Plants that are too far from an adequate light source will respond by accelerating stem growth in order to get closer to the lamp themselves. Especially when there are many other plants. A lack of lighting can easily cause overcrowding in a growing chamber, reducing the steady progression of your crop and the distance ratio between your bulbs and your plants. To address this problem, be sure to provide enough light to your plants to prevent stem growth. At the same time, you should not position your lights too close to your plants either since this would also result in an over-stretching of the stems and in some cases, the loss of your crop. In addition to the distance between the light source and the plant, the type of light you will use also affects the size of the stretching of your crop. The orange and red lights encourage stretching and result in thinner, larger stems. And conversely, blue light stimulates a growth of thicker stems and a smaller size. When a species is ready to enter the vegetative phase and undergo its most drastic stretching period, metal halide lamps can be used to deter far too long stems. THE HEAT Heat is another essential element that can determine the stretch size of your plants during vegetation. Temperatures above 27 degrees push the stems to lengthen more and more and will propel the potential of sativas to push as high as possible. Heat lamps that are positioned too close to plants create an intolerable environment that will grow large, soft plants that will potentially wobble until they fall and lose flowers in its fall. Cannabis plants that are not grown in decent conditions or do not receive enough nutrients will respond in a variety of ways and this includes stretching. Crops that are not spaced far enough apart are likely to stretch to sting the light to other plants. Due to extreme proximity, the plants will fight among themselves to reach the light, forcing them to expand as much as possible throughout the crop. HOW TO CONTROL STRETCHING DURING FLOWERING Stretching during flowering, you guessed it, takes place when you move your plants from the vegetation stage to the flowering stage. This is a completely normal reaction, as your plants are preparing to bear the weight of their heads. Stretching of a plant at the beginning of flowering varies widely; some plants can double in height while others grow only a few centimetres. There are, however, two main variables that can give you at least an idea of how your plants are stretching during flowering, and how much. Here are these two variables: Variety: Genetics has the greatest impact on the size of your plant. In general, sativa varieties stretch more than indicas and tend to develop long, slender stems. Light: Some lights, such as HPS, are more likely to encourage stretching. In addition, great distances between your canopy and your lights will cause the plants to stretch as they try to get closer to the light source. Stretching during flowering usually lasts the first two weeks of the phase. To minimize stretching, keep your lights between 10 (for CFL) and 30 centimetres (for HID) of your canopy. Finally, choose indica varieties if you have a smaller growing space. HOW TO AVOID STRETCHING In many cases, you can expect your cannabis plants to stretch during the flowering phase. Keeping that in mind helps to make a plan in case your species ends up growing much more than you could have imagined. If the information is available, get information on the standard size of your species and compare it to the size of your growing space taking into account the necessary distances between the bulbs and the plants. TRAFFIC While outdoor crop operations benefit from natural air to naturally limit stretching, indoor crops must assume the maintenance of air circulation within a confined space. Basic ventilation is enough to help the cannabis stems strengthen and become thicker rather than too high. In this way, the plants continue to grow vigorously without reaching heights and at the same time, your tolerance ceiling. MANUAL INTERVENTION For growers who want to get their hands dirty, there are physical procedures that can be done to reduce stretching. Similar to the natural effect that the wind has on cannabis plants, manually bending the leaves and stems will cause tiny cracks in the plant's tissues that will cause the plant to focus on regenerating its wounds instead of its vertical growth. THE TOPPING Topping is a form of manual intervention on cannabis to influence its performance, shape or size. In essence, topping is a process in which a new node is cut, growing from the plant to reduce its size and create a "v"-shaped notch that will eventually form two heads. Topping may be an effective measure to combat stretching, but it is important not to do so when the flowering phase begins. In most cases, an abnormal stretch of cannabis plants will not completely destroy your crop. In fact, stretching can indeed help increase your performance. For growers with a growing operation large enough to contain tall plants, stretching can increase the total yield of a species with more vertical space for head formation. In both cases, stretching can easily be planned in advance and there are multiple solutions to help you with this problem which is all too common. May the force be with you 💪

The first experiment I decided to do on the mother plant is a two-tiered pot. I cut the Cup and put it in a plastic plastic canister, wrapped with tape the upper tier of the pot, so that the light does not interfere with the roots, but the lower tier I left open, to nablidat for the development of the root system and show you. I also cut the four lower large vegetative leaves so that they do not interfere with the access of light to the side branches. Now the plant is 2 weeks old, it has been living in a new house for 3 days and has already adapted and taken new roots.

I stopped giving them Bio Grow since the harvest is near.. I cut some yellow leaves and they all look beautiful :) Can't wait until harvest :D

09/10: The are both still much behind where i would expect them to be right now. I think maybe this strain just produces much smaller plants than im used to? Not sure. The run is actually starting to look as big as the other, just shorter. I havent yet decided if i want to take the little one to flower. I will be transplanting tomorrow, and will decide then. 09/12: I transplanted one today. Im bot going to repot the little one. Oddly enough they are both already showing signs of preflower. Admittedly, I have only grown like 4 autoflowers ever, but I am very surprised by how soon these are transitioning. And frankly i dont like it. Would have expected another two weeks for veg development before this started. She is going to be a very small plant likely.

This week went by well, I will start checking the trichomes on the Runtz at the end of this week. It should be ready for harvest in the next 2 to 3 weeks The G13 is still smelling like magic, looking majestic. The GDP buds are starting to put on weight

This week was hottt Record breaking temps wer cooking my girls sooo I let them out. I took out their light also (saturday) I also put green celophane on all the house windows (that dont have blinds) because i dont want the house lights to disrupt their sleep. ( i dont know how sensitive they r ) Next week will be their first full week of flower

NOTE: THE COUNTING OF DAYS STARTS FROM THE DAY THE SEED STARTS ITS PROCESS, IN THIS GROW DAY 1 WAS THE MOMENT THE SEED GOT INSERTED INTO THE EASY START (i do not recomend this method for experienced growers, but higly recomend it to unexperienced growers that might accidentally damage their seedling's new root as they move them from the germination zone into their next or final pot, with easy start you can just pick up the small cube of soil and place it inside the next pot GENTLY). NOTE: For strain informations, soil recipe and nutrient's stock please do check "Germination Week" as you will find all the information there. (Do not replicate nutrient dosages as these are higly variable depending on the conditions within the grow room or tent, so you may end up damaging or killing your plants even if they are the same strain from the same breeder). --------------------------------------------------------------------___________________________________________________________-----------------------------------------------------------------------_____________________________________________________________________---------------------------------------------------------------- 03/11- All watered with 950ml of water per plant with dilluted nutrients in the rates specified above. Light schedules changed to 19/5 and will be further extended to 20/4 to allow for more hours of heat from the lights as we progress into winter. 06/11- All watered with 1,4l of water with 2ml/l Bio Rhizhotonic + 0.45ml/l of Ancient Earth. Removed first set of leaves as those were not in use anymore completely covered from light.

May 25: growing quickly and looking quite good for the end of May. Fifth node is forming and the first topping for the manifold will likely be tomorrow. May 26: raised soil level using Pro-Mix and compost. Got rained on. May 27: first topping down to third node (removed 5 and 4). The only growth tips left are the two on the third node. In about a week these will be topped again. And then again. Manifolding (or mainlining) is totally easy and really is just topping at the right stages of development. Highly recommended technique. May 31: it’s been cool since the topping and seems a bit slow getting going again but I’m sure it’ll be fine. I probably could have waited a few more days before topping but oh well.

After defoliating both Barbarian (=AK-47 x Barbara Bud) plants after week 11 they now develop more and amore flower clusters, since the light can penetrate deeper int the canopy now. The plants are producing trichomes like crazy, even the bigger sugar leaves are covered in them! VERY FROSTY PLANTS! The flower clusters clearly form colas now along all side branches and both plants fill up nicely. The smell is now strong and sweet with a clear peach aroma to it, it makes me smile every time I look into the tent. The plants love the Advanced Nutrients feeding schedule and are getting the recommended dose every watering.

Seeds are coming in lovely (see nxt diary for growth) clip the branches that I had breed first gonna allow the main colar a few more days....can't wait to see what's it like.....it got scent n looks let's see what the thump is like 🤔
