Harvest timing

geeseeds
geeseedsstarted grow question 2 months ago
Week 7 day 5 of a ~50/50, got the best shot of the trichomes that I could. I'm not very experienced in timing the harvest, how much longer should I expect to wait... or now?

Looking at the pictures in your diary, where more of the overall is shown, I see way more white pistols than dark. Also, as numbers down there said, they are long as well. I can’t say a specific time, but it’s not anytime soon. Looks like you have bud fattening time still. I can’t really get much from what I see of the trichs, but when you see way more dark pistils and they start to look scraggly.. you’re close. Let them babies grow

hard to tell.. the magnifcation is blurred. look frosty but could be clear in reality etc.. it's as much art as science. If you are consistent about waiting for a particlar % of amber (multiple locations at multiple levels on the plant... average it out best you can) some prefer an earlier or later harvest window. you may want to test out more than 1 level of ripeness. you can always harvest the bulk when you think it is best, but leave a few buds to ripen longer or take off a few buds a bit earlier if you are shooting for a later point for the bulk. usually, a later harvest will have a mellower/sleepy effect. This will not be the same for every single person. think of Nyquil -- makes some hyper while most others fall into a deep coma within 15minutes, lol. So, it's worth the effort to harvest at different point to learn what you prefer... take notes of what you prefer -- the amount of cloudy and amber trichomes etc... i shoot for about 10% amber because i like an earlier harvest effects. Each to their own on that stuff. your pistils still seem long - meaning teh calyx can ripen/plump more around the hairs. Hard to give you an estimate based on picture. you need to assess moer than 1 location and not solely focusing on top colas.
