actually the spray is enough and you dont really need to water more than 30-40 ml daily. you dont need to see any runoff / drainage at all. Hope this helps ! 🚀

I just fucked up a seedling by over watering. Best way I find is a syringe with no needle in it. I get them free from any vet. You can suck up 5ml and drip around the base of stem. if she needs more you can suck up more and drip around the base of her. This way you know the exact amount you are giving her without over watering.

So at first i mist too, but it needs paired with watering. At the point your at though you should water light and don't saturate the whole cup. If you saturate the whole deal your little girls won't like it much. Try to ph out some water and water around the center of the pot. No need for runoff yet either. You'll know when to get runoff when the plant starts drinking more. Good luck

Misting is totally inadequate, it will prevent your plant from dying, but it will not encourage a strong root system to grow. By misting the surface you are causing the roots to stay shallow and near the surface. You need to deep water, so that your plants roots can expand into the entire pot, from side to side and top to bottom and this will not occur if the soil is dry. Plants need/prefer a good drink once in a while and not lots of little waterings frequently, which as I said before, will just cause a shallow root system, which will then be a very poor "anchor" for your plant. Think how in nature when it rains, the whole area is dampened, and so it should be in the plants' pot, moist from side to side and top to bottom. For an idea of a young 3 week old seedling and what its root system looks like, go to my diary "cannabis conundrums" and in week 7 there are pictures of the exposed root system. This may give you an idea as to why deep watering, to run off, is vital for root growth. As you will see, the roots are 4-5 times as long as the plant is tall and there is no way misting would ever provide enough water to get to the depth of those roots. Right now, the tap root on your seedlings is at east 2-3 inches long, meaning it would be hitting dry soil, preventing further expansion and growth, due to misting being totally inadequate for water penetration to that depth. One decent deep watering every 3-5 days should be the routine to strive for, watering only again once the top inch to inch and a half of the substrate is dry again. You should aim for an even moisture, but without becoming saturated. This is hard to describe over the internet, but probably between a cup and one and a half a cups would be in the ball park for containers the size of yours. Watering to run off does 2 things - 1, lets you know the substrate is wetted through from top to bottom and 2, can prevent nutrient salts from building up in the substrate, which can cause burning of your plant later on down the track. I often wonder why there are so many questions in this forum about burnt foliage and am coming to the conclusion that for whatever reason, there are a lot of people petrified of over watering, so that they then do not water deeply and to run off, which then causes salt build up in their pots. The build up is a cumulative process, meaning little by little until the plant can not take it anymore, causing the burning of the plant, but by this time, the remedy is not available because it has gone too far, past the point of no return. Flushing furiously will have no effect, it may even worsen things by mobilizing even more previously "locked up" salt, but once the toxicity level has reached the stage of being able to burn the plant, it is well advanced and returning to proper health is almost impossible. Hope this helps,.......... Organoman.
