Will excessively aerating and circulation change the PH?

I have a reservoir which holds my nutrients until they need to be used. Recently I had added in a pump for circulation in addition to my air stone. Since then my solution has been rising to over 7 within a few hours. I adjust back down and it goes back up again? What the heck?

It can be caused by the composition of the airstone, especially the cheap blue ones. They are made from a mixture that is highly alkaline, and this can lead to making your pH go weird. Heat, air pumps "running hotter" and/or having the reservoir inside or outside of your tent, can in no way possible alter the chemical composition of your nutrient solution. Try making a circle of irrigation tube and piercing it in many places and attach your air hose to it, to make your own aerator and this will hopefully solve your pH problem. If you have no alternative to your airstone, try soaking it for a few days, changing the water very often, 5-6 times a day, to try and leach some of the "alkalinity" out of it before using it again. Otherwise, if you have a few connectors that fit the air hose, make up a multi tubed outlet that you can fit at the end of the main air line and weigh it down so it sits on the bottom of your reservoir and this will keep your solution well mixed. Hope this helps,.... Organoman.

HarbingerOfHarvests Both of my reservoirs are outside of the tent. I have a controller and a larger reservoir on top of it that feeds the controller as the plants use the water. My tds is around 750, or 1.5ec. The reason i put the pump in was to keep the nutes mixed well as they waited to be used. The only thing different is the pump. Theres no reason i can thinknof other than that. The ph literally goes from 5.5 to over 7 in 4 hours?

Is your Air Pump inside your tent? If it is consider putting it on the outside of the tent.. If it's inside your tent it will be running hotter and working harder. And yes it it required to adjust your reservoir as able.. What's your TDS like? do you have enough nutrients in the reservoir to buffer your ph? Are you using anything like UC Roots or HydroGuard? How much are you lowering it down? Are you lowering to 5 and it's raising to 7 quickly? Are you stirring the reservoir before checking your ph?

Hi ! Succes!🌱
