Is it preferable to use filtered tap water over tap water that's been left out for 24 hours? Would it be worth running my tap water through a filtered jug? I live in a soft water area

Technically the purer the water the better but there is a point where the return on investment begins to die off. If you can drink it fine so can the plant, that is the crux if it. But just like you, the cleaner the better. Now you will end up adding Silicon anyway so use tap, RO, rain water, long as you wouldnt mind drinking it its fine.

Best if you have osmosis water and mix the stale water for 24 hours (after 24 hours the chlorine has evaporated somewhat) to an Ec value of 0.2. Then add Cal / Mag until the Ec is 0.4. This is your source of water ;-)

Don't worry about it. Plants will thrive with or without filtered water. You can try magnetically treating your water. That is a completely different ball game ;) check my diaries and wait till the harvest comes
