Neither shoujld randomly spike. check callibration on your 2-in-1 pen. 1 EC is mild, so if anything is off a bit it should have been an easy adjustment to smooth things out by now in bloom. ph-adjust as best you can. if it continues to swing, consider a different fertilizer that ph-buffers their products to a stable pH. i have terrible habits with my reservoir. yet to see any ph swings in 3 years of using it. ensure no light is hitting the water and enough circulation occurring relative to how long the water sits before significant refills. how warm is it? could be growing something. EC increasing from evaporation if it's exposed to air is possible, but would not occur super fast. something that would steadily happen over time. or, you got some microbe causing issues. use beneficial microbes to compete or h2o2 to sanitize. Ah, as i sit here.. are the temps of the water different in the morning? tho you pen probably adjusts readings for temperature. something to verify. matter doesn't manifest from nothing, so something is causing more cunductive molecules to exist per volume, not necessarily more mass.
