I know soil is the foundation of a healthy, thriving marijuana crop and it is important to choose the right soil for the desired outcome. What is the right soil that will provide the perfect environment for my marijuana plants to thrive and produce the best results?

I wouldn't trade my biobizz all-mix for anything else, provide enough nutrients for the 4-6 first weeks then you can feed lightly along flowering.

I would recommend taking a hike, watch how nature grows and collecting some leaf mold. cultivating some micro organisms from your gathered leaf mold. This will be the basis for a great soil. Don’t be fixated on buying things and learn to be a little more self sufficient. Check out JADAM on YouTube

What is your desired result? Pretty much depends on this too. Open up a little more. The soil does not create the environment, but you create an environment where the soil is good, and you will get results... 😀 What kind of setup does the grow room have, light, air, grow tent or closet. Everything you have dreamed of doing affects your results.

Because I had similar thoughts before I started, I just want to clarify something that would've helped me at the time. The word soil has a specific meaning and it is not necessary to grow a plant. What the plant needs is a 'medium' to grow in, such as coco coir, peat moss, clay pebbles, soil as you mentioned, or even water. While obviously, water isn't soil, it can become confusing when you start trying to understand what plants need in different growing mediums. So, it's very important that when you're doing your research or getting advice about what the plant will need that you understand the context in relation to what medium is discussed. In short, do not follow advice aimed at one medium while intending to use another.

There are some good mixes out there varying on price. Depending on your garden center some might be designed for cannabis. Traditionally in the old times we had to build our own by mixing composted manure with regular of top soil and peat. Pricing and availability might determine what you get. Read the labels watch for wetting agents that stuff is preloaded. Like grannies advice says the young ones are sensitive so try not to make it too hot. Then what are you going to use for nutrients are you using chemical base salts like 20 20 20 or will you be going living soil. The salts might be harmful to the microbes. It would seem the old way is now the new way. Moving into a more natural soil composition vs industrial chemical base. It is a very open question, honestly it depends what you like working with vs what you can get your hands on. Id start slow and add its easier then trying to rinse out, if possible, check some diaries lots of people here use soil and could definitely help with specific mixes

You're going to get a multitude of different answers here... when I grow in soil, since all I grow are autoflowers and they hate nutes for the first couple of weeks of their lives, I don't want ANY nutes in it at all as I want to be able to control what they get, how much they get and when they get it - what I DO want is something that has good aeration so the plants get good oxygen to the roots... and I use ProMixHP. Other swear by living soil, others by some cannabis outfit's special soil... Me? I've gone to DWC because I don't want to have to deal with soil at all... The long and the short of it is, get some soil, start growing, adjust what you need to adjust and figure out if you want to use that soil again or, based on your experience, find something else that more suits your needs and grow style. Good luck!

I recommend to buy profesional soil, like Canna profesional, 5% perlite, it has everything your plant will need in the first month of life so you don’t have to think in feeding them, only root booster maybe, also drains well because of perlite If you are afraid of overfeeding them, then try to look after a light mix Coconut soils comes without any nutrient, i would only choose it if i am experienced

Hi Growmee! The ideal soil for cannabis growth is nutrient-rich and well-draining, with a pH between 6 and 7. It should also have good aeration and water retention properties. A good soil mix for cannabis would include equal parts of peat moss, perlite, and vermiculite, and can also contain other organic matter such as compost or worm castings. It is also possible to grow cannabis in hydroponic systems using nutrient solutions instead of soil.
