Cold night temperatures

Amandusstarted grow question 2 years ago
We are heading into some cold overnight temperatures later this week. Low 40's likely, with daytime 55-60. No rain expected, or not much at least, but unseasonably chilly and cloudy. This one needs time, however. Should I cover it, drag it inside for overnight.. suggestions?

If you can manage it, I would most CERTAINLY get that lady inside at night! I'm not sure just covering her is going to have as much benefit and may still be too cold for her. You'd have to arrange a cover that would not touch or crush her buds, too, wouldn't you?! I had to do that - haul plants in at night - at the beginning of the summer as our nights were just as cold as what you're talking about - and it worked a treat. I was lucky because I was hauling in SMALL plants at the beginning of their lives... Whatever your decision - bring her in or cover her up, you've got to do something or you will lose her to those temps! Good luck!

Thanks @Alchemy_Aotearoa -- yes, that's 4 or 5 celsius. After a slow start to the summer, we've had a lovely August in 20-28 celsius, tomorrow we drop like a wet rag into full-on late Fall temps. She's not in ground, and I harvested my heavy outdoor container last week, so this one can move (and will). My super skunk may also get an early harvest, as she's looking loaded with trichomes, even if not quite ready yet. Appreciate the concern and the tips!

Greetings from a slowly warming New Zealand Amandus! Am I right in thinking that is 4 degrees Celsius (metric system lol)? Cos holy shit if you dont want your hard work to freeze to death I would cover immediately! Ideally you would want to maintain 17 Degrees Celsius or over...but Wow! That is cold for weed...I worry when I go below 15 Degree Celsius a balmy 55 Fahrenheit where you are. Am not sure if you are in the actual ground or in pots. If in pots move them in at night..I suspect even the days will be cold so maybe keep them inside and put them by window so they still get sun...but if they are in the ground definitely cover! You can layer newspaper or cardboard around the roots to insulate somewhat, and a soft non furry blanket works well when propped on stakes or pegged on ropes around plant to cover. I hope that helps Im genuinely concerned about your plants. Sticky Buds!

Thanks, @GrowingGrannie -- will do. She can be moved, and I have a warmish shed close-by. Could even ostensibly hook up a grow light for an indoor finish, though worried I might bring in some bugs to my wintertime grow area if I did that...
