Confirm overwatering issue?

uktuk

I believe I have overwatered my plants. Dropping leaves, algae growing on coco, some bronze spots. Can someone confirm this is what's happening? I have stopped watering to let them dry out. What else should I do?

High uktuk, Sorry I didn't read you grow on coco. Just let it dry out between waterings. Some say that you can not overwater in coco but that is BullShit. When I grow in coco I start with only 100ml around the plant till she has about 3 nodes. Then she has a more serious root system already and start to become more thirsty. From there just give water till you have 20% from what you gave as runoff everytime. During vegging you probably only need to water once in the 3 days. And during pre flower and flowering once in the 2 days. Just look at your plant, look at the coco and lift up the pot when they are still small to feel how a dry pot and how a fresh watered pot feels. This weight is a great indicator and can teach you how often you need to water. But always water with 20% runoff!!! Happy Growing! 😋

I think you are right in assuming it is overwaterd. The leaves giving a downward curl is sign of that. The algae is just the coir being to wet for to long and feeding off of the medium. Nothing to worry about right now, can pick it out and try not to keep it so wet. The bronzing might be from a PH issue OR from all the over watering in the root zone causing some issues. I would aim to keep the PH aorund 5.8 going in and not overwatering it, see if that helps the problem. I would also look into getting a TDS pen to monitor the EC/PPM of the feeding solution you are giving them. its not 100% needed but a great tool for helping to diagnose potential issues in your grow if any develop. Good Luck! === Seems I have a fake troll account trying to cause shit by emulating me. They even went as far as to copy my profile picture and response to there troll lol. With coco, you water to run off so it draws air into the coco and flushes old nutrients away. Don't let it sit in runoff or suffocate in water. I really don't know why people just answer when they KNOW ( grannie caps) it's not going to screw someone's grow up for them.

Yes, this is absolutely a case of overwatering... the leaves are drooping AND quite swollen with all the water in them. It's good that you've stopped watering... let them dry out completely before giving them anything more - and each time you water or feed, always make sure the pot is super dry and needs something. In order to make sure you're watering thoroughly, though, you will want to see some running out the bottom of your pot. I always put a saucer underneath and let the runoff stand there for 15-20 minutes as sometimes, if the soil is REALLY dry, the excess water will be soaked back up into the soil... then I water it some more and keep doing that until no more water is soaked back up and I throw the excess water away. This ensures there are no dry spots in your soil... roots, if they hit a dry spot, will simply stop growing... But always, always, always make sure your pot is dry before giving them more.... Good luck!

High uktuk, Yeah you did! The first 2 weeks you only need 100ml water and try to only water at the edge of the pot. This was the small plant has to search for the water and for that growing a big and strong root system. Then give water again when the top layer (2-3cm) is completely dry. After 2 weeks you can water 10% from your pot volume. And you do the same thing as mentioned above. Wait till the top layer of the soil is completely dry before you water the plants again. Happy Growing! 😋

I think you have it covered. A gentle fan breeze may help. Good luck, i am sure it will survive. Check surface by poking your finger in it or compression if it's coco, I really can't be arsed to go check. Don't water until the pots WEIGH between, dry weight vs wet weight, this is most reliable way to tell it's time. Good luck 👍
