I absolutely love this cultivar/strain, but it is a beast to grow! The difficulty is managing her size, and providing her with the space she needs to spread out, stretch, and flourish! If given love, light, and nutrients; defoliated and cared for, this plant will give you an abundance of goodness to make life’s stresses, and pain melt away for a while. This diary is my 4th DarkStar diary, and the 3rd from a single seed. Growing weed is awesome, and DarkStar is a gem all growers should try at some point in their lives!

It’s celebration time in The_Good_Twin grow room!! Stella’s Cuatro/Trio is finally finished. I’d like to apologize for the length of time this harvest took, but the outcome is a happy one. DarkStar by T.H. Seeds is an absolutely marvelous cultivar! This is the third DarkStar diary that I’ve completed, with one more still going. I would like to recognize T.H.Seeds for their excellent work in creating this lovely indica cultivar. 🏆🏆Top notch genetics are much appreciated! Thank you very much. 🏆🏆 This cultivar/strain is excellent after a hard stressful day, or for any occasion where you want to sit back, chill a while and relax. It’s great for pain relief, as well as stress, and allows the mind to wonder along less stressful, and more creative pathways. This plant is excellent against your normal and not so normal growing deficiencies, and if you can maintain control of its growth, then anyone with attention, and time can grow this plant. I’ve brought up their size many times during the diary, so I won’t dwell on it here. Just note - This plant can, and will double in size once flowering begins. I would recommend this cultivar to anyone who likes a good, strong indica to put them in a good, relaxed mood.

I started this diary with zero experience with auto-period plants. I had never grown one before and I didn’t know what to expect. Boy was I PLEASANTLY surprised! I want to begin by sending a great BIG thank you to the people at Exotic Seed Company! They have produced an absolutely amazing product that quite nearly grows itself! Jackie (as I called her), presented no problems, no issues, nothing negative at all to report. 🏆🏆 Bravo to Exotic Seed Company 🏆🏆 Bravo, not just for the top notch genetics, but also because Jackie here was grown from a free sample seed that was sent along with my seed order. I couldn’t have asked for a better grow, and I would recommend both, the cultivar, and the seed company to anyone!

First, allow me to thank the folks at T.H. Seeds for creating such an outstanding cultivar. Truly top shelf genetics which produce an incredible, and wonderful plant! 🏆🏆 DarkStar by T.H. Seeds is an absolutely fabulous cultivar to grow, and an even better to smoke! It is a strong plant that has a wonderful resilience against high heat, extended periods without water, and nutrient deficiencies. It is a hearty plant that grows very large and dense buds. The reason that I say that it’s hard to grow deals mainly with its size. DarkStar, regardless of your growing style or method, tends to be a very large plant. Depending on your growing space, you may need to use both LST and HST methods in order for it to fit in your grow space. However, if you can grow it, and keep its size in check or at least under control, then growing this marvelous cultivar is totally worth the effort! It is mostly an indica, but does have some sativa qualities that make this hybrid best for evening when you can just take a few hits, then ride the wave at the beginning to settle down for a stress free night of relaxation and creativity. The yield for such a plant is exactly what you believe it may be… large! To date I have harvested 2 plants of this cultivar and both have yielded more than 7 ounces. What’s not to like about that!?!

🏆🏆 I want to thank the folks at Humboldt Seed Company for the top shelf genetics used in producing this strain! 🏆🏆 it is their top strain and I can see why. These plants were very easy to grow, and strongly resistant to insects and nutrient deficiencies. Their structure was allowed to grow naturally with minimal training, and developed nicely uniform Christmas tree shapes. They responded very well to pruning, and defoliation on several instances during both stages of growth. The flowers grew large and dense and were covered in trichomes at the end. I needed to use support poles to keep them from snapping under their own weight. I lost 1 branch to this at the end of week 14. An extended period of darkness just before harvest allowed all three plants to develop some beautiful colors as well. Dark purples, with some pink edges mixed with some green on the leaves. Purple and green colored buds covered with trichomes and orange hairs. Very pretty plants, but their smell is what sticks with you! Fruits and berries galore!! OMFG! The smell is absolutely wonderful to the point that it isn’t disheartening that the whole house smells like weed, when the weed smells like this! Very pleasant indeed!

Growing this plant was both a pain in the ass, as well as a delight. I guess we can say that about a lot of things in life. It was hard to grow in that the branches on my plant never got hard. They wouldn’t stand on their own without support, and this made them very easy to break even when trying to be cautious. The buds are huge and dense and the plant smells divine. She had some leaf issues, but nothing terrible. Read the diary for details. SMOKE REPORT I’m going to start by saying WOW! This lovely Lady smells amazing in bud form, but DAMN!! Ground up it just fills your nose with a fruity sweet smell that is hard to relate to marijuana. It is a mix of berries, fruit, and earth. The taste is different to me than my wife in that I taste a hint of grapefruit at the end, but my wife only tastes the sweet berry, fruit flavors. She says it’s like raisins at the end, but I don’t taste it. It really doesn’t matter because it’s nice and smooth, and tastes lovely either way you look at it. The effects were different for my wife and I as well, but kind of the same. It’s just the degree of like ability that’s different. Let me start by stating a sort of disclaimer. The bud we smoked is from the broken branches from July 28th. The branches broke while I was moving the plant during the harvest of another plant, and they were just hung up to dry with the Blueberry Muffin I was harvesting at the time. The rest of the buds (which have just begun to cure) have not been tried yet, and kept growing and maturing for an additional 2 weeks longer than what we smoked. Now, after having said all that; Blue Ox is super chill! The effect is slow and gradual (but not too slow), but wholly complete. You feel it first in your perception of the world around you. What I mean is that you become super focused and calm. All of your pain slowly begins to disappear until it’s all gone. Neck, back, knees. Pain free! Your mood is relaxed to the point that you don’t want to do anything but just chill out and relax. It was like being in your normal mode, but knocked down to low gear. I didn’t note any euphoria, or other “high” kind of head effects at all, but I was so relaxed that I didn’t care. My wife is in LOVE with this strain. She says it is the best that she has tried to date, and likes it very much. Munchies!!! OMFG! Snacks are a must for this strain because you can’t seem to stop snacking, but that’s not all together a bad thing. Overall, I’m pleased with this strain, but I am hoping for more heady feelings from the main plant once it has been given time to cure properly. As it is now, if the effects hold true; Blue Ox is something that I would want to smoke after a particularly hard or stressful day. If you need to clear your head of worry or stress, or you’re feeling some pain anywhere and just want to relax, then Blue Ox is the strain for you. If you’re having any problems with nausea, or loss of appetite, or just need to eat, then Blue Ox may be for you as well. It’s said to be used by cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy, and I can see how that may be a benefit of this strain. I’m beginning to understand the many differences in the world of marijuana, and I can see how every strain can find it’s own niche in the world. Weed is wonderful, and I enjoy learning more and more about it, and improving my understanding of it all with each plant I grow. If the effects of smoking the Blue Ox change after smoking the other bud once it has cured for a couple of weeks I’ll update the smoke report accordingly. Until then; this concludes the grow diary for my Blue Ox by Rare Dankness Seeds

09 Aug 2021 OFFICIAL SMOKE REPORT Apparently my wife did not approve of my timeline and insisted that I “grind some of that sweet smelling weed so we can try it!” She didn’t want to wait, so of course…. Happy Wife, Happy Life! Let me start by saying, that this is the best smelling weed I personally have had the chance to smell. Granted, I admit my limited experience in time smoking weed, but I have hardly ever smoked the same strain more than just a few grams worth at a time. This beauty doesn’t really smell like marijuana as we normally think of it. It smells like ground up fruit, berries, but with weed texture. It’s really awesome! Oh! By the way, my mind is ABLAZE right now while I’m writing this; so forgive any mistypes or other hair brained foolery. Back to the smoke report.. It tastes like blueberry muffins. There, I said it. But, it’s totally true! It also tastes fruity, sweet, with a earthy sweet finish. It is super smooth! FYI, both my wife and I are non-smokers, and it is SmOOOth! Very pleasant. If you rub your tongue on the back of your teeth at the exhale you can taste the blueberry muffin clearly. It’s same grade A tasty bud!! 🏆 It smells great! It tastes great! But how does it make you feel you may ask? Allow me to tell you a tale… I was sitting on my deck with my wife, and after a couple of hits, she looks at me and says, “Maybe it will be better in a couple of weeks.” At that moment I was thinking the same thing. Then it started….. slowly at first, very slowly. You feel it first right in the middle of your forehead. The best way I can describe this is: Try to imagine your head is hollow and is being filled by (who knows, but I’d like to image water, or light.) something, pouring into you through your forehead. You feel it filling you up from the chin, until your hollow head is full. Then it’s a watershed, all over your body, running down the neck, to shoulders, arms, and a wave over your whole body to the toes. My wife was reclining back in her chair and described it as connecting her brain to her whole body, and she could feel every small sensation all at once. I concur! I am chilled the Fuck out! All my pain is gone; and I live with pain daily. Weed, and a one a day Celebrex are my only pain treatment. My mind is, as I mentioned at the beginning, ABLAZE!! I could tell you how many times I’ve had to stop making this sound like an adventure novel, but believe me, I’m stopping and thinking of shit as I write this and I’m just trying to keep it coherent. If you like weed that sets your creativity ablaze, then look no further! Wow! This is some good shit! I keep telling myself that it has only been curing for three, yes, 3 days! It’s just going to get better!! I can’t wait, and I’m so glad that she gave me three healthy clones that are growing well right now! This concludes the smoke report. I think. I still have to proofread and edit, and ….. You all know.

DarkStar Kush was a challenge for a first time grower like myself. A lot of lessons learned, but all for me, the plant was wonderful! It grew easily, and matured well. I allowed it to veg for 10 weeks, which made it a large plant before the flowering stage was started. It became an absolute BEAST during flower, but not in a bad way. It stretched quite a bit during the initial switch, which made it so large because it was already a large plant. It was very resilient against increased heat, extra days without water, and nutrient deficiencies. I didn’t experience any true negatives growing this strain, and I totally plan on growing it again. Just not as big!
