Hey hey growmies! another longer week, as I wanted to show these girls bouncing back from some problems I ran into with my Kratky experiment. about halfway through the week my plants started drooping and showing signs of overwatering, my guess is either the plant outgrew her air roots or the reservoir was too hot, inhibiting the plants ability to take up oxygen. either way, a quick peek at the roots showed some very healthy looking noodles, so I decided to not take any chances and come up with a solution that would solve both those problems. I took a 3 litre container, put a coat of primer and black paint on it to keep light out, then a layer of plumbers tape to bounce some of the grow lights off of the container, theoretically keeping the heat out, some other things I could have done was paint it white, or put some wall insulation around it. I could have also kept my jars and tried some troubleshooting, fill them less and more often. but I am happy with the roots created by Kratky, that's the nice thing about that system, it forces the roots to grow more horizontally, the roots have now created a sturdy foundation for low stress training and are perfect for placing into DWC. so that's what I did, I added a tiny pump and air stone, and for now both plants will sit in this tiny container, The Runtz will be moved to the tent as soon as possible, hopefully before these girl's roots get entangled, If that does happen, I will have to trim back some of the Runtz roots, I don't want to hurt the autoflower. now you've likely wondered what is up with the host of deficiencies the plants are showing, honestly that's just neglect on my part. I can tell there's damage from overwatering, pH fluctuations and even some lockouts. I am more on top of it now, the pH is more stable, the plants are getting oxygen and will recover plenty before flower. Plus I get to show off how hardy ruderalis is, look at the auto-flower compared to the photo period, she barely cares about the high temps, pH fluctuations all she appears to want is more food, so I have increased the ec to 1 ms, but most importantly, ill keep the pH in a range where they can actually take up the nutrients now That's it for now Growmies, Thanks for checking out my diary. Slowly increasing nutrients and lowing the pH a little at a time. Growth is a little slower than I anticipated, but I've read that coco often starts out a little on the slow side. Both girls don't have the sturdiest stems, but I've added some support and fans to try and get those trunks a little stronger. I know the Meph guide talks about funny leaves, and both of these girls have a little something special about them. Reggie is much bigger and had some two lobes younger leaves whereas Weezie is smaller in stature but stared out with more uniform leaves, but now has a funny ripple. It's always fun to watch how they grow! I was hoping to top them, but now I'm getting cold feet...

D68 (28/01/2021): First official day of week 6 in bloom and first official day (second in reality) of pre harvest flush. The smell is strong when I open the tent! It does not take long for the whole room to smell dank and even outside the room. - temp: 24-25C light ON ; 20-22C light OFF - no water - RH: 49-52% light ON ; 49-50% light OFF D69 (29/01/2021): I did a first proper flush today by running approximately 2.5 gallons of water trough the medium. There is still a lot of nutrients in the medium. I might do the exact same flush tomorrow. The PH of the run off is high (around PH7-7.1). This is an other reason to flush again tomorrow. I also reduced the light ON schedule by two hours. So now 18h hours ON and 6 hours OFF. I will continue reducing the ON period until they are ready for a complete dark period. I also try to reduce the air temperature. - temp: 24-25C light ON ; 19-20C light OFF - water: PH6.4, 135PPM, 2.5 gallons each - run off: PH7 and 680PPM for Glue Gelato ; PH7.1 and 560PPM for Banana Kush - RH: 47% light ON ; 48-53% light OFF D70 (30/01/2021): I did a second flush since I was not satisfied with run off PPM of yesterday. Today, the run off PPM is under 300 which is what I wanted. The run off PH is still high with 7.1. Banana Kush is ripening with the pistils slowly turning brown. Glue Gelato look sooooo yummy and I can't wait to harvest it. There is a small color change in some leaves but I'm expecting more in the next days. - temp: 23-24C light ON ; 19C light OFF - water: PH6.4, 125PPM, 2.5 gallons each - run off: PH7.1 and 260PPM for Glue Gelato ; PH7.1 and 250PPM for Banana Kush - RH: 46% light ON ; 46-48% light OFF D71 (31/01/2021): Glue Gelato is changing color. I'm checking trichomes everyday on both girls and no amber yet. - temp: 23-24C light ON ; 19C light OFF - no water - RH: 45% light ON ; 49-50% light OFF D72 (01/02/2021): Well well well...the clock is ticking for those girls. Glue Gelato is now having a couple of amber trichomes. Banana Kush don't have any. Overall Banana Kush has less trichomes and fluffier buds. This girls is not ready yet but I will need to chop her down at the same time has the Glue Gelato because my drying space is the tent I'm growing in. I will try to push the Banana Kush to ripen faster by lifting up the lamp at 16 inches from top bud and by reducing of 2 hours the day period for a 16 hours light ON and 8 hours light OFF. But at least all Banana Kush trichomes looks milky. - temp: 23-24C light ON ; 18-19C light OFF - water: PH6.2, 123PPM, less then a gallon each - run off: PH7.4 and 200PPM for Glue Gelato ; PH7.4 and 287PPM for Banana Kush - RH: 45% light ON ; 40-45% light OFF D73 (02/02/2021): I gave water probably for the last time today. Trichomes on Glue Gelato are starting to amber on top buds. Not a lot of amber but you can see that all the trichomes are starting to degrade by curling down slowly. Trichomes on Banana Kush are not amber at all but they all look milky. Glue Gelato is ready to harvest but Banana Kush need more time. It's tough to make a decision to chop or not since they are not at the same stage of growth. I want to place them in a complete 48 hours of darkness before harvest. 1h less light today for a 15h light ON and 9h light OFF. The lamps are now at 20 inches. - temp: 23-24C light ON ; 18-19C light OFF - water: less then a gallon each - RH: 45% light ON ; 40-45% light OFF D74 (03/02/2021): Glue Gelato is ready for 48h of darkness. I will take her out of the tent and place her in an other room without light. I will try to maintain a proper environment in this room and if it smells to strong or if the condition are not good I will replace her in the tent and both will start the 48h darkness. The idea is to give Banana Kush 2 more days to ripe and swoll more. After 48h, I will chop Glue Gelato and place her in the tent to start drying. Banana Kush will then start her 48h darkness. I don't know if this strategy is good but I will monitor everything closely and react if something is wrong. - temp: 22-23C light ON ; 19C light OFF - no water - RH: 47% light ON ; 43-45% light OFF

Flowers are growing larger with more resin. I am thinking I use CNS17 Ripe next time around instead of bloom. I will lower PH a bit tonight. It is 6.8 with an EC of 1.7.

This week is basically more LST my plant that split has repaired herself within four days and looking amazing and has the most growth out of the three Widows

Final stretch, next week it's time to flush them. The smell is really strong when I open the bedroom door, I believe in an extremely satisfactory result.. ❄️💪🌲 ***The photo of the trichomes ended up getting mixed up, so I'll post photos of all the plants.

This strain is a cross between fire caké and black domina

This is the 8th week. Thursday will be 9 weeks of 12/12. Some trichs are amber. They just added a good bunch of girth over the past few days, but most of the pistils are red now. The rest of them have been dropping leaves consistenly but the canopy remains full so they must be putting out more leaves. I just flushed to 80% runoff and found out that I had 1200ppm. I just got an ec meter but my last reading said closer to 600 so idk what happened there. I flushed until I had runoff ppm of about 150. Now they're back in the grow tent. I don't want to keep assaulting them with my microscope. I think they're ready. Just gonna let them settle another day or two to dry out a bit. I took one small branch off the small Wedding Cake plant on Thursday and I've just been watching it dry on my counter. It's been 5 days and the stem snaps but still leaves a fiber connecting. I put it into a small jar with a 64RH thing. I just want to try it. It already smells amazing. The leaves on the big CBD Blue Shark plant are going really yellow and some other colours are starting to come out as well. The buds all fattened up and got more frosty again. I was worried they were foxtailing but they got more calyxes underneath the peaks and have been making more of a pyramid shape. They're really close to peak. Harvest day will be March 17 or 18. March 17 1023pm chopped and hung after lights off all day. RH was 65% before I chopped and 50% after I closed the window and cut the plants off the saturated pots. I did a wet trim to prevent mold. The buds are sticky af. Gonna hang them to dry for 7-9 days before curing in jars :) March 18 : checked the RH when I woke up and it's chilling at 45% 😎 March 19 : just checked to see how they were drying. There are seeds in every plant. RIP I'll update when I put them in jars and again a few weeks later for final review. Overall it was a good grow despite the rocky start and a good introduction to the mainline technique and my new grow space. Next grow I should have everything pretty well dialed in. March 23 They were hanging for 3 days. Rh was around 45, then spiked to 65 overnight when I forgot to turn the fans back on. Temp was high at around 26.they felt wet after 2 days, and bone dry after 4 days. The stems still didn't snap but I put them in jars anyway. A day later, jar RH was 50%. I burped all the jars and there was a smell from the new jars. I took all the weed out, washed out the jars, and did a dry trim on the weed. One of the Wedding Cake plants must have gone hermie. I didn't see any bananas and didn't even realize there were seeds until the very end. The seed pods looked just like calyxes while the plants were growing. Many of the nugs are unusable. Under the sugar leaves are just layers and layers of seeds. Some weren't hit that badly. The CBD Blue Shark is much better off but still has some seeds. I'm trying to stay positive. It's a bit of a shock though. I'm anxious to try the finished product. If the flowers at least taste good and have a good effect, all is not lost.

Day 35 Flower Hey Growers. Things are going well here, other than the delicious funk that is emanating from my house. The carbon filter is not able to keep up with these beauties and the FastBuds flowering at the same time. It’s also about 5 years old so…..time for a new one. It also doesn’t help that the 4 ft of snow around the house is melting and I have to have the grow room door open for the sump line, but whatever. These girls are just cruising along. I watered with 950 ppm and 1650 was the runoff. I’m noticing a bit of tip burn but I hear that normalish for full spectrum leds. They make the plants draw extra mag, seems like the Epsom is helping with that. I’m getting to a point where I may need to water twice a day to achieve denser quality buds, the next couple weeks will dictate that. Hand watering hydro is a terrible idea!!!!!!!!!! Too late to turn back. I am running the Vipar Spectra XS2000 at the recommended 16” at 100%. I’m also alternating from the right to left side of the tent each day like a poor man’s light mover. I’m noticing leaf edge curl (tacoing) but it’s nothing major and they pointing upwards. They seem happy. All in all I’m happy with how it’s going, just gonna keep it on cruise control and tuck or remove leaves causing problems. Happy Growing 🌱

Week 7 started nice and easy. Added a new pump to my catch basin for water extraction. Plants are still stretching and flowers are stacking. I’m going to have to rearrange the tent a little to give these girls some space. The smell is pure lemons I can’t wait! I also realized I have 5 fans in my tent to control temp and humidity…hahaha

Well ladies and gentlemen XG here! back with another week of the pot patch 2023. As you can see here these girls are now in full flower. Just setting up all the parameters for a great grow. Just feed the microbes and the microbes will take care of the plant.

Two out of three were fed with nutrients today on 8/10 2/3 were fed with plain ph water on 8/12. Back plastic pot still drying from plain water feed on 8/10

Weather here is still fantastic, hot days, partially cloudy, cooler nights. Long term forecast are excellent till the end of September, probably till mid October. No news to report, I'm just waiting for buds swelling, these are the slowest days of my life. The halfway point has passed, now I am just waiting for the buds to gain weight, trichomes are turning milky with few amber. Lots of beautiful brown pistils are filling the buds, a ridiculous amount of resin is covering everything (I really won't know how to handle this super sticky stuff). Unfortunately, the flower size ratio is still disadvantageous compared to that of the sisters but the structure of this plant is sublime, practically apart from slender branches, sparse and thin leaves, it is composed only of beautiful dense buds, with a perfect ovoid shape, in need of little trim. Aesthetically a feast for the eyes. The mites infection is stable. From tomorrow the definitive defoliation begins, a little at a time. Flushing started, last feed Monday 14th. Harvest time September 26/27 or earlier.
