need a 30-60x magnification to assess color of trichomes (as cheap as -6 and fancier options available). Toss out any ideas that may bias your opinion. Use trichomes, coloration of pistils and retraction of pistils to guage the entire plant. Scope multiple locations. google varying opinions on when the harvest window is... 10-20% to 70+% etc... BUT, do try various points to learn your own preference. In general more amber means a more tired/bogged down high. Some like that... some may not feel those words accurate describe it, but that's how i feel. brain chemistry is a bit different in all of us, although very similar of course. So, try early, mid and late harvests to learn your preference... in a few grows it'll all be second nature. You can also stagger your harvest... while it is high stress to cut something off, there will be no time for consequences to grow (nanners / male bits). The plant will mature top-down. If the difference is too great, take those top colas off, and let the rest sit under your lights a few more days until they are ripe -- adjust light to new canopy, continue your flush or feeding etc as you normally do at end... cloudy is actually onset of degradation. amber is degradated THCa (actually it is no longer THCa, but simpler to say it this way). present participle vs. past tense. Some ratio of the two will be "best" for you. Clear does not mean absent of THCs, that's a commonly repeated falsehood. It is probably highest right before it turns cloudy. Nonetheless, probably want some portion to be amber... as we care about the average of the plant, not the Minimum/Maximum data points.
