has anyone ever tried LED corn lights for growing? I noticed that these plants respond the best to bright white LEDs

I think efficiency would play a part. If you are looking for white/full spectrum LEDs, look into quantum boards, COBs or something similar.

Yes, I tried cheap corn light. Out put drop to half after 15 minutes. Light also points in wrong direction. You either have to direct fans to cool the bulbs. Or use it only as supplementary side light. I ended up bought Cree LED with cooling fan set for my seedling. It is really too powerful. And yes, white light works really well during seedling and veg. Go for light color of 5,500 K or 6,500 k. I went with 5,500 and it is a bit more yellow. Cheers

There are many ways to achieve that white light spectrum ur talking about more effectively! Metal halide bulbs with a Kelvin higher than 6000k will emit more and more of that white spectrum u speak of! But also effectively give u more lumens per watt ect than those u speak of. Also COB LEDs running in a higher Kelvin rating would pump that white spectrum and also give u s much more effective watt to lumen ratio. I think in this case it's more about efficiency than the question of would they work. Happy growing and stay lit fam.
