Look into a couple of things, once it has at least 5 or 6 nodes, then TOP it to promote more lateral branching. Also be sure to have at least 35 to 40 watts per sq ft of grow space during flowering.

I like doing a large pruning before the preflower stretch. My goal is to open all of the budsites to light and to clean up the lower half of the plant. By doing this, I was able to achieve a relatively even canopy. After that initial prune, I just clean up here and there but never take much so there's no stunting. Opening her up before the stretch was huge though, give that a shot next time.

I'd also look at your lamp to plant distance. The stretchiness could just be genetics or it could be that the light is too far away and they're stretching to try and reach it.

Topping. Mainline, manifold, or quadlining have worked great for me. All of my plants stay really short now, but they pack on more weight than when I just used to let them go. Good luck with your grow!

If you want shorter bushier plants, you want to do things like LST or topping, so the plant stops growing vertical and starts growing horizontal. Hopefully, I answered your question and remember "Happy Growing" and "Free your mind one puff at a time"
