I happen to LOVE my Apera - it's a bit cheaper than Blue Lab - but just as accurate, just as easy, and, from others who have switch to Apera from Blue Lab, apparently longer lasting. I picked mine up from Amazon for about and it's the BEST I'VE EVER SPENT ON MY GROWS!!! Wish I had bought one when I first started growing... As for your yellowing new growth, your instincts are spot-on... this is some micronutrient deficiency - zinc? Iron? who knows... but the key and the answer is going to be found in the PH level ... so once you get your PH pen, make sure whatever you give her (water, nutes) has a PH of 6.2 - 6.5 and you should see improvement.... Good luck!

I use a piece of toilet paper, wick up some runoff and then adjust my next watering if its out. Best thing to do is mix in powder wollastanite, dolomite lime, or something in your substrate that will buffer your root zone. Any fluctuations out of zone are likely caused by acidic, non beneficial, microbial life and it just needs a substance that is constantly neutralizing. At least thats what i have found.

Just buy a decent one first off, buy a cheap one and you will eventually end up buying the decent one anyhow...... Buy once, cry once! Save up until you can afford the real deal, Blue Lab seems popular.

Really this can be solved HM brand or hanna are great and accurate for this job. those from China are not waterproof and need to be calibrated frequently, which would require a lot of work.
