My very well trained photo Papaya (Nirvana - Citric x Ice) is significantly decreasing in happiness since yesterday. She looks thirsty but the fabric pot is still heavy and moist (watered 4 days ago), also the leaves on lower half turned yellow today. Too much / little of what?

were these indoors before, by chance? looks like they are not used to full sunlight. if you are taking them in and out, just pick one... leaves adapt to teh light they receive. it may need to build up some resistance to the sun if you want them outside. the yellowing from bottom-up is a nitrogen deficiency. again, if it was inside before and now out, it may have greater feeding requirements, but not guaranteed. more so if it was underpowered inside and now receiving more DLI it can use. if the pot is moist is is not related to water... stick to normal irrigation practices. you water entire thing, wait for top 1" to dry (or some specific loss of weight) and re-irrigate at that time. rinse and repeat. if oyu weren't doing that, do it now. always make sure entirety get wet. if you've been keeping it too moist, this could be the cause, but it's not for lack of water. they way t is shriveled up, i think it's the sun.

Special thanks to creepy_steve who let me in on the secret on how to post messages successfully 😂😂😂 Also: What I missed in the prev responses. My papaya has 2 sisters who have undergone the exact same treatment from seed until 2 days ago, when she started showing signs of weakness. All of them were outside from germination time, when the sun was available, but inside when sun was down or on cloudy days. Not sure exactly what did the trick, but she is still recovering. Volume of leaves almost back to normal and has genarally a healthy look. I suspect a mix from too much sun, while water lock, also leveraged by pH of 6, 8. While EC is a little low with 1, 3, I will observe for now, update you in the evening, and start feeding in 25% dose of previously given when top is dry again in 2-3 days.

Hmm so you do 9am-8:30pm what did you do inside? you continue with 6h light or place her in dark space where no light can enter... You need to make it so u have regular cycle 18/6.. 18 sun/light 6 nigh /completed darkness.. If u dont have light home then you will need to take her out at sunrise 🌅😊 Am not familiar with nutrition only the one am using will be better if you start with half of what is written.. Also water the plant every 2 to 3 days when u add water/nutrition make sure is runoff, water the plant in the evening or early morning to help prevent water evaporation during the hottest hours

In my opinion she is water logged. I would pull back on the watering. Let the top soil almost dry out and start a lighter watering schedule. Wilting under watered drooping too much water.

The issue is ph. My plants stop drinking when ph gets out of range. Measure run off ph. To see how to adjust. It may be starting to rot after days of being wet. So it's vital to correct asap. 🌱

the yellow leaves' nitrogen deficiency (vegetable state high level of nitrogen)… edges of the leaf curve up high temperature with low humidity .. during the hot time try to move the plant in shadow somewhere or get a clot for sun shade or something ... that all I can help I apologue I don't have experience with outside
