Why are my 1 gallon container plants bigger than the 5 gallon container plants? 12" in the 5 gallons and 17" in the 1 gallons? What am I doing wr

Why are they growing slowly? I have 6 plants total. 4 in this tent and 2 in another smaller tent. The ones in the smaller tent are in 1 gallon fabric containers and get the same bottom feed wick system as the 5 gallon ones in this tent. Why are the 1 gallon bigger? Thanks!

The feeding system your running is probably more efficient on the smaller containers. Add to it the roots have to push to find water then it would be easier in the smaller container. Thus meaning the smaller ones found water first and had a easier time. If I had to guess the bigger ones will catch up, and surpass the smaller ones. Although this is my assumption, I'm not accounting for the phenos. Every strain has multiple phenos. You may plant 10 seeds and have 10 different looking plants. Better breeders get this dialed in, and the phenos are less sporadic. 10 seeds might give you 2 or 3 phenos instead of 10.. Now. With this said I would guess it's the smaller containers allowed the plants to have a steady supply of nutes quicker, if it's not a odd pehno... if so the bigger potted ones should catch up and surpass the little ones. Goodluck. Please consider selecting me as the answer so I can be entered for a chance to win grower of the month contest I would really appreciate your support growmie 😃 🙏

3 gallon fabric pots are the best imo. I've used 1,3,5,7. 3 is the best of both worlds in size, quickness, and less watering

Quick update: I lifted all 4 pots and realized they were all lighter than I initially thought. So I added the rest of each gallon til runoff. Was that the smartest move?

I gave a liter of nutes top feed. That should be enough. I might do another liter each tomorrow? Just in case. Do I want runoff? I'm only correcting any dry parts up top. Maybe a top feed every other week? The environments are very close with the lights at the same DLI. It's 40 mol/m²/d. Temp and humidity are roughly 75° to 77° and 62% to 66% (I'll be dropping that down next week) I've never grown a photoperiod before. Someday. I already have a bunch of different strains. So I'm testing watering for now I guess? What else should I be testing? Nutrients are all the same mix. Also, these 4 are the same size 2 of each strain. It's the ones in the small tent that are both bigger. They are one of each strain. Same seed packs. It's definitely something different in the small tent. Could be the watering I guess? I just can't think of anything else. It could be the pot size as well? However, they already have root growing out of the bottom. The Gorilla Cookies have a fully developed root system covering the bottom of their containers. The Strawberry Gorillas don't have as many roots showing yet, but still they are all roughly the same height. Hope that helps. Thanks!

You are growing 2 different varieties. Plants express genetics differently. Some might be more Indica dominant, some more Sativa dominant. If they were all identical clones off a mother plant, and some grew faster than the other's and the difference was pot size, then it would carry more weight as the answer. There might be a difference in VPD between tents too, which will also greatly impact growth if one tent is dialed in and one isn't. And stop growing Auto's indoors they are fuckin GAY! lol

might be more efficient at feeding with smaller volume of substrate? higher "water mark" in it? is the moisture climbing to the top in the larger pots or not? if a portion of volume is dry, then don't include that in the comparison, because roots won't grow there. genetics will play a role.. even if from same batch of seeds, meosis has an impact. With a wick system, may want to size the pot more like you would for frequent fertigation setup.. small volume needed since it's always wet. it may be more optimal with the 1gal pots relative to the cause and effect of how the wick system works <-- just speculating...

I think because the ones in the larger pots are concentrating of developing a larger root system, which in turn should give you a better yield.
