depends on how fast those stems get woody. I've had some that get quite rigid quickly, and others i could wait a week and still bend it around with no problem -- even if not mainlining, i mean i could shape it to do so had i wanted to given the flexibility.
LST is simply shifting apical dominance by manipulating height of node(s). You can do it as you feel necessary. Too much too early can shock a plant.. if it stops growing for a second or two, you were probably too early for that sort of stress.
