Last watering before the darknes

WEEDOOR
WEEDOORstarted grow question 3 years ago
I want to put my plant in the dark for two days. Should I do this immediately after the last watering? Or do I still need to water while the plant is in the dark before harvest? I am watering for a week with clean water.

Watch Mr Canucks Grow on YouTube, or Grass In Class, they both do it and show the results. And they do it on all harvests. I do it and everyone I know does it. 24 to 48 hours dark is best. Good luck and enjoy!

I have done both in dark and not. I prefer darkness hands down. I water the last day so they go in moist. By day 2 bone dry. Your ending its life and you want the plant to know it's over. Forcing it to put everything into it's buds. Basically defending itself and it does this by trichromes. So I don't add water in dark time. Good luck hope thus helps and made sense🌱🌱🌱👍

Plants create trichromes as a protection against light. It's been scientifically proven. Giving a dark period does create more trichromes. Many of the best indoor growers practice this method. They produce more trichromes during the dark period to prepare for the sun or light to come up the next day. That's why Autoflowers have less trichromes grown under 24 hours, but give them a 2 day dark period and it will frost right up. Your plants will continue to drink water in the dark. Plus 1 week flush in soil is a short flush depending on how heavy you fed them. The last watering allows for an extra 2 day flush.

Putting your plant in extended darkness will, in my opinion, not achieve anything other than potentially leading to trichome breakdown, not enhancement. Extended darkness will just slow your plants metabolism to virtually zero, and a zero active metabolism can not support healthy trichomes or slow their breakdown. If you are keen to put her in darkness, there is no need to water while in darkness, due to the almost zero metabolism occurring. There is no scientific proof that proves that this technique works for all cannabis plants and in every situation. It is largely an urban myth backed with pseudo science and not guaranteed to do anything beneficial. In fact, it probably causes more stress than do any good, and why anyone would willingly stress their plants, right before harvest and after weeks/months of careful growing, is beyond me. Some may swear by it, but me, I am completely against it, as you can no doubt tell. After conducting numerous experiments over the last 25+ years regarding the harvest time, including harvesting at virtually every hour of the day and/or night, I have concluded that for my tastes, harvesting about 1-2 hours after lights on/sun up and after a normal nights sleep, without any strange dark cycles, seems to produce the healthiest flowers with the highest amount of fresh terpenes. Hope this helps, Organoman.

If your doing the dark room for harvest, give her 1 really good last watering before starting your 2 day dark period. Don't water it anymore once she is in there.. Let it drink as much as it can in that period and then let it start to dry. Again water her really good 1 last time right before going in.
