Is my baby girl dead?

I'm upset that it looks like my little baby passed away. As I said it took me a while to put it in the pot after germination. Today when I took a look at her she seemed so weak that I believe I have lost her. Is there anything I can do? Should I just wait a few days? Thank you. 😢

till she wilts, she is ok i think she grew upside down and its not first time you dig her, otherwise it is genetic mistake and you just have to start new one. few days will sort everything, stop touching plant for nothing or photos/videos Happy Growing !!!

Start another seed. That sprout is dead. That is one reason I soak seeds for about 24 hours in water then plant the seed in it's forever pot. The young plant is very easily damaged and planting a seed (not a sprout) avoids all of the handling and transplanting. You can skip the soak in water but germination will take a little longer.

She looks rough. If it isn't dead, it might be soon. I agree with GG: pop another seed. But, this time, get the soil in your pot nice and moist. Then, plant your seed about 1/8"-1/4" below the surface, cover it up, and pack the soil a little bit. It'll pop in a few days. Good luck!

GrowingGrannie Don't you think I should germinate on paper towels and then put them in the soil (this time at the right time)? Should I still put it as a seed directly in the ground? Can I call you in chat to ask some more questions?

I'm so sorry for your loss.... but yeah, she's gone. Pop another seed, this time do it directly in the pot... you can even just plant the seed right where that one is - the soil is fairly moist... just make an indentation in the soil and place the seed, cover it with a little bit of soil and press down lightly... keep the area MOIST, not wet and keep it warm. I like to stick a couple of toothpicks around and lay a bit of cling film over it (I don't have anything I can use as a humidity dome)... if you DO have a clear plastic pot that you can invert on the top to keep the humidity in there, you wouldn't need to worry about keeping the soil moist until the seedling appears... When the seedling DOES appear, you can prop the dome up just a little so fresh air can get in but the humidity is maintained... Remember, the biggest danger to seedlings is that you will drown them so do not over-water them... just spray the soil AROUND them with water - the roots will be encouraged to grow this way. Good luck - onward and upward!
