This is probably one of the subjects that is most simple and most tricky at the same time because it will impact a lot how your plants will thrive first of all when your plans are not too big meaning there are developing a lots of root system trying to water the soil that is not close to the main stem branch in trying to water sufficient in those Outer Edge areas to encourage the roots to stretch out if you continue to put water close to the main stem they will relax and not want to stretch too much because there is no need for it. when the plant soil is dry to the touch then because you're using smart pots you can also touch the exterior part of the pot in touch it is wet of dry it is feels dry you can move the pot to check the weight it should be very light and then you know it is time to water it is important to give them a little bit of dry soil so again to encourage the root system to stretch. ones they stretch and cover all the pot area then you just need to make sure you are getting the entire soil what wet enough to have run out. And they should be just fine I hope this tip help you out good luck with your brother

I just water my plants when I put my finger on the soil and fell completely dry. It’s important the process wet and dry to the roots.
