It has been another amazing week of the plants growing. I have been watching as the Fruity Freak leaves become progressively more fern-like, and ornamental as a result! Based on my Banizzle grows, I knew I needed to understand plant nutrients in a more meaningful way if I wanted these plants to thrive. So, I decided to get a soil test (see Ref. 1 below on how to perform a test) to understand what nutrients my plants needed. The report I received advised that I needed to add 200 lbs/acre of nitrogen, 150 lbs/acre of phosphorus, and 190 lbs/acre of potassium (see picture labeled Pic.1 (FYI you can't see these images unless you login to growdiaries)). I then researched what to do with my results (Ref. 2 helped), and I figured out that my nutrient needs of 200-150-190 fall close to a 2-1-2 ratio. I then looked at different types of organic fertilizers (see Ref. 3 and Ref. 4) and considered that I already had a 3-10-5 fertilizer (Vermibloom) on hand. I discovered Dr Earth’s Alfalfa Meal is 2-1-2 and includes beneficial bacteria and mycorrhizae (to promote healthy plant growth and disease resistance). However, I knew I would be low on nitrogen if I only used those two fertilizers. Therefore, I decided to buy some blood meal (12-0-0). I also liked that blood meal is more fast acting while the other two are more moderate. I hunted around for a solid fertilizer calculator and found an amazing tool from the University of Georgia Extension (Ref. 5). I entered all three fertilizers into the calculator, and it kicked out the exact amount of each fertilizer I needed to apply to 1 square foot (see Pic. 2). As I am using 10-gallon fabric pots (that can hold 1.5 cubic feet, but I put stone on the bottom and there’s space left at the top) I decided to use the one square foot application rate as I can always add more later, but I can’t take it away. Not only did I want to understand the nutrients I needed, but I also wanted to understand the structure of the soil (as it was not included in my test results). North Dakota State University has a nice page that discusses this (Ref. 6), and I performed a soil ribbon test (see Video 1) based on this information. I determined my soil to be medium textured (which is great), but I have seen occasional water pooling on the surface, suggesting that it may be more of a medium-fine. This means adding peat moss, coco coir, or other amendments might improve drainage (and plant hydration) and allow for roots to grow more easily. In the long run, I plan to use compost to enhance the soil structure and nutrients. I filled the bottom of my 10-gallon fabric pots with a ½” of pea stone to allow for drainage (Pic. 3). I then partially filled two 5-gallon buckets with topsoil from near where I will plant (but not in an area the roots will reach). I used a digital scale to measure the amount of fertilizers recommended by the calculator (Pic. 4, 5, and 6) and added it to one of the 5-gallon buckets (see Pic. 7). I mixed the fertilizers into the soil as evenly as possible (Pic. 8 and 9). I then poured a two-inch layer of non-fertilized soil, then peat moss, and then fertilized soil (in a roughly 2:1:1 ratio) and blended them together. I repeated this until the pot was full (getting additional soil as needed), and then I repeated the process for the other three pots. I set the filled fabric pots in my garage (Pic. 10) for two days to allow any upset bugs to flee into my garage instead of my house. I then moved the pots (wrapping them in a contractor garbage bag to prevent making a mess) into the room with the grow light. I placed a board on top of the fabric pots to insulate the plants (in their smaller pots) from the cold soil (Pic. 11). Once the soil in the fabric pots reaches room temperature, I will transplant. (Ref. 1) This video shows the method I used to take a soil sample. I didn’t have a field to test, so I took four samples from the area where I will eventually plant outdoors and blended them together. Growth rate is a little slow by comparison, still have high hopes for this pheno as it's purple...I love color in my tent.

pretty bummed out the other 2 plants that are flowering in the same tent as these mixed autos both might have hermed on me so i had to chop them early. the 2 mixed autos are looking a little droopy / sad so i really hope they didn't get pollinated. we went on a trip to colorado this week and i didnt have anyone to watch the plants or water them but i figured they would be fine being as we were only gone 3.5 days. well when i got back they looked fine and i only had enough water for the mixed pack plants. i waited until morning for the banana pp and regular purple punch and then they both started feeling almost crunchy on top so i did some investigating and i found a few nanners . i chopped right away and am praying for the best. one of these has some copperish hue to the tips on the newer growth? im not sure what that means im seeing maybe too much iron? i really need to calibrate my ph pen so i can pay more attention to it. i have been getting disttilled water jugs so its usually at 7 and im assuming the nutrients bring it down some but i rarely check because i never trust if the pen is on or not lol. thinking about going organic to avoid dealing with ph at all.

Overall the plant grew just great topped one time let it grow totally natural with the boost tablets smelly great n very frosty happy growing all and thanks to who tuned in on my diary’s

Heya Farmers. Lots of growth this week, as you can see in the video I had to do a ton of LST and defoliation! This strain had a lot of hype surrounding it in the community, but here on growth diaries most of the plants looked rather small and flowered after 2 weeks, I'm glad mine seems to be a bit bigger! she also already smells amazing, this early! I'm a little scared as shes still quite short, but if I can get dense little buds, I prefer that over stretchy airy sativas, so I suppose I should be happy, but still, so dense, so much foliage. Hey Friends, end of week 13 from seed. This week i noticed colas are slightly getting thicker, but still a slower growth compared to my other plant (#2) I had to install some yoyos because some colas are falling to the side due to its weight Had trouble maintaining a steady humidity level Leaves are beginning to fade, not sure if its normal or because I increased light intensity this week Increased light intensity to 350 - 400 lux x100 Colas for some reason do not look thick enough and so far no amber on the trichomes, might need to wait Another week or two so I could begin flushing. Smell is stronger like green lemon mango, that weird smell it use to have is slowly going away. QUESTIONS So I planned a trip with my family on oct 9th, when booking the trip around 3 weeks ago I estimated that the plant would need another month before harvesting. Will this plant be ready for harvest before oct 9th? When should I begin Flushing ?

Good day to all my friends and visitors here on GD. Decided to finally finish this diary so that on New Year eve I'm not opening the year with unfinished business. Now we cut the second Tropicanna XL auto plant, the first cut you can find in week 17. The plant from week 17 weighted 2.6 kilo wet, this one finished at 2.1kg. wet. The girls where autoflower but thanks to me starting this grow in cold day temps (14 degree Celsius) the started flower really late and grew and grew :) I enjoyed growing this strain immensely, smells so sweet and fruity, she has the most intense and most delicious aroma ever She brunches off like crazy, gave me a ton of big and dense bud. Not much to say , had a timer issue with my dripper, for some reason it just reset its self leading to the medium drying out and going up to around 3.5EC ! Hopefully it won't cause any issues now I've brought it down to 2.2EC , I guess I'll find out over the next few days . happy growing 💚

Der Vorsprung der Pflanze rechts auf den Bildern baut sich aus, dies scheint der Pheno zu sein der sich stark stretcht. Ich werde ihn die nächsten Wochen täglich mit Superscropping stressen um eine einheitliche Höhe zu bekommen. Die Luftfeuchtigkeit war diese Woche heftig hoch, so das ich diese außerhalb vom Zelt mit einem großen Entfeuchter auf rd 55-60 % regulieren musste um im Zelt optimale Bedingungen zu erreichen. In dieser Woche wurden beide Ladies getoppt zusätzlich alle weiteren Trainingsmethoden die ich nutze parallel angewendet. (Topping, LST, Entlaubung, Supercropping) Durch das umtopfen stehen erstmal genug Nährstoffe zur Verfügung. Ich steigere langsam. Pflanzen haben eine gute gesunde Farbe Tage der Keimung = 4 Tage.
