A kitchen cabinet turned into a humidor-like space would be okay.
O2 is your enemy, so any container or cabinet with a tone of atmosphere to bud ratio will cause weed to deteriorate faster than necessary.
Light, heat, and excess O2 are things that break down the THC molecule into non-psychoactive molecules or evaporate terps that provide flavor.
If you smoke it all up within 3-6 months you don't have to worry too much about how you store it. A 'humidor' cabinet space could work in this context and you probably wouldn't notice any issues.
fuck mason jars, imo. They are too small and it's a hassle to open up 20 or more jars to burp them or to air them out to avoid brown/gross weed over time. O2 may breakdown THC, but anaerobic bacteria that will grow in a sealed jar wher ethe o2 gets depleted will be an even worse outcome, lol. Damned if you do or don't in the case of O2. The only way around that problem is to replace the air with N2 in the container or something like vacuum sealing, which compresses the buds a bit.
If you grow larger quantities, look into 3-, 5- or 7-gallon buckets with gamma seal lids. 2 or 3 67-gram 62% boveda 2-way humidipaks per bucket. I use the threadless mesh fruit bags to store multiple different plants in the same bucket. I chose my 'smoke jar' size based on how long it takes me to smoke it up - this coincides with a good schedule for opening up the container 1/week to avoid anaerobic growth. I'll consolidate buckets when i can, because again.. want to limit the amount of air in the container as best you can. So far, this is more than sufficeint for 1-year storage concerns and likely a bit longer too. Beyond that, you want to vacuum seal or N2 replacement etc.
Boveda packs, despite being a little pricey are worth it. Do not by the integra boost 2-way humidity packs as they do not maintain the RH% they adveretise. You can rehydrate these packs too, but if you put them in a jar of tainted/diseased buds you'll ruin the 2-way packs.
During initial curing you don't want to fill the jars beyond 75%, but you want it filled fully after that stage.
A humidor-like cabinet will keep the buds properly hydrated and avoid dry-rot, but it won't slow the loss of potency over time as much as other options.
A commercial air pump and some tubing can automate any burping process. (see video in my older of 2 diaries.)
