You can and some strains go dream but mostly it's not recommended. Autos just don't get the recovery time they need heading into flower. On YouTube the channel FromSeedtoStoned covered the topic really well.

When do you start topping? Photoperiods need to LST? Can ya'll just go look at my diary and tell me if my ladies look like they should LOL.When to top or LST? Do these look stunted? I'm super curious about methods for best yield. I'm already worried my girls are leggy (but I've gotten some great advise already to let them rest but also give them bigger pots soon). Should I defoliate after topping with LST ?I just did my first topping and she took it very well, no signs of stress and actually growing really fast I think.
I was thinking about LST the top colas so the lower ones can reach that height, should I cut the top leaves shadowing the lower future colas?

Did I wait too long to top?I just topped, main-lined, and defoliated. The stem is about the thickness of a pencil, and the nodes are very tightly packed.
The reason I waited so long to top was because I wanted to clone the cuttings and give them to a friend.
My question is, did I wait too long to top?
