It will be a preference. Some strains take longer then others. The average is around 2-4 weeks. I had a strain that was out of this world taste and more potant after a year cure (ILGM Gold leaf). I've also had strains that taste the same from harvest to 6 month cures to 1 year cure (ILGM white widow auto). Some people don't cure.

I like to cure buds for 1 month minimum, but 3 to 6 months ideally. Burping once a day for the first week or so then once a week for the next month and once a month after that. packing it to tight will not allow adequate air flow and if moisture content is to high, it will mold. that's your main problem and issue to look out for. jar it up, if it smells grassy/cat pissy a day or two in. take it out, the buds need more time to dry. the why ppl cure is a bit trickier, For me it allows the buds to mature into a better product, granted if your using this for edibles or isolated extracts eg thc/cbd only, it does not matter. I think a lot of it has to do with microorganisms and things inside the plant that are finishing up there last tasks before they die. its like a fermentation process to me but really mild.

This is almost a personal question IMO.. some strains cure quick and some peak 6 months after.. it’s mainly a taste/flavor/smoothness thing. I do recommend a month at least just to be safe but that doesn’t mean you can’t smoke right after drying.. it’s just gonna improve a bit with cure, nothing mind blowing. But noticeable

After the buds are dry it takes a minimum of 2-3 weeks to cure. It can take longer depending in the buds structure. I like my cure to be 3 months. After drying, there is still quite a bit of residual moisture, as well as sugars and minerals that need to be broken down. A well-cured bud should bounce back like memory foam. When you smoke a joint the ash is light grey/white and fluffy. You will also have a smooth gentle smoke.
