High Bartman91, Only defoliate the necessary!!! There are only 2 reasons to defoliate. Reason 1 is when leaves are stacked on eachother blocking airflow and moist can not escape from between the leaves. This will cause mold and other issues. Reason 2 is when a large leaf on top of the plant does block a huge amount of light for more leaves (surface) below this leaf. You can study your plant and see if defoliation is necessary. If not it will only decrease yield!!! The more surface your plant got the more photosynthesis it can do and this will result in more sticky and juicy buds! 💚

You really don't need to worry about defoliation unless you have an incredibly congested canopy with a lot of crowding, aka several plants with multiple tops. In those circumstances there are benefits, but it typically doesn't apply to 95% of the people who ask the question. When you have wall to wall tops and when you run your hand through the branches you find damp spots, THAT'S when you start considering it.

Just remember............. Less leaves = less energy being made = less potential growth. If the plant would not need those leaves, it would not grow them in the first place! Why defoliate? What for? Leaves are ESSENTIAL for proper plant growth and functioning. Just remember............ Maximum amount of leaves = maximum amount of energy production = maximum amount of yield.

She dont need any defoliation. People dont understand why to use it. What is nice for human eye, dont work for plants. You would have 2 or 3 times more branches in same space - would say you need it and timing would be right, but not with this plant...

Hello. Yes, I always trim them up before the 3rd week of flowering, before the resin starts. I concentrate on removing sucker branches, bottom fan leaves that don't get much light. I also remove "some" of the fan leaves in the middle for better air flow and better light penetration to the bud sites. Remember it you remove more than 1/3 of the leaves you'll send the plant into shock. But sometimes you have to. Once the plants have recovered they will go straight into resin production. Then leave them alone till the end, but you can remove a couple of fan leaves if they get in the way. You'll get good results. Chuck.

The plant from your diary does not require any defoliation that i can see. any condensation forming? Are they pushed up against the tent wall? If not, leaves are supremely important. Don't remove them. Fan leaves do not waste energy. Leaves are most definitely not "sinks." That is some unsubstantiated bro-science bastardizing some oversimplified concept of plant biology. Even heavily shileded leaves are performing useful tasks. Transpiration alone is enough to outweigh whatever nonsense is being used to argue removal and leaves do more than just that. the sugars produced by photosynthesis are freely flowing through the phloem - it is highly mobile. Apical dominance dictates growth patterns not so much where the light hits. Keep the leaves. Resist dogma! The plant will shed leaves it does not need. Removing leaves can potentially delay flower, too, which costs you more money and time with no benefit in return.

After the buds have formed and the leaves coneted to the buds are developed then the only fan leaves you have to keep on the plant are the top few sets. Lots of people will say I'm wrong but I do it every grow. About day 21 of flower I do a Hard defoliation of the mid section of the plant. Then around 10 ton14days layer I cut almost all the fan leaves off my plants. After a certain point the fan leaves are just wasting energy. The small leaves coming fromThe buds are what do all the work latter in flower. Never never remove top 2 to 3 sets of fan leaves

Hello there your grow looks great. Let's keep this simple. Make sure you keep the top few set of fan leaves. Also keep some lower fan leaves. You want to clean up the mid section of the plant this will allow light penitration then when you keep some lower fan leaves it will catch some the light that gets past the buds. I hope this helps. Your doing great do what comes naturally You have done great so far be confident you will do

Once pre flower has stopped (upwards growing of nodes) and the swell starts. Yup. You can go up and down sets. Don't remove too much too quick. 10/15% every day or even 2. Leave lower growth, (once it's not blocking light and only dirt below) these are good energy inlets for the bottom. Having setting through the bottom and top (of fan leaves) and in ripening you can take even less. With a lower % of light. Feel free to DM me if u need help Good
