have you ran in the last 3 months to get so much experience in defoliation?? I'm not trying to get in an in depth exchange on the subject but just imagine the confusion that the guy asking the question is experiencing now... That is the issue I have. People reach out for help and get a bunch of nonsense. I pluck top leaves from my plants all the time and it doesn't even slow them down, much less stop the growth. That is the grounds for my opinion on the subject. It is a great thing for all of us to share our opinions on these subjects, but we should also be careful not to pass on our personal preference as facts.

@AsNoriu, my official bet is in my tent now and in my current diary, as I said I butchered them as I do all my plants from seed incase they are keepers, I took 50+ cuts between them, lollipop on the bottom half and took every leaf blocking a lower branch and they have a pretty even canopy of growth without any adverse affects from the abuse I put them through. The rest of that comment is illegible to me I failed to translate it and nearly nodded back to sleep 😴 But while I have your attention can you acknowledge to your mate @icarus that you came to my post and attacked me accusing me of being wrong about a matter which is clearly being debated even though I stated what I would do and you stated what they have to do no matter what? I wouldn't exchange my smallest thinnest plant in bagseed run to ALL your tent, but its my valuation and i can't base it on real facts, just presumption why i would act that way. 2. You wanted to escalate and dig deeper forgetting first question, can i take down THAT ONLY leaf. No need to remind me my own words, read them one more time. 3. I post here my diaries not for likes or proof, but for me to remember and for others to learn, i always clarify and base my mistakes 4. I will do diary at end of october so visual result will be before Christmas's. Tell me strain. 2 plants vs 2 other plants, 2 will have it, two won't. Easy math. @Fire_Farmer, бро, я каждого из вас считаю другом, я ни с кем тут лично не знаком и вы все моя "небольшая семья" 😉👌 Я никого не защищаю и не выступаю против кого-то, я тут только для того, чтоб поделиться своим опытом и заявить о своём существовании, я бы хотел найти команду и присоединиться к ней или создать свою команду из опытных гроверов! Любой опыт в выращивании - это прекрасно! Не важно, он был успешным или нет, важно чтоб каждый раз гровер работал над своими ошибками, понимал то, что он делает. Я часто рекомендую начинающим меньше тревожить растение тренировками или обрыванием листвы, чтоб гровер получил свой первый опыт так легко, как это может сделать природа. Природа всегда даёт в 10 раз больше, чем ты в неё вкладываешь! Главная идея - чтоб человек понимал то, что он делает. Вырастив одно растение без тренировок и в дальнейших посадках применять тренировки на растениях - это уже опыт. Когда человеку есть с чем сравнить! Учиться можно только на своём опыте.....есть доказанные теории в математике, физике, химии.... но тут, в выращивании, часто играет фактор проб и ошибок, которые допускают производители, получая свой опыт. Я считаю, что дефолиация не зря была применена во многих книгах о выращивании нашего растения, это неоспоримый метод увеличения урожайности в подходящих случаях. Кто-то получает свой опыт в разных техниках, кто-то пытается экономить, кто-то старается выжать максимум из растения.... тут каждый получает свой опыт. Мне действительно важно дружить со всеми, я никого не разделяю и не вешаю ярлыков! С приобретением большего опыта, люди часто меняют свои точки зрения, даже на противоположные ранее утвержденным. Все люди имеют право на изменение своей точки зрения в любой момент, если человек считает себя "мыслящим" и если он готов вести дискуссии и свободно анализировать. Нет ничего странного, когда люди меняют свои точки зрения может не сразу, а со временем, с принятием своего личного опыта. Личный опыт - это то, зачем каждый пришел в этот мир! @Bloombuster I can't argue with any of that, I am a big believer in it never being too late to change, 1 month to make a habit and 3 months to make a lifestyle and all that. I also agree that understanding concepts is more important than just doing something correctly, in fact I learn best when provided with the concepts as oppose to the method only. @AsNoriu,To actually touch on the matter at hand. Defoliating without purpose can be damaging to a plant in many ways . The reason behind leaf removal must out weigh the negative impacts. WE MUST FIRST ASK OURSELVES ... is it worth it. It's as simple as that. Saying removing 1 set of fan leaves will stunt entire plant... and stop new branches from developing. Is down right dumb and untrue. I dont agree with removing leaves in most cases... but your reasoning tells me how much u actually understand. Nadda.

@Fire_Farmer, The problem is always the same. Someone ask a question, that someone isn't searching any infos about the issue he is facing and choose an answer like it was the best one ever. If peoples were up to search learn and understand they won't be losing 3 month of effort by following a weird advice. It's a 2 way problem : - Some answers are shit and even dangerous for a crop -Some grower are too lazy to double check. It's not about the answers quality , it is Bout the amount of answered questions. By the way you won't change anything as every month someone have a conscious talk like yours so it's like chasing waterfall 😷

@@NobodysBuds Hey bro, if I were interested in contests I would join some but I have been growing indoors for almost 40 yrs. The only interest I have in this site was to keep track of a new strain I have not grown. But I figured out it's much easier keeping track of your grow on here and wanted to let others know they can grow the same big bud, if they do it right. So people start messaging me asking questions, and I spent way more time answering private messaging than I answered in the question section. My gratitude is the amount of PM's I have sitting in there thanking me, and telling me it's there best grow since I helped them out. That's my prize friend. If I wanted GOTM I am retired so I could answer questions all day and night if I wanted. But I have a great life living on the water and this site only gets a little part of me. Only losers spend hours answering question just to win some seeds. Theres nothing their offering that I would waste my time and space growing anyways. Cheers friend
