New week, new growth.. Will hopefully start the LST and Topping in a few days. They are really starting to grow. Fan leaves looking healthy and big. Girls coming with vigorous growth now, everything dialled in and happy. Just adjusting the EC/pH as needed when the girls show me the relevant signs/deficiencies if any. D31/D35- Decided they were in a good enough place to start topping the girls, all 6 topped and just some defoliation of the bigger fan leaves that are shading the growth shoots some HST was also done. We were also due a water change, so I cleaned the whole system just to keep things extra cleanly, very important in a RDWC system. I also switched over to a sterile system instead of using beneficial bacteria so I will experiment and see how this goes. Time to let the girls ecover before the next training session. Cruise control for now.

Es war eine sehr gemischte Woche mit viel Regen, etwas Sonne und eine Menge Wind. Die Durban Poison lässt sich davon wenig beeindrucken, sie ist am Stock festgebunden, steht kerzengerade und lässt ihre Buds weiter anschwellen. Leider habe ich bei sehr genauem Hinsehen doch ein welkes verdrehtes Blatt in einer Blüte gefunden und dieses mit der Blüte sofort entfernt. Weiteres Untersuchen brachte aber keine weiteren beginnenden Schimmelstellen zum Vorschein. 100% schimmelfrei ist sie also nicht... Das Wetter ist jedoch sehr schimmelförderlich zur Zeit. Ich freue mich schon auf die Ernte und dann benötige ich viiiel Platz zum Trocknen. Die DP ist dieses Jahr etwas kleiner als im Jahr davor, was sicherlich an der Düngemenge im Topf in der Vegetationsphase liegt. Entscheidend wird sein, ob das Entlauben etwas am Erntergebnis verbessern wird. Letztes Jahr hatte ich mehr Blätter an der Pflanze gelassen. The Durban Poison is not particularly affected by this; it is tied to the stake, stands straight as a die and continues to swell its buds. Unfortunately, upon closer inspection, I did find a wilted, twisted leaf in one of the flowers and immediately removed it along with the flower. Further examination revealed no other signs of mould. So it's not 100% mould-free... However, the weather is very conducive to mould at the moment. I'm looking forward to the harvest and then I'll need a lot of space for drying. The DP is a little smaller this year than last year, which is certainly due to the amount of fertiliser in the pot during the vegetation phase. The decisive factor will be whether defoliation will improve the harvest yield. Last year, I left more leaves on the plant. Thank you very much for visiting and best wishes for a mould-free week! 😀

Hi Growmies, we reached week 9 of blooming and the HighCloudz is almost ready for harvest ✌️I plan to let her bloom for another 7 days at least, and after this I let the trichromes tell me if it's harvest time. My microscope is broken and I'm waiting for a new one to arrive. So hopefully I have the chance to do a closer inspection in a few days. Apart from my mistake in nutrition in week 6 and 7 I'm very happy with this round. The buds look delicious and covered with resin. Can't wait to get a taste 😍 🌿🌿🌿 Mid-week update Allright! I received my new microscope in the mail and checked out the trichromes. Turns out a lot of them are still transparant. Just goes to show that it's dangerous to rely on the brown pistils to determine if the plant is ready for harvest. And the funny thing is that she's forming new calyxes again. We will have to see if she's ready for harvest by the end of this week. And if not I just give her another week to reach her full potency 👊

growing rapidly 1st time using regs going well so far

Nothing has realy happened since I cropped the royal cream....It is just hanging. Decided to do a dry trim so that it takes longer to dry due to the fact I am having to just use my cupboard so the humidity is pretty low. Leaving the leaves on just means It takes longer to dry. I am going to crop the Easy Bud in the next few days when the mood takes me. I had 4 left over R. Cream seeds left over because I informed them that. bought 2x 3 packs and only 2 seeds germinated so they sent me another packet which is REALLY good of them and the sort of thing that means I would definitely use Royal Queen Seeds again, for sure! The trich's are basically all cloudy with a few clear. I cant see any amber but my loupe is a ridiculously cheap Chinese piece of crap. I will invest in a microscope camera so I can hook it up to my phone or MacBook. It is way too hard to keep everything steady In order to see what is popping with my sexy trichomes. Obviously feeding has stopped for about a week now. I forgot to change it In the diary last week so will try and correct that now.. I know it is not strictly relevant but I had to go somewhere earlier and took a video because I was able o walk in the middle of a main road in my town which Is usually packed full of cars, especially at the time I was walking on it. It is a time that makes me even more glad I grow my own. I really need to buy the bigger tent, lights and re-locate to the bigger, more subtle cupboard (not the one i am using to dry my weed in the video I posted) and then I will be able to effectively ScrOG the 2 or 3 plants I have, in order to maximise yield so I can be totally self sufficient with regards to my cannabis medicine. UPDATE - MONDAY I just realised I have made a proper idiots mistake an missed out on some much tastier buds because of it. OK, so I got paid today, so I though I would treat myself to some of them cheap COB chips I used for my last grow because hey were super cheap and actually really effective considering the price. I ordered 2x 100w 6000k veg spectrum chips with a solderless connection for my power. This hought process lead me to go ad retrieve the old citizen LED and I thought I would try it. Still didn't work, then suddenly I thought it could be a simple blown fuse so I changed it aaaannnnd.....still doesn't work. doh! I started to remove the COB holder and COB from the heatsink (it was just glued to it using thermal compound) and when I laid it on the table I decided to test the driver without the COB holder on the tiny off chance it might work...nope I then realised maybe I got the + and - the wrong way round, tried again and boom works perfectly. The connection from the holder to the cob had bent slightly off contact. Really annoying that this whole time I could have doubled my photons to the plant, however, really nice that I don't have to spend a load more money on lighting in order to upgrade into the new room. So all I have to do now is spend money on a pre-drilled heatsink and a new metal COB holder for the citizen.

Purple Punch is flowering very nicely, trichomes are out, and getting bigger buds. This will be around the 5th week of flowering. It did not double its size as I expected, just grew an extra 3-5 cm. I am surprised. Strange. It remained small but the flowers are beautiful. I did not raise up the water intake just left it the same 200ml 2x a day. Clean water in the morning and then fertilization in the evening. I really like this plant. I think I will order more seeds. Purple Punch height end of the week is the same 43 cm.

Yo ho ho things are getting a little out of control here. By the end of this week the single plant has grown from the windows to the waaaaallls, measuring 30 inches across and somewhere around 20 inches tall. Humidity is a real problem now with all that transpiration, and because my house is 60-65% RH it is pretty hard to keep the tent humidity below 70% even with ventilation and a dumb thermoelectric peltier dehumidifier. The dehumidifier pulls 160-170ml of moisture out of the air each day but I feel like I might need something bigger (although I'm pressed for space already). VPD ranges from 7.6hPa in the morning and climbs to around 9.5hPa by lights out as the tent warms up. I've seen a lot of people who use the Growmau5 / RapidLed "Far Red Initiator Puck" to help kick their plants into bloom but $37 shipped and it doesn't even have built-in scheduling? I designed my own puck with 4x Cree XPE-2 Far Red (730nm) LEDs, a driver, wifi access and control for scheduling and setting brightness, and while I was at it I added in 0-10V dimming with override dimmer potentiometer, as well as a DHT22 temperature and humidity sensor for logging. I call it the Initgnokt. I am also seeing pairs of fine little hairs coming out at nodes, we definitely got a ladyplant here, hope to get some blooms coming soon?
