Using ICE - Increase Trichomes?

Using Ice prior to the harvest seems like grey area from what I have been reading, but I’ve seen many grow images using this method. I just wanted to reach out to the community to ask their experiences with this method including those that have had a negative experience.

I think you'd need to be a commercial growing growing hundreds of the same variety icing half and using room temp water for the other in order to see any reliable, measurable results. I did an experiment long ago measuring the soil/water temperature in the pot. Ice cooled the top layer of soil but deeper down it didn't make much difference. I had better "shocking" by mixing up a bucket of ice water. Then used the chilled water to thoroughly soak the plant with a lot of runoff. This did much better at cooling the soil & roots. Honestly though I never saw a difference in the plant.

The difference i can see in harvesting in the summer or winter is that in the winter the buds are more frosty because of the low night temperature and the low nutrient res temp. (rdwc) In the summer the nute res temp is about 25/30 degrees celcius and in winter it's 16 degrees celcius. The night air temperature is the same as the nute res temp. But in my opinion this only helps if you give the cold shock for at least a couple of weeks, a couple of days would only force her to ripen faster that's it. I never had any negative experiences this way. Good luck!

Hello instead to use ice your can use very very cold water which create the same thermal shock. It is as you want. Bye

What happens when using ice cubes or ice water on the medium shocks the roots. It does two things. It can help a plant finish faster if your seeding the plant or not. It will also bring out autumn colors on the plant. As far as increasing trichomes and terpenes that is subject to debate. I use this method when my seeded plants need to hurry up. Hope this helps
