My 8 gallon Nutrient reservoirs ph is increasing from 6 to 8 overnight.
I have drain to waste system so nothing goes back in
Within the reservoir is an air stone
I'm using canna a and b . Calmag and rhizotonic.
Any ideas would on how to keep ph stable?
Remove the air stone would be my advice. I never ran a air stone in mine and never had swings like that.
See if that stops the swing, if not there is something real strange going on.
As a example I left a a 6 gallon bucket of nutes with exactly what you use and the ph rose by .1 to .2 max
Thanks for the advice all,
I turned the air stone off and its not rising as fast, im using tap water so ill try the de-ionised / RO water.
Its my first grow using coco so new to this and learning on job.
Hi mate, if you're using tap water and ph down/up; The ions in the water react to the ions in the acid to bring the PH up. I was having the same problem with my reservoir and did some research. Best advice i can give is to use deionised water.
The air makes the water evaporate certain elements so ph rises faster than the water without bubbles..After about 24 hours it usually stabilizes then you can ph down to what you need and it should stay stable. Or a bluelab trip meter with auto ph adjusting. Expensive though. RO water stays pretty stable with air. Cheers
I grow in soil. This is just a guess on my end. Maybe there are organisms living in your res. Could dump the res and do a cleaning. Add new water and nutrients with the correct ph and ppm.
