You use the runoff to control the EC and the pH of the soil. By doing so, you will always know if you need to feed the next time. When pH start to drop, it’s mostly a sign that NaCl start to build up.
Without diving too deep into mineralogy and crystallization to keep it easy to understand, in short sketch, Nitrogen N turns into Sodium Chloride NaCl (sea salt) after a while when it’s not being used.

Yellow leaves on nearing end auto.So we are nearing the end. Now there seems to be a lot of conflicting information out there on yellowing of leaves at this time. Troubled seedlingsIs this nutrient burn? Had what looked like a lack of nitrogen early on, lowest leaves were healthy then quickly went yellow and worked up. Now have fed nutes at 0.7EC (tap water left for 24hrs to 0.28EC) so fed under 0.5. Bio-grow 0.5ml/l bio-heaven 1ml calmag 0.25. Thanks

I direct sowed into a rich soil and have had very little growth in the last 3 weeks.
