STRAIN for AUTUMN GREENHOUSE GROW EXPERIMENT

I would like to experiment a greenhouse grow, so basically an outdoor grow but under a "transparent tent", with sun as only source of heat and light. I've never done this before. I was thinking to germinate in early/mid september. Suggestion for the strain? Auto ofc. Experiences?

Hi @Dingle_Dangle. I have just started one as well which I am using gorilla cookies auto. From the look of your climate charts I see that you are not going to have very 'extreme temperatures' in sept/oct. I am thinking I will go well into November with mine, as I have found the autos to go a little slower in the shoulder season. Adding thermal mass (containers of water) is really important to help retain the heat overnight. But having a contingency plan (heater) is also important in case of unseasonably cold weather. I think one of the main considerations will be picking a strain that is tolerant of a few cold nights and changing humidity. I grew a Zkittlez auto in my greenhouse this spring, and it worked quite well, and has a very low smell if that is of a concern. I have also done a shoulder season White Widow Auto as well which is pretty tolerant. Another consideration is flowering time. Selecting faster auto genetics is important, as you will lose some intensity from the sun as winter sets in, so the quicker you go get to harvest the better. It may be worthwhile sending this question to your favorite seedbanks/breeders and see what they suggest. Good luck on your grow, its cool to see people fighting back against seasonal norms!

Thanks all for the answers. @Organoman : It's just for science 😂 Not much interested in the yield, I just like experimenting 😁 @ChitownCannaChica : I have a RQS Northern light auto seed, I thought it was good for cold, but data sheet says "warm" :( @Pagus : I wrote you in DM, please answer, I have some questions about thermal mass and more

Just don't expect too much, planting at that time of year usually results in one foot plants in my experience, and with very low potency due to not enough sun light. Can be fun though.

Hi, you have to do autos! (I plan on doing the same thing! Mini green house grow). Autos generally are more cold tolerant and obviously don’t worry about light schedules as much as photos. Go with those autos you have been wanting to try! In doing the new fast Buds Afghan because of the cold tolerance! Keep us posted! ✌️🏻💚🌿💨
