I read something back in the day about darkness is when new trichomes/terpenes are formed and mature. The main benefit of it was that it helps mature any straggler trichomes and build terpenes??? its all a haze now, was years ago. But it was very pseudoscience at the time. I also think it was only for photoperiod plants and not so much autoflowers. I cant find any hard evidence on why it would be a good idea, but I only did a simple google search and found the link below. give it a read. Try it out and see what you feel, if your growing multiple plants take one out right away and let one sit in darkness. See what works best and your own observations. https://weedkb.com/dark-before-harvest/#Lab_Results this link enplanes maybe where it all started, study taken out of context that is no longer available.

I don’t disagree with the others here. I do it. My twins are going dark tonight. It’s bro science as fuck. Though I do notice my tricomes come out much much frosty after a dark period. Now does it make it better? That’s highly debatable and I have no scientific data to support it or deny it. However I disagree with breveheart when he says the plant will herm. Your buds are already all developed. The plant isn’t making seeds or change much in the next 48 hours in that respect. Do what makes your happy. At the end of the day we’re all grown men making flowers and taking different routes to get the same results. Cheers 🤙

I do NOT recommend darkness before harvest. Some have said that it can increase potency but much of what I have read lately says it does nothing and may actually cause a decline in quality.

I have always thought this idea to be illogical. It does not make sense to make a plant think its environment is dying, so it dies just to improve mothing but maybe start it hermie due to going into survival mode (producing seeds) for turning the light off. A plant needs light to convert CO2 into energy for the plant, take away the light, take away the energy. Just another on of those grower myths that people stand by...good luck

Hello, Well recommended is a big word, some studies ensure that 48h of darkness before cutting the plant gives an higher thc level, if it works, not sure, some says it does some it doesn't, i tried it some times but ofcourse im a regular grower so i cant say if it worked as i never took my buds to analyze in a lab, some people also give them ice cold water while flushing, but same story, not sure if it works
