water draining too fast - slow growth

Although I spray water around the stem slowly, the water drainage was too fast, just spraying 20-30 ml of water and it drained right away in 2L (half a gal) pots - watered 100-150ml Do you think there could be a problem with the roots or soil structure? She is growing so slow

You need to water the whole pot, not just a piddling amount next to the stem, roots will not grow into dry substrate and this could be why the growth may seem slow. It is far better to deep water until run off every few days than it is to give tiny amounts often. The soil could also be over dry and has become "hydrophobic", whereby water just runs through the pot rather than be absorbed. Standing the pots in a container of water for a few minutes and letting the water get sucked up from the bottom can rehydrate the soil quite easily and quickly. Growth could also be affected by keeping them in small pots too long, they really need 15-20 litre pots (or bigger) for best and fastest growth. Hope this helps, Organoman.

Roots grow where there is moisture. So, you want to water BEYOND where the roots currently are to encourage them to grow outwards. Then continue watering EVERY bit of soil in your pot. Water slow and give enough water so that every corner of your pot gets moisture. It is OK to have 20% runoff from your watering and it is good to help flush salts from the soil. Keep in mind that bigger roots mean bigger harvest.

If it drains that quick, you need more water. When soil is really dry, water will find the fasted way out. I would completely saturate the media and let it dry 3-5 days.

Anything over 85° is detrimental to your plants. Plus the small container. Get your girls some AC and keep them in the 76 to 80 range and you should see a big difference. Cheers
