This week wrapped up the generative two phase or midflower and began the generative three phase. The plants were fed the nutrients listed daily. I like to keep the p and k up high during the first week to twelve days of generative three. This week the weather has been more cooperative but far from ideal. The highs have ranged from mid 70's to 90 degrees f. The nights are running low to mid 60's f with humidity in the 90% range at night. Humidity has stayed somewhat high during the day ranging from 70% to mid 50% a few days only. This weather has really been testing these girls resistance. Plants 1 and 2 have been immune to pm. Plant 3 has responded well to treatment with arber. All the plants got a medium defoliation which helped. Everyone stacked this week. They have all reached their maximum height. I used the height of the tallest 87.5" for the official height. The two shorter plants are 61 and 62 inches.

Buds grew nice and strong..acted like a topped auto. There was no real main cola. But, instead there was 5 of near the same height. She didn't grow as expected. But, grew with great vigor. And pushed herself to give quite the bounty. Not a lot. But, what is there is so sticky. Stinky. Very earthy. With a very sweet undertone, can already get the hint of melons or something sweet like that when you grind it. It is an earthy smoke. And no doubt she will truly shine on a 2 month cure. And that's what this small harvest is going. Into the jars for 2 months. I've taken 3g and put it into a small jar, and will give a smoke review on it. After I feel I can justily do so. She glistenings with resin and her trichomes are bountiful. She has a very pungent earthy sweet musk that is lovely. I have vaped a bit. And it was very pleasant. The stone was deep and intense. Like a true indica. She did give a light sativa affect but was quickly washed away with a strong indica body high. 3 months later and the bud developments terpine profile became very potent with a strong pedgiree of a nice melon/earthy/sweet kush. Love this auto. Happy New Year!!! Over the past week I cut down 2 of the 3 Blackberry’s, they are hanging and drying now. The 3rd is definitely looking better than the first 2. I think the first 2 will probably be turned into edibles, rather than smoked. The 3rd is looking much better overall and especially in terms of bud development, she will probably be smoked. The lights went off before I was done taking pics, so some pics will look a little different. The pics with the lights on I had to color correct, they still look a little more on the yellow side than in reality, but much closer to reality than the pre-color corrected versions. Once the lights went off I turned the flash on for my camera, those pics did not need any color correction. You can see the differences in the pics of all plants, the first 2 are color corrected with the lights on, the last 2 are taken with a flash and no color correction. I read several books on cannabis over the past few days, some good, some not so much. One that I liked was “Marijuana Cultivation Reconsidered: The Science and Techniques For Huge Indoor Yields” by Read Spear. This book is available on Amzon’s Kindle Unlimited service, which costs $9.99/month, but they offer a free 30 day trial (which is what I’m using at the moment). Reed’s book is broken down into 3 sections, the first and third go fairly deep into the science behind growing, he does a pretty good job at breaking it down in easy to understand terms, but I had to read several sections 2 or 3 times to really get it (or just move on with as much understanding as I could digest). The second section is the nuts and bolts of growing. Most was a review but there were several topics he touched on I hadn’t thought of in a while. And again its well written. He also offers the section only in a separate book called “Small Spaces, Big Yields”. If you are not interested in going deeper into the science behind growing, “Small Spaces, Big Yields” is what I would recommend (if interested in reading books on cannabis). I took some notes while reading and I’m going to add some of these notes in my dairy updates over the next few weeks. This week I’m going to include a note on electrical, this should be a fairly basic concept, but it is super important IMO… “Electrical Items In a sealed grow room or in a tent, you will have water pooling on the floor from time to time. There is no avoiding this. Mop it up when you see it, and never put your electrical gear directly on the floor. Never. Not even for a moment. In fact, let me stress this point in bold capital letters. ALL ELECTRICAL GEAR MUST BE MOUNTED SECURELY ON A WALL OR TENT POLE.” -Read Spear I’ll add more did bits like this in my diaries over the upcoming weeks. If anyone has any good book recommendations please let me know in the comments. I’m looking for books that might not be as popular as the ones by Jorge Cervantes or Ed Rosenthal (I’ve read those). I did just order “True Living Organics” by The Rev which I’m looking forward to reading. But I’m looking for more. I really want to step it up and learn as much as possible. Here we are at the halfway point, after the first month our photoperiodic plants are multiplying their florets and then going into flowering. Slurricane is a lady with low internodal distance. This characteristic greatly influences the application of growing techniques. In this case it is a plant that responds to topping a little slower than the others and it is best to wait for the branches to grow to avoid damaging the little ones. However, we are at 4 florets and between tomorrow and the day after tomorrow we will cut 8. My plan for photoperiodic plants is to get to 16, wait a few days and go into flowering. 16 florets as I see it is the perfect size for the 11 liter pot. Topping is an extremely delicate moment as regards cutting the tops to split them, we always pay attention not to damage the new growing branches. Topping is also a delicate moment as regards fertilization because the plant slows down and absolutely does not need all that nitrogen that it would normally need and that the producers recommend in their sheets. So you should arrive with the plant green and perfectly in shape at this moment and dose the fertilizer very well for growth. Mine came from a slightly deficient veg because I kept it low fearing this over effect during the topping that I know well and now I am a bit over. Nothing to worry about, of course, but if you do repeated topping, my advice is to use preferred soil or prepare the soil with Monster Bud Mix by Zamnesia or Plagron Super Mix, in short, enrich the soil at the start and only add nitrogen if necessary, especially during repeated topping. In any case, everything is under control and I will demonstrate it to you during the flowering phase. Wait for the Uncle BreadandBuds and see what it does to you. Remember that cold temperatures make the girls absorb food much more slowly than in summer, so be careful to give the right amount and let the plant dry in maximum 2 days or you risk imbalances. This week I've had some technical difficulties and busy finishing my dry room since these girls are getting closer and closer. The colas are frostier and getting weightier. So hard to be patient but love seeing them grow.
