Putting your plant in extended darkness will, in my opinion, not achieve anything other than potentially leading to trichome breakdown, not enhancement.
Extended darkness will just slow your plants metabolism to virtually zero, and a zero active metabolism can not support healthy trichomes or slow their breakdown.
If you are keen to put her in darkness, there is no need to water while in darkness, due to the almost zero metabolism occurring.
There is no scientific proof that proves that this technique works for all cannabis plants and in every situation.
It is largely an urban myth backed with pseudo science and not guaranteed to do anything beneficial.
In fact, it probably causes more stress than do any good, and why anyone would willingly stress their plants, right before harvest and after weeks/months of careful growing, is beyond me. Some may swear by it, but me, I am completely against it, as you can no doubt tell.
After conducting numerous experiments over the last 25+ years regarding the harvest time, including harvesting at virtually every hour of the day and/or night, I have concluded that for my tastes, harvesting about 1-2 hours after lights on/sun up and after a normal nights sleep, without any strange dark cycles, seems to produce the healthiest flowers with the highest amount of fresh terpenes.
Hope this helps, Organoman.
