A soil without organic matter will generally have a low Cation Exchange Capacity (CEC). Biochar is often prized for its potential to increase soil cation exchange capacity (CEC), but this effect is highly dependent on the specific properties of the biochar (feedstock and pyrolysis temperature) and the soil type to which it is applied. High-ash biochars, especially those produced at lower temperatures and applied to acidic or sandy soils, can significantly boost CEC by providing abundant binding sites for cations like calcium (Ca²⁺), magnesium (Mg²⁺), and potassium (K⁺). Biochar is more sustainable than typical organic matter for long-term soil improvement primarily due to its high stability and resistance to microbial decomposition, allowing it to persist in the soil for hundreds to thousands of years. This longevity provides a lasting positive effect on soil properties, particularly by increasing the cation exchange capacity (CEC) over time, while regular organic matter breaks down much faster. Biochar generally offers a much higher CEC than coco coir, though specific values vary greatly; while coco coir might sit around 40-60 cmol/kg, biochar can range from tens to over 200 cmol/kg, with sources like Acacia wood biochar or even coconut shell biochar often surpassing coco's capacity due to its porous structure, creating significantly more cation-binding sites for nutrients, making it superior for nutrient retention. Needs to be charged similar to coco but at a much higger rate. But shhhh.. It's a secret. Ancient biochar-rich soils in the Amazon basin (known as Terra Preta) provide evidence of carbon stability lasting over 500 to 2,000+ years. Recommend a balanced ratio of key cations, particularly calcium (Ca), magnesium (Mg), and potassium (K). A widely accepted general "ideal soil" cation saturation ratio is approximately 65-85% Ca, 6-12% Mg, and 2-5% K. That's roughly what I give mine. Can even add N in its NH4+ form

Will need to mix another batch of nutes tomorrow. 8/18: Mixed new batch of nutes today. Mixed in gallon jug. Split into half gallon jug. Topped off rez with full half gallon jug then some plaint water from half gallon jug. 8/20: Mixed another batch of nutes for the week.

4/28 Day 35 I wish this plant was bigger. Could be my fault. Her transition to flower was at such an odd time(3weeks) and that’s when her last feeding was coming to an end but should I give her flower nutes early? Do half an half? Or just wait and then give flower? I waited and I shouldn’t have considering that organic inputs take time to feed your plants. Depending on what you’re using. First time trying Gaia green. I do like the ease of it but it would take some adjustments for me to utilize it best. A month between feeding is too long for my impatient ass and it gives me too long of a commitment to not fuck up. I’m also using roots organics with some other plants and I’m really liking the weekly feedings. It makes more sense than a month. What if I have a strain that’s like 10 week flower? Do I just do another dose at week 7 and 8 and then because it’s “organic you don’t need to flush” thing. Probably over thinking it but yeah here’s my plant yall 😂

Con una sobrevida final de un 90% vivieron 27 clones llevan una semana alimentándose con Green Grow y Gold Sunshine a media dosis, tolerando muy bien la primera fertilización, se notan los resultados inmediatamente, mucho follaje nuevo, verde intenso en hojas, fortalecieron los tallos y crecieron bastante. Quedaron todos en macetas de 1 litro, seleccione los 12 que pasaran a macetas de 11 litros, sin ningún tipo de poda, el resto de clones realice poda de ramas bajas, en el trasplanté deje el primer nudo de hojas a ras de suelo, para disminuir altura y aumentar superficie radicular realizando un leve raspaje en el tallo.

It's been a wonderful journey, I'm very happy about this lady's performance, she has produced a high quality harvest, low quantity but I didn't maximice the space as good as I should, but definitely a wonderful genetic to grow, the flowrs are super sticky, full of trichomes and the smell is just the clasic amnesia smell you expect.

Lots of nutrients burn. I think it's okay now but I stress the word 'think'. The brown spots on the edges of the leaves seemed to have abated. All coming on nicely though. Autopot working wonders. The plant seems to be getting through 1.5 litres a day.

The colors are showing on this lady! They are beautiful! I couldn't believe how much she came into her own. I started to flush her and she's been hungry anyway. I taper off the nutes like nature intended. So last week was probably less than I added on the site. I will go back and fix it.

7/21 Battling a strange deficiency that has spread to one of the buds, almost positive its a calcium issue so I gave #3 a 1l of water with cal-mag. Things looking great otherwise. 7/22 cut the bud that was having strange issues and there was no mold inside. Dried it for a day, smoked the most messed up part just to see and it was fine so unless it was a heat issue I have no clue what happened. Otherwise everything is still looking great 7/23 Cut a couple of the main colas because quite a few of the trichomes were turning amber. It may have been a bit too early, bit I will monitor the rest of the plants to see how the develop.

I had a pretty good overall grow with Drunken Bitch Slap from Aeque Genetics. She grew well under the Hortibloom Solux 350. It looks like she will provide several ounces of good bud when dry. She got very big and has long saggy branches with nice frost buds on it. She smells like a black licorice, and gas smell. I am very curious to how she smokes. Such an amazing plant ,the smells coming out of my dry tent is insane i can smell the gg4 over the other 6 stains in there which is insane because i have some f1 strains that are super dank but i think this one beats them!! If your not growing gps's gg4 auto your definitely missing out on something very very special
