Trichome maturing after harvest

I'm curious about how much more trichomes mature into amber after harvest? If I chop at 20%, will it proceed to 30 or 40% as I dry and cure? Do you havest based on the current state or a future target in mind?

I have found that two weeks of drying at 25 °C in the dark with a fan provides the best results.

Trichomes can continue to mature after harvest during the drying and curing process, but the rate of maturation is generally slower compared to when the plant is actively growing. The majority of trichomes are likely to be in their final state at the time of harvest. Harvesting based on the current state of trichome development is a common practice. The ideal time to harvest is when the trichomes have reached the desired level of maturity for the effects you seek. Here's a general guide: Clear Trichomes: Harvesting at this stage is likely to result in a more energetic and cerebral effect. Cloudy Trichomes: This stage is often considered optimal for a balance of effects, offering a mix of both uplifting and relaxing qualities. Amber Trichomes: Harvesting with a higher percentage of amber trichomes can lead to a more sedative or relaxing effect. If you harvest at 20% amber trichomes, it's unlikely that you'll see a significant increase in amber trichomes during the drying and curing process. Drying and curing primarily affect the preservation of cannabinoids and terpenes rather than substantial changes in trichome color. It's a good practice to monitor trichomes regularly leading up to harvest to catch the optimal window for your desired effects. Personal preference plays a significant role, and experimenting with different harvest times can help you find what suits your preferences best.

decaying / degradation milky/amber is a sign of molecular degradation in the trichome. it is a loss of potency, not peak potency. the suggestions regarding trichomes is for the current state. I'd suggest taking buds off at different points. label them. find out what you prefer without any prejudice from the peanut gallery. Just as nyquil can make some people hyper and other comatose, thc can affect people differently. find what you like. the suggestions can provide a start and end window for your experimentation. 10-70%? higher? depends on whom you ask.

in my understanding, trichomes dont get " riper" while curing. at least only low grade. because if they would get riper during curing you always have amber trichomes, or degraded THC in every weed and if you look at cured weed under amicroscope, there are all stages of trichomes on your weed. i would say, look for the grade of amber trichomes , and harvest. i see no sense in calculationg how much they will gt riper. look for dark and not to hot places for you storage ( after cured)
