Hi there....in theory, it depends on two factors: genetics if it's an autoflowering, or light—too much light or light too close can lead to similar results....if the light reaches the plant properly, the plant then says, "Okay, I'm growing too high, I'll stay where I am..." so raise the lights a bit, especially in the first 2 weeks, this way it stretches a little.
