What do y'all use to check trichomes?

Hey growers, I was wondering what y'all use to check trichomes. I have a 60x-120x, but it's extremely unpractical. Always gets out of focus and need to hold it ON the flower to be able to see anything. I would like to not spend a crazy amount on it if possible. Thank you! :D

too much magnification will get difficult to hold steady. Even with 30-60X you'll get up nice and tight to that bud. to see and even closer with greater magnification. A glass lense is a feature i look for. the cheap currency checkers are great options.. jeweler's loupes, too... most will be advertised as both interchangeably. If you go through amazon or similar, read the comments. i bet you'll see some of the people are pot growers and will mention if it's good enough or not. as always, lots of exaggeration in specifications. I have a "30x" that is definitely short of 30x, but still works well enough. Not a recommendation, just an example that you can find a cheap one https://www.amazon.com/illuminated-Jeweler-Kare-Kind-package/dp/B015RINTFM/ I had one like these. think the lense is plastic. i wasn't a fan of this model but was sufficient. The phone clip-on accessories for this type of scope suck. If you find one that form-fits your phone, that'll work a lot better if you want pictures. The desktop microscopes will give the best images, but also can't be hand-held due to magnification, so it takes dry buds or cutting something off to use them. Ahh, one marijuana grower in 'top' comments (c kearney) saying basically the same things i said.

I like mouses technique. the jewelers loupe works but can hard to get in there and see. i usually will chop little piece off and bring them to a more favorable location to examine like my kitchen counter, then try to get some pictures, or use the loupe. I harvest when I see about 10 percent amber. usually will have around 80 percent milky and 10 percent still clear. That's what i am for at least. Other factors may induce me to harvest sooner or later.

Hey, the typical cheap magnifying glass from the growshop is mostly 40-60x which should be enought to identify the diffrent trichomes colours like clear, milky and amber. If you increase the enlargement the effekt of shaking is increasing too If you like to check your buds for foreign material like insects, dust, fibers or other shit like mold which should not be on your buds i would recommend a USB microscope which you can connect with your smartphone/tablet or pc. There also diffrent price ranges from cheap to expensive but the cheap ones start not much more then the regular growshop glasses Cameras and Smartphones can also work pretty well, depends on there lense etc I use a digital microscope with 10-280x which can take pictures and videos

I take a pic with my phone and zoom in. its good enough. There are cheaper jewelers loops you can get if you think you need it. I also have a clip on lens from an old phone that make the regular camera 15x. helps with identfying bugs and stuff but rarley use it.
