If the duct tape doesn't hold up to the negative pressure the next step up would probably be some RV repair tape. It's both stronger and stickier than duct tape. It's used for patching roofs primarily but we also use it to patch the hoop houses.

most tent manufactures sell patch kits. Just get one of them at your local shop or order online. Temp can use duct tape and metal tape for heated duct work as well. For pinholes black nail polish is not great. will chip off or crack. Best to use a patch kit and trim down to size. or the tapes listed above. My tent came with one big patch hole cover 6" and one smaller one 3" so I can cut that stuff up if I every get any holes.

duct tape isn't going to hold on to that outside canvas for long. that reflective duct tape on inside might be your best bet. Just might have to replace it every year or two. unless you stitch something in, adhesive of any type isn't great long-term.

Duct tape dries, doesn't hold with negative pressure as mentioned. Every tent I've bought comes with repair patches, aluminum duct tape works well if applied from both sides.

Good quality duct tape on both sides of the rip.

Duct tape will work, especially on the outside of the tent but i like aluminum foil tape, which you can use on the inside of the tent for added strength so that the tear doesn't get any bigger. Aluminum tape also tends to stick much better than duct tape and usually has a higher heat rating, which can be a nice peace of mind if using it in a spot that's near your lights.
